But isn't it a bit boring for so many of Militas' units to be (almost) just reskins of normal units?
I was thinking this over lunch (mostly because two fighter jets passed overhead) and I had an idea (although it'd mean changing a lot of things):
Aerial warfare should be in it's own branch (not sure which one would fit better), with units having the "Airborn" ability that makes them immune to attack or retalation from non-flying melee units and include:
- Fighter jet, 3 movement, escape, can only attack flying units, cannot capture cities, villages or ruins;
- Bomber plane, 2 movement, escape, "bomb" ability that deals splash damage around it to non-flying units only, cannot capture cities, villages or ruins;
- Chopper, 1 movement, persist, can only attack non-flying units.
So if you can combine the 3 it's destructive, but otherwise it's just okay.
There would also be possibilities for several tank variants in the riding branch I think. And I'm not sure about how to implement it but a tank desent ability for some tank to move regular troops with them would be cool.
Overall I think Militas could afford to a lot of very specialized units rather than the regular amount of somewhat generic units.
I think nukes/rafts should damage friendly units instead of just ionizing them
them being raft is a visual bug

I think it should only allow the opponent to break peace for free, not force it.
Like, when you suffer colateral damage from a Militas tribe, you get an option for the whole duration of the next turn to "report a war crime" which just breaks peace with no downsides.
I heard what you are saying that you want the units to be more different than the normal units in the game
I think what we made here is fine. I personally do not like special tribes that are significantly different from regular tribes. For example, I think Cymanti has too many special abilities and units. This tribe was mostly to put guns, tanks, and nukes in the game as an April fools idea
If you want, go ahead and make a new special tribe that specializes in aerial battles. That is beyond the scope of this project

Right, I believe only skins will work in multiplayer, not custom tribes. But only you would see the custom skin, not the opponent.
Since you guys all went dark with this anyway, what about a unit that like taints the land
Something that salts the Earth so to speak and makes it unusable for a certain period of time
Dirty bomb, lingering gas cloud, literal salt etc
That could be styled two ways that I can see
A tribe that pollutes or takes the resources of the land
Or a mythical tribe like the elyron skin that corrupts the land (Could be cool and give some sort of effect like poison)
We should do something with visual effects of Militas warriors and archers shots because they look too unrealistic. The shots sound great, but these fire balls would better be changed into Cymanti phychi shots as rocket launchers kept the fire ball visuals
The soldier attacking looks a little weird because it shoots and then smacks with its gun

I believe it was created as a purely defensive unit. More range would allow more aggression with them, which may have not been the developers intent 🙂
ah, i see them as more of a siege tool to kick out units from walled cities
I can see that working as well, especially since catapults do less damage
Just FYI, all levels of nuclear launcher above 1 are visually a raft, they still work, but they are visually a raft lol. I think it could be as a result of the recent update.
They just haven't made the sprites yet 🙂

Water Temple - Prison, make it a prison, on an island, cause where else are you supposed to send "enemies of the state"

Mountain Temple - Ski Resort, a nice fancy mountain top ski resort so the ultra wealthy can escape the cities and pretend to be physically active

Forest Temple - Gated Communities/suburbs, the middle class has to live somewhere, they can't interact with city slickers, and there's no way they're touching the slums

Who needs peace treaties when you can just kill everyone, sometimes I legitimately forget diplomacy is even an option

nah you can, just close the little thing that says you can’t and then the pop up that usually shows up will show up and you can confirm the treaty
at least that’s how the embassies work

this exact thing has happened to me as well
then i was able to move those launchers around on ships and spawn them infinitely many
some similar bug where a bot begun to spawn launchers all around happened to me too
and it was so annoying to break those defences
IDK if there is a bug: you can only build a nuke-launcher per city, but if you destroy your own nuke-launcher when there is a ready nuke, you could build a second nuke-launcher. Is this correct?

@buoyant anchor I think the balancing is great, but I have noticed a few bugs. The missile launcher and nuke launcher don't have the attack line when you look at their profile in the tech tree. Also, nuke launcher doesn't evolve, it stays level 1.

Klipi, I finally tested new Militas and found some bugs. I am not sure if someone already told you, that's why I list them:
- Ambience and tribe music is absent. As for other tribes and marine ambience, they're okay.
- Attack rate disappeared in stats of most units. However, I could see it in nukes
- Esthetical one — the outline of unused submarines looks shifted downwards

How does the nuke launcer work?
U place it on a tile, and it level ups slowly. If it doesnt level up for you, it means that there is a mod conflict btw

I thought about having my own take on Militas with more serious sprites (no more mc donalds) and taking a lot of their units that are currently just reskins of human tribe units and making them actually unique (namely the warrior, archer, rider, equivalents, the tanks, and all their naval units)
