There's been a lot of talk about skins and customization as purchasable but how about findable paint cans and brushes throughout the world? Just a simple painting system to paint walls ect to match peoples personalities, could also consider spray pain to paint vehicles or a canvas of some sort to hang on walls. it keeps customization of things open and free could maybe make it so they have to be found in medium-high tier loot areas.

Way more better as in cod "pay 20 bucks for weapon skin" or in this case different type furnitures or reskins like rust has with the building system. (But not been payed for)

Grind makes games stay longer active. Not sure if no grind at all by just snowballing will be the right call. For what building then anyways? Like customizability should be rewarded by farming, looting and such. Not sure.
For example You would need to find cans of paints , need recipes and maybe a Workbench (mixer) which you don't unlock by the beginning to mix the colours you like. The dev could make a color palette ๐จ and easy I guess.

I mean thats all it was for, some free options that can be earned in game for those that may not be able to support for the exclisve stuff, maybe hand out some basics at a lower level and then get something a little more rare or unique at a higher level or higher tier loot area
