Just looking at our Korean team, we had to sacrifice sleep, getting only 1 to 2 hours of rest per day while competing. I think other teams have also experienced the same situation.

Two weeks ago was already longer than expected because we added double the teams last minute, can we do same start time as last week in top 16 at 12 PST and instead do BO5 single elimination, only playing 2 matches a day

I’ll say that any later just fucks over apac more, APAC can be assumed to be 15 hours ahead of PST so at 7am PST on Sunday they are starting at 12 AM on monday. Pushing this back 5 hours means anyone with responsibilities from apac cannot play the second day (which matters way more than day 1). Even in the scenario where the format is changed to single elimination bo-5, you have to assume that the games will go maximum time for scheduling purposes and under that assumption and assuming every game takes ~40 min with pause between and time for prod if streamed, you are looking at 3 hours and 20 minutes a series! Which puts the pacing at slower than if it were just 3 bo3s a day at slowest pace (a lot of the games last week went the distance!). The lower bracket is mildly unnecessary, but only when you look at it in context that the revival match existed, or you assume that the qualifiers to get to top 16 were more than qualifiers. If you look at this format in the context that it is very similar to VCT champs 2024, it looks semi normal! Also the losers bracket games don’t add any time onto how long the players have to play as every losers bracket game is scheduled at the same time as a winners bracket game, so this is a non issue in comparison to the timing thing. I completely understand if some teams decide it’s not worth it to play! If anyone has a solution that works for both apac and na (and eu but less so) but like actually works for them please let us know! Wanting change and coming up w/ a solution are different things and I spent an hour while I was supposed to be sleeping last night debating with Bri trying to find a better time and came to the conclusion that while this is grueling, it may very well be the “best” time when taking into account both apac and NA
