yep, even if you authenticate using your own client's credentials, the ratelimits are devastating

and you can't really pull much info from other users

but its very

inefficient

It would be just performing OCR, detect keypresses to capture stuff like scoreboard and then have a receiver api on standby to then distribute it to other parts of the infrastructure

The best way to minimize latency would be to directly write OCR results in database and have the database ping the web server when there's a change for it to fetch

Anti cheat shouldn't interfere if we're not displaying anything ontop of the game window, simulating any keypresses or abnormally taking screenshots

our OCR has to be smart enough to know when to screenshot to minimize risk

A static interval of a second is too risky

The most complex part of all this is literally the scoreboard

Player names are unpredictable, and accuracy isn't guaranteed

We can get superstring names from the loading screen and link it to the player names

assuming app doesn't crash / closed in the middle of the game, otherwise we need to implement persisting somehow

So yeah this is... alot of work

and wouldn't work properly outside the context of wanting to host a tournament

although the scoreboard does not seem to be directly from demo file, rather records from the server

it will be extremely difficult to do it realtime if there is no public API provided (but as long as idreamsky intended to make the game an e-sport, i think negotiation is not impossible though)

actually for this demo I literally used OCR for the scoreboard

but it was manual and painful

manual works are inevitable for now, but pasting a screenshot is not that much of work for the organizer

Can we have regional tournies? NA/SA are close distance and able to play with not much of problem. So NA/SA goes together. And there's APAC, EU, and West Asia. Without tournies... it's hard to motivate in Strinova.

🍋 LemonTV started just because I wanted to learn from good players, but I ended up getting really into watching matches, analyzing games and following tourneys. Since no one had done it, I got curious (and a bit frustrated) and decided to build something I wished already existed.

It is still small and has a long way to go, even some basics aren't done yet, but I never expected it to get this far, or that I wouldn’t be building it alone. My health hasn’t been great so I can’t move fast 🙇‍♂️ but I’ll keep at it.
