#A Couple Playtest Questions

Okay, so here are a couple Questions regarding the third Ormod Playtest and about the Game altogether:

1: Helicopters
I saw a skill in the skill menu that contained the skill to restore broken helicopters, just like cars. Im guessing this wasn't in the second Playtest as it's probably Tier 3+, so that would be really cool. Another Question about the Helicopters, will they have Arnaments or will they just be for transportation? Also, will there be Controller Support, as @lyric marten really wants to use his HOTAS?

2: Tiers
Im guessing the Tier progression will be like the first two Playtests, where we had almost exclusively Tier one in the First Playtest and then in the second Playtest we had more access to Tier two, so maybe we'll unlock Tier three and also Base upgrades/reinforcements. Last Test we had about 30% of the total Items/Mechanics included, so it would be really nice to unlock some more Content.

3: Map
Would be cool to have a larger Map than last time, which would make sense due to the Tier expansion (if its gonna unlock), we had 1km², then 2.5km², so it would e nice to see some more, maybe like 5?

4: Server Size
Last time the Servers were on 60 max Players, and were already bugging out at 30, but it would be REALLY cool to see some more Players online and some bigger Server sizes then 20/30, as its way more fun with more Players, and it would be difficult for PVP if the Map was massive but the Player size pretty small.

5: Blueprints
It would also be really cool to see some Blueprint integration, as you could find Blueprints last Test but not actually use them.

6: Building
I didnt really look, but how large can you build the Base (As in the Quadrilateral Grid)? And it would be pretty cool if you could make some Expansions to the Base!

Suggestion for implementation of heavier armed and armored land vehicles and Attack Helicopters. I will try to talk about balancing, general implementation and why these features should be added to ORMOD:DIRECTIVE.
First off: storing and acquiring these vehicles, the helicopter currently ingame is per wrighting of this the UH-1Y venom developed for the USMC by BELL, the AH-1Z is a attack helicopter based on the AH-1W super cobra nicknamed the VIPER. It was co-developed with the UH-1Y and therefore shares an 84% parts commonality with the majority being drivetrain, rotorsystem, tailboom, engines and avionics/displays. This would make it an ideal contender to be able to through a extensive and expensive upgrade/customization from the already ingame UH-1Y.
Armaments include:
Guns:
1 × 20 mm (0.787 in) M197 three-barreled rotary cannon in the A/A49E-7 turret (750 round ammo capacity)
Hardpoints: 6 total pylon stations on stub wings with a capacity of 5,764 lb (2,615 kg) maximum, with provisions to carry combinations of:
Rockets:
2.75 in (70 mm) Hydra 70 (unguided) or APKWS II (guided)[75] rockets (Mounted in LAU-68C/A (7 shot) or LAU-61D/A (19 shot) launchers; up to 76 unguided or 38 guided rockets total)[76][77]
Missiles:
AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles – one mounted on each wing tip station (two total)
AGM-114 Hellfire air-to-surface missiles – Up to 16 missiles mounted in four 4-round M299 missile launchers, two on each wing
AGM-179 JAGM air-to-surface missiles - Up to 8 missiles mounted[78] (confirmed) in two 4-round missile launchers, one on each wing (16 is likely possible as JAGM uses Hellfire missile body)

Guided missiles would be way to overpowered with maybe the exception of the AIM-9 for AA purposes as they can be flared by other aerial vehicles but I will talk about balancing measures later.

Cheaper and less demanding upgrade to arm the existing UH-1Y: This could be done relatively easy as the flight characteristics and outside look are not substantially changed. The UH-1Y would then be armed with:
2 external stations for 70 mm (2.75 in) Hydra 70 or APKWS II[48] rockets
2 pintle mounts for 7.62×51 mm M240D machine guns, .50 in (12.7 mm) GAU-21 machine guns, or 7.62×51 mm NATO GAU-17/A Gatling guns

Acquiring these armed version of the vehicles: As you may have read my idea for acquisition should be done through the customization of the UH-1Y, now how could this be done? Well the requirement would be a hangar where with enough materials and power the heli can be customized to your desire with the full conversion to the AH-1Z would be the most expensive. The hangar is also where the weaponry can be rearmed and upgraded. For example the UH-1Y would start with the M240D which then can be upgraded into either the GAU-21 for more firepower or the GAU-17/A for more suppression (you could also do a mix with 1 side having the 17 and the other the 21).

So the main concern for balancing is due to the nature of helis they are usually in the air and quite high up whilst moving quite fast. This could if implemented poorly give them a de facto immunity status especially to less advanced players. To fix this I would implement 2 things: Single use MANPADS and larger caliber AAA.
For MANPADS to stick with the trend of eastern small arms I would add the 9K38 IGLA for longer range but these are limited in closer ranges and can be flared by helis and are limited to a single shot per unit so they only really work if the heli is caught lacking (skill issue) or it is out of flares. The ZSU-23-2 would be the perfect companion for the IGLA as they are perfect for point defence like bases and work at every range up to 2km depending gunnery skills and evasive maneuvers. For the real madlads and ammo wasters the MESBAH-1 is also a possibility as it is essentially 4 ZSU-23-2 strapped together. For long and close-medium range the ZSU-30M is a good option with targeting systems and IGLAs fitted but it would be a lot more expensive. A base with a ZSU on the roof would be very risky for a heli to engage so to counter the countermeasure it would be smart to drop off friendly infantry relatively close for them to destroy AAA emplacements pre emptively as they are quite fragile (lots of mechanical parts required for operation easily destroyed by HEAT warheads).
