#chess tribe

so like a tribe that every unit is basically just a chess piece
and their movements are like chess pieces
pawn can move any direction, but can only attack diagonally
it can promote if it touches the other edge of the square to the edge it was closest to when it spawned
to make pawn not entirely useless, it has dash so it can attack diagonally after moving forward. it can also attack friendly units, as a way to make sure pawns arent laterally locked if enemy just isnt in its range
knight L shape obviously, ignores terrain and unit obstructions
rook would be any direction indefinitely
bishop only diagonally
so the idea is that this tribe converts any square the units step on into chessboard
and the cities convert into chessboard too obviously
so any tile thats a chessboard has all of its terrain deleted
the queen is just rook+bishop obviously
but the king is different
the king dies if its fully surrounded by units (doesnt matter if its enemy or friendly
all units except the king die in two hits, no matter what unit hits it
but they also one shot any unit thats worth less than 8 stars, and two shot any unit worth 8 or more stars
the king one shots everything
@strong junco interested?
pls I would LOVE to see this in action
oh yeah and all the chess piece's cost would be equal to their material worth in chess
There was an unfinished attempt to make chess got quite far but it was long time ago
I don't remember by whom
but its not a chess tribe its literally chess
when I learn C# I will
but for now..
hieee
how would attacking friendly pieces work does it actually damage them
also what's the point of chessboard tiles
like u js kill it i guess
it deletes resources
so only the chess tribe can use it
"cover" is a better word
if the opp has chessboard tiles in their terrain, they still have to "uncover" the tiles to use their resources
works kinda like break ice
Cool idea
Each tile could graphically have 4 tiles within it to get the checkerboard pattern
And mountains could have those 4 tiles at different elevations
Don’t know what you would do for forests, water, fish, animal, fruit and metal though
the idea was it covers up resources
so while mountains would stick up, other resources cease to exist
and also water becomes solid so yeah theres that
what if you could place white and black tiles separately
and bishops could only move on the color they were trained on
that was more what I was thinking
meaning bishops are a 3 star unit that can move indefinitely along any black/white tile
and also one shots
basically hexapods that can affect half the map
but worse hexapods cos they oneshot EVERYTHING
wait was it one shot
yeah one shot
seems op if you ask me
I think its better if bishops still keep to only diagonal movement
but yes the visual thing is the tile is either black or white in a checkerboard pattern
Ooh, maybe different color tiles would represent different terrain types. You could make it so that the bishop could only move on one tile color by specifying their movement terrain to field or forest or mountain
but its no longer a chessboard :/
