this could probably be done in gld using the grow ability
especially since they fixed the problem of growing units healing to full hp
infinite gld and sprites

units start at normal hp, then gain 10% hp per turn until they are veteran (after 5 turns). they stay like that for 3 turns then they lose 10% hp per turn until they are at 0 hp and die of old age
