In the current event ( actual spoilers for last part if you weren't impatient and did not check wiki )

The phrases Meredith reads:

“By the wish of the presumptuous.” - Hubris / PUS
“By the wish of the devoted.” - Faith / Scissors
“By the wish of the desiring.” - Passion / Urbino

They are not a prayer but a "compiler sequence". Each “wish” corresponds to one condition of human consciousness that lets the manifold rewrite itself.

Lilith says:

“Remember, it was you humans who summoned me.”

That’s literal;y humanity’s interaction with the manifold - A personification of the manifold’s self-awareness of desire.

I kinda love how Lilith speaks to the 3 leaders xD

Cursed Priestess - Flavia
PUS trying to master the manifold through reverence and control, to contain the divine within bureaucratic law. But strinova is alive; it resists containment.

Self-bound Strategist - Meredith seeks to solve the manifold, to treat the divine equation as a problem to decode.
She is the strategist who sees every path, the Laplacian archetype who believes calculation can free humanity. Her knowledge become her boounds.
She can see the loop but cannot break it.

Im - I believe this word is blocked - ent Hero - Baimo in Lilith’s lens, is “ contains blocked word” because his heroism operates within a decaying system he cannot alter.

ok, i'm derailing xD

Chip skin - Origin
"As humanity came into contact with superstrings, a new era began."

So the Strinova’s “demons” are basicaly subsystems of the Calabiyau manifold, each tied to a philosophical or physical paradox.
They are fragments of humanity’s attempt to touch the core, believing it's capable of manifesting thought as matter. That would be Opal's main goal.

Tbh, can't understand not think clearly since 3am and haven't slept yet
But the revised theory for superstring evolution and stages I did a while back actually
Where the superstrings manipulate the variables of an infinite "universe" (by all dimensions, versions, by time and by space)

I didn't expand on it back then because it's a revisional theory
But there is a rebound to the manipulation of the spaces in hilbert spaces mentioned in that theory.

Newton's 3rd law of motion. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

And these shepherd class crystalline are that rebound.

Oh, right, I should explain the rebound.
In the Superstring branch of Hilbert spaces, Due to the fact that superstring theory comprises of strings that allow perfect rationalization of individual variables, The math in hilbert spaces rebound by redoing the equation every time something gets changed to make sure that the end result doesn't change.

But what if, The rebound for the direct manipulation of this math is these evolved crystallines.
The unending equations that is trying to fix a universe mixed with the ever changing frequencies and variable, that is superstrings.

One of my old theories did point that the Crystallines might be a form of "immune system" for the universe that Strinova is in.

And the target is the refugee humans, whose mathematical existence does not mesh well with the math that comes with the Universe that Strinova is in.

Sooooo we have Maxwell’s Demon - aka Control over entropy and flow of information.
Literal in-game quote: “I decide who gets to pass.” Suggests a gatekeeper role in the String Flow.

Information = Energy
The Collapse syndrome and Erosion Flow could represent physical collapse from informational overload aka humanity spent too much energy manipulating data/reality.

Therefore remaining humanity’s wish to “rewrite” or in better wording 'simulate" the universe (String Energy) causes instability.
The world literally overheats and collapses from informational stress.

Solution created the problem.

#

come to think of it, lemme switch it.

Maxwell’s Demon - the paradox of thermodynamics and information. Humanity's attempt to regulate the manifold: classify, filter, and stabilize chaos
so PUS

Laplace’s Demon - a being that, knowing all positions and velocities, can predict the entire future. Humanity tries to foresee and alter destiny through total understanding of data.
so Scissors

Lilith - a being of free will and untamed emotion.
Humanity attempted to recreate life and consciousness through the manifold. (hi maddy)
so Urbino

#

Maxwell is the body (matter/information).

Laplace is the mind (awareness/causality).

Lilith is the soul (emotion/desire).

Thanks to the landauer principle, it may be possible

#

I remember someone explaining it "as the cost of forgetting". Thats a good way of putting it. The thing that makes your PC hot is actual the memory wiping operations most likely or any other calculations you cannot reverse

stiff magnet
graceful crown
stiff magnet
#

It's more "people trying to play gods", and erasure of memories causing overload

#

Look what happened to Meredith

graceful crown
#

Basically Laplace's demon (more Laplace's omnipotent being because it's more that) basically states that a system is reversible if you can know everything. Maxwell's demon is basically, (thanks to the statistical nature of thermodynamics) it is possible for a system to have a state of high entropy and a demon probably did it by sorting the particles. Now comes landauer to exorcise those two by stating that the demon knows everything and can sort it (effectively making Maxwell's demon also a Laplace demon) but the information in the demon will increase in entropy but to complete the sorting, the demon must fuck with the information and if that information itself is unfuckable, fucking with it must transfer it's entropy.

Basically, any system with states being in a random distribution will "pass the entropy" to somewhere else. I'd say that Maxwell's demon is the reason why compressing data is kinda hard.

#

Thanks shannon

#

Also thanks to you von neumann somehow moved the entropy down to the quantum level and used entanglement as means for said entropy

#

and because of said entropy, you exist as you are

graceful crown
#

somewhere has to absorb that operation.

#

probably their string sequence.

#

the problem i have now is how do we reconcile it with at least shannon's entropy

#

will their memories be equivalent to them observing the information of a system?

#

their minds who encode the experience and encode into memory become unstable because they require more information to hold all the states and for such remembering operations be reversible

#

the moment they hit reality is when they reach a "stack overflow" where they reach something nonsensical or, if memory can be infinite, a state of memory equivalent to the heat death of the universe for all your experiences must now blend together.

#

to "reincarnate" (or whatever happened to mere) is going to require the entropy to put everything in a certain state like a tape where everything is 0

#

the read head must read, the tape mover must move, the write head must tamper, the turing machine will compute

#

who will incur the chaos they must order? is it their string sequence?

#

now that i think of it, is it like ascending when all your experiences reach such a point? is that what finding the meaning in life? finding the lowest entropy state possible from your experiences

stiff magnet
#

So if every human thought alters this entropy and
the act of remembrance "burns" reality’s fuel...
When the mind reaches limit, it cannot forget, and simply cannot live.

The manifold absorbs what we cannot.
It absorbs "crystalized" desire, the collective disorder.
It's Lilith xD

graceful crown
#

reversible operations incur no entropy for it is a sealed system

#

is it because remembering is not just hard but impossible to be truly reversible that it causes such "leak of entropy" like how we need extra bits to error correct

stiff magnet
#

in theory, yes but the observer can’t stay perfectly isolated. You'll have leaks that turn reversible into irreversible

#

bwaaa, I need to go to work.
will be back oin 30 min

graceful crown
#

so the imperfect humans who invade, with their imperfect remembering, lower the entropy of the world, because they need "an extra ecc bit"

mild venture
# stiff magnet come to think of it, lemme switch it. Maxwell’s Demon - the paradox of thermody...

Okay, this is definitely going into my notes for the episodic strinova fic I'm writing as potential for arcs later on.

Spoilers because it's just fanfic stuff I don't want to force anyone to read: ||It starts actually 5 years after the game's beginning where CS was mitigated during the time and it's why The Scissors are losing the war but there's indications that it may well rear its ugly head again||

stiff magnet
#

I love the "imperfect remembering"
Because that's what it is. Everything in strinova is created with how people who migrated there remember and understand it.
Strinova IS reconstructed projection of collective cognition.

Strinova is basically a it’s a lossy compression of earth reconstructed from imperfect data.

To misremember is to corrupt ♥

Therefore, this "imperfect remembering" literally lowers the entropy of Strinova, because the world must over-correct their cognitive blabbling xD

#

entropy is a painful subject for anyone

graceful crown
#

through the noisy channel of humanity

#

strinova recieving and decoding the instructions would be more disordered from the information being processed

stiff magnet
# graceful crown through the noisy channel of humanity

Hmm but disorder rises from the channel noise and costs of processing, right? Not from decoding itself.

In clearer words, It's processing that causes disorder. The data transmission itself is imperfect.
So our "demons" represent attempts to fix or oundo the "noise"

To make it easier to understand for others xDDDD

Humans transmited Earth’s data through the corridor (Maxwell’s Demon), and because all that data is partial - meaning that all truths are encoded. Aka even humans that went through the corridor are not 1:1 human. Only the reflection of them. They're literally consciousness sequences - fragments of information that define a person’s existence inside the manifold. Game has hints all over the old trailers and many chip skins.

lemme quote Flavia's novel:
" Later, humans on Earth began to migrate to Strinova, and the two sisters also arrived in this new space through the Human Corridor. However, during observation at the Long Gallery Drawing Institute, Flavia discovered a hard-to-accept fact - Sylphina was not only physically weak, but her “Consciousness Sequence” was also incomplete. This String Sequence fragility meant one doomed destiny - if she was seriously injured, she would be unable to be reconstructed and only face death. "

Flavia’s devotion to mastering the strings, her very wish for preserving her sister, the people, theEarth itself is founded on denial of that fundamental imperfection. This is why Lilith mocks her in recent event.

The Manifold (Strinova) tries to reconstruct the full pattern. But doing so overloads the structure; memory density grows until the system reaches collapse. Erosion flow aka reverse strings happen. So it needs an overseer, an algorithm that records all possible outcomes. - and that's Laplace (in game chip: Laplace's Demon has description : Time witnesses every choice)

So, as the manifold can never be a clean mirror to earth - Lilith is born from this very failure.
She's the entropy, the chaos that accumulated from all imperfect attempts to create perfect world.

tl:dr
we can have more lore entities after Lilith.
Laplace and Maxwell in some form. And that would be cool.

graceful crown
#

to decode a noisy signal (basically collapse it to a defined state), the number of possible states the decoder must know is higher than the signal itself. the process of decoding is thus in more possible chaos (forgot if that is more or less entropy) because it needs more info than the signal.

graceful crown
#

i.e. life itself. it requires a lot to make life and life requires more to sustain. those facts increase entropy. to maintain homeostasis, it must expend energy to get energy.

#

philosophically, you can think of our quest for knowledge being rather entropic.

#

funny idea, if we can prove reconstruction is an irreversible process, reconstruction may be linked to collapse syndrome if collapse syndrome is indeed a manifestation of the entropy beget by processing a human back into existence

#

did some researching on the demons. no the demon's are not equivalent, rather, if you want maxwell's demon to be unstopable in a classical sense, laplace's demon must be in its head

#

this leads me to a realization of sorts: a citizen of strinova is a maxwell's demon

#

this simplifies the rambling i had a while ago.

#

or rather not really a maxwell's demon in a thermodynamic sense

#

are they shannon's demon?

#

well not really because shannon did not deal with such things

#

dunno what to call it actually but a person living in strin but there are two possible ways that collapse syndrome is a manifestation of them being "maxwell's demon"

#

yes i am retreading old ground and the reason why is to make it coherent

#

the easiest to understand is the "stack overflow" interpretation. if memory is finite, when the information needed to maintain who they are is exceeded, we reach undefined territory and weird shit happens. this is similar to how PUS sees it

#

the next is going to have landauer involved. i think i'll call it either as the "memory mush" or "landauer is why we can't have nice things"

#

one thing is for sure, the landauer involved one requires (not really) infinite memory

#

but formulating it is hard (assuming infinite memory makes it easier)

#

so first think of the first interpretation. now imagine that memory is infinite

#

no more stack overflow

#

no weird shit but how is being a maxwell's demon suppossed to explain collapse syndrome?

stiff magnet
#

Wouldn't that make Navigator the Shannon's demon?
Navigator's function is to fight the collapse syndrome through observation, taking decisions, and memory management of Superstrings.
Literally trying to reverse informational entropy Classic

graceful crown
#

well we gotta bring in our man landauer who fucked the demon over (even if szilard did it first)

graceful crown
#

and thanks to my bro who is programming not knowing you need to flush the input buffer so that no fuckery happens when programming. it is an inspiration

#

navi remembering must increase the entropy somewhere

#

oh wait

#

fuck i forgor,

stiff magnet
#

it technically can exist, as it paralleling Maxwell. Shannon’s Demon would sort information or extract order from noise. SO exactly what Navigator does.

landuaer's principle states that any irreversible process done on information increases the entropy of the processor. This means that maxwell demon must know something about the system but for it to use what it knows about the system, it must put what it knows into a single state. what happened to the other states that the demon knew? well if we cannot get all possible states from the current state, the process is irreversible (we are not laplace's demon or rather laplace's god given the demon's omniscience) so now what happene to the previous state? well it seems to be forgotten. that means that it vanished into the ether or rather, it dissipated to somewhere beyond the demon. the forgotten stuff is moved somewhere increasing the entropy of whatever is beyond the demon (or just call it heat dissipation).

#

now there are now two sub theories to the landauer that i just realized and it correspons well with the two names i was chosing for this

#

first is "landauer is why we can't have nice things". humans are forgetful. we know that forgetting is the same as increasing entropy to the system we are part off so irl, it's us using brain power and using glucose ( i could go for some chocolate right now). in strinova, it's possible it's the memory sequence that loses coherence/gets disordered when they forget. for them to remain them, they must discard the wrong information but doing so, the invalidated states must wreak havoc somewhere and it is possible that the accumulation of such facts causes someone to collapse

#

the second interpretation is memory mush

#

similar to the "stack overflow" interpretation but the undefined behaviour is not achieved from breaking something but rather "losing yourself in the memories"

#

high entropy memory basically means that your memories require a lot of information to be recreated as your brain must cross reference facts to make it coherent

graceful crown
#

here comes a fun corollary, maybe theorem that may relate to shiinake's asenscion ideas

#

if the process is reversible, you become laplace's demon

#

let that sink in

#

(this is also where i falsely equated maxwell's and laplace's demon)

#

the ratio of the amount of entropy of their sequence to the knowledge they have may be related to their ascension. we can probably equate ascension to approaching being a true laplace's demon

#

if you become laplace's demon, that means you are a stage 5 at that point.

#

or you are enlightened

man i am losing coherence because it's 1 am but was what i wrote clear?

In addition to not being able to access my account from your official website with my email and password, it tells me that the server is experiencing errors, preventing me from seeing my account. The worst part is that months ago I unlinked my Steam account from Strinova to log in only with my email, and when I tried to use my Steam account, I can still access my account, but after 5 or 10 minutes I get the message 'data anomalies detected...' and I lose progress because I can't continue playing the game. graceful crown
# graceful crown landuaer's principle states that any irreversible process done on information in...

In simpler terms:

  1. collapsing the state of information irreversibly will increase entropy/be equivalent to extracting work from a heat engine
  2. if maxwell's demon is not laplace's demon also then
    a. the entropy of the system practically transfers to the demon's head. basically the memory of the demon is entangled to the entropy of the system it fucks with
    b. if the demon were to do it's task, it must collapse the state of its memory and since we have assumed that it's irreversible, 1 states that it will have to dissipate the "heat" for its work.
  3. if strinovans are maxwell's demon, then there are 2 ways that landauer's principle explains collapse syndrome
    a. landuaer makes pc's hot: forgetting (equivalent to resetting a bit/releasing memory or a state) has a penalty which is possibly increasing the entropy of their string sequence
    b. memory mush: affirming what is true/remembering may be also a cause of entropy if that is the equivalent of merging computation paths or if not equivalent, processing such a vast memory is still rather expensive. the thing trying to extract the entropy for work must incur the cost or fail which probably affects the string sequence
#

memory mush or the stack overflow are probably the best interpretation for collapse syndrome though.

#

doesn't mean the landauer theory is still not useful. ahiru touched upon that already

#

now if the memory mush interpretation does hold, it can segway nicely to shiinake's ascension theory for superstrings as we may equate the mastery of the string sequence to the ratio of the amount of data a being has to the stability of their sequence.

#

it also means that the top of the ascension makes you effectively a laplace's demon

wraith parrot
graceful crown
# wraith parrot Not a Laplace Demon But a demon of the 7 philosophies

what's the difference? well the reason i equate it to laplace's demon is because, in classical physics, given enough information, the previous state can be inferred given the current state. this is still relating to maxwell's demon because if maxwell's demon knows everything about the system it fucks with and its operations are reversible, that means maxwell's demon can know everything and can tell you what state it was in and will be. opening and closing the gate is beyond it now for it is the god of that system, a laplace demon. this is also why i prefer calling laplace's demon laplace's god

#

but then i realized my reasoning is wrong

#

just now

#

laplace's demon is knowledge, maxwell's is about the use of that knowledge through landauer stating that the demon doing such a task is no different to extracting heat as work in a heat engine

#

fuck got it backwards

#

it's more pumping heat somewhere, maybe the engine from the entropy of information in the demon's head

# graceful crown fucking entropy and computer science

A Stage 5 superstring becomes an amalgam of the Demons of Physics (Maxwell's Demon, Laplace's Demon, Shannon's Demon), Szilard Engine, Landauer's Principle and the Demons of Philosophy, namely Nietzsche's and Descartes.

Szilard, Landauer and Maxwell in a singular.
Szilard states that rather than a demon, A single molecule, is the one responsible for the sorting instead of the Maxwell's Demon.
Landauer and Maxwell combines in the fact that, in L's principle, it allows the fact that M's demon does infact, Have a price.

Shannon's demon deals with efficiency of a system, One can only be so effective and efficient when some other system fights back. This system would correlate with my old theory that Superstrings becomes Superstrings because of Emotion. Intense enough the cause structural changes to their information.
And the only way to reach full godhood for superstrings (Stage 5) is to lose emotions making them perfect computational machines.

And this is where the last 3 demons comes into play
Nietzsche's, Descartes and Laplace's Demons
Nietzsche's demon implies that in every reality, Every version of you lives the same lives and you know it. This correlates with Laplace and Descartes because even though the superstrings know that their lives will be the same, they also have knowledge of everything and anything and they will reach the point where they make everything believe in a false reality.

A loop, A Stage 5 Superstring once existing, will always exist. They will always go down the same path even if they already know they're going down the same road.

This also ties in with the Revised Theory of Evolution for the Superstrings where once they reach Stage 3, They become semi-Godlike that manipulates everything in a small area
By stage 4, They become able to manipulate their own universe/dimension.
By stage 5, They become the computers that runs the omniverse

Of course that would be dependant on their original superstring abilities.

#

5 of these are demons of physics and 2 are demons of thought

Meaning it is in a state of very high entropy based on Shannon's demon since in Shannon's eyes, The higher the information unpredictability the higher the entropy
And the collapsed are like that because their resonant frequencies in their string sequence are jumbled up

#

The vibration of the string sequence are still information afterall

#

The Strinovians are literally people who are coded (even if they're not computers/simulations) based on the vibration of their string sequences
Superstring are a bit above them because in the revised theory
They gain the ability to "recode" themselves and the higher they progress in the stages of the Superstring Ladder, They gain the ability to recode the environment (stage 2), recode the local box (Maxwell demon reference) (stage 3), recode the universe they are in (stage 4), Recode the entire omniverse (stage 5)

Maybe that's why the Collapsed appeared
They are also part of Entropy backlash of the Superstrings manipulating the sequences of the world

#

The Crystalline is the Strinova Universe's way to expel outsiders
While the Collapsed is the backlash outcome of the Superstring using their abilities

#

@dull elk do we have precedence of a Superstring becoming or getting Collapse Syndrome?

It really depends on the game you're making theories on. Some give information, some just give context.
Strinova gave both but doesn't have the story to back it up

Right now, Strinova is like a rough draft of a novel
You know the events that will happened, has happened, when it will happed, why it happened.
However you don't know the story behind it.

Using those information that you have that were given, you try and piece and put pieces down together so that it makes sense.

Each sector once completed has a small block of text about how different characters are fighting against the Crystalline

#

Image to text conversion of the Tyve Oasis area report

Tyve Oasis: Gloom
Compiled from: Fuchsia
"I quit! Let some other sucker take this job! I'm not risking my life for a few hundred crystals!"
With the accelerator floored, the transport truck roared at maximum output, hurtling toward its destination. Though the route to Tyve Oasis was lined with lush greenery-a rarity in the Seeda Peninsula-neither Cielle nor Fuchsia could appreciate the view with Crystallines swarming in relentless pursuit. After all, no one could admire the scenery under such assault.
"No deal-we can't afford the breach-of-contract penalty." Fuchsia fired two controlled bursts to drive back the Crystallines clawing at the vehicle, then dropped back into the passenger seat to reload, dismissing Cielle's proposal.
"...Heh, sorry. I'm not on the battlefield because I love fighting," Cielle let out a bitter, gritted-teeth laugh. "I signed a contract, and I can't pay the fine!"
Got two updates," Fuchsia said, watching the speedometer climb as she tried to defuse the tension. "Which one do you want first?"
"The bad one!"
"I'm down to my last two spare mags."
"And the good one?!"
"Sensors show a massive host of Crystallines ahead, blocking our path."
"What...? How is that the good news?"
"Let me rephrase: a piece of bad news, and one that's even worse."
"Fuchsia! Just great!" The truck's velocity surged again.
Watching the shadowy figures begin to encircle them, Cielle sighed. "I have a plan."
She mentally scrolled through the operation's contract, verifying every detail. "We can use bait to divert them from the truck. The bombs are inert for now-hardly any String Energy signature." Makes sense," Fuchsia nodded. "We'll do it your way.
(1/?)

#

"Then it's settled-you're the bait." Cielle managed a thumbs-up amid the chaos.
"...Wait, what? And what about you?" Fuchsia challenged.
"I'll be driving, obviously," Cielle retorted with unshakable confidence.
With no superior alternative, Fuchsia grabbed her spare magazines and leaped from the speeding transport. She landed, fired precise shots to seize the Crystallines' attention, then
peeled off, running in the opposite direction.
But there were too many. Even as she fought, a glance back confirmed a sizable group still doggedly chasing the truck. The dry click of her empty weapon prompted a heavy sigh. "Should've just taken the penalty hit from the start."
"... Told you, I can't pay it!" A radiant curtain of light swept in, scattering the Crystallines like feathers from unfurled wings.
It was Cielle, having activated her "Winged Princess" combat rig. "And don't think you can milk extra hazard pay through
excessive battle damage!"
Where's the truck?" Fuchsia asked, accepting the backup
weapon from a battle-hardened Cielle who had come to share the burden.
"While you were in the cab, I forgot it had an auto-nav system engaged."
"...On purpose, wasn't it?"
"Irrelevant now. They're all after us. Let's move!"
The two broke through the Crystallines' encirclement along their planned escape route.
"Speaking of which," Fuchsia suddenly remarked, "doesn't it feel like they're acting differently this time?"
The fleeting relief on Cielle's face evaporated, replaced by a replaced by a gnawing unease.
"If the pack has started hunting strategically, there's only one explanation."
She locked eyes with Fuchsia, confirming their shared
realization.
"Their 'Alpha' is here."
Beneath the oasis trees, the two mercenaries fell silent. Dappled
shadows danced as the wind whispered through leaves, filtering the sunlight into a dim, ominous glow-like countless eyes, silently watching their every move.

Additional explanation to the old sequence / requirements for strinovians to evolve through the levels of Superstrings.

We already know that the souls of strinovians are the combination of Memories/Memory Sequences and Emotions.

Them (Strinovians) reaching Stage 1 makes the Emotion side to the Soul become closer Quantum Sequences/Strings.

(Explanation — Humans when migrating to Strinova had their "Memory" evolve, into what we know as Strings.
They are still human, missing a few to become superstrings.)

This basically turns them into a full string/information based life form.

To get to the realms of Stage 2
They need "Reason" or "Force of Will" to be able to control their own vibrations, resulting in them deceiving, therefore, manipulating the Sea of Strings.

Meredith is ancient, she was one of the very first people who stepped into strinova. And that was at least 100 years ago, given that you're not fully immortal when you get implemented xD
Everyone's Nodes gradually decay, not only hers. So they had a test group to know that when you're about 100 years old, you're prone to collapse.

#

Thooooo.... we can take her age (19) and use it as indicator when base S12 was destroyed. She got reincarnated, and that would restart her "aging"
Add half year and that's when Scissors came to be. xD

stiff magnet
#

It's more than a time loop. I'd say a state-space attractor loop.

Humans are no longer biochemical.
They are string sequences.

We got confirmaton that a person is not one timeline.
Basically they are a vector across multiple dimensions. Navigator can reach out into any dimension (thanks to the bracelet), and pull out lost fragments (memory)

So - Memory is not stored in time. When your body (sequences) are reconstructed after injury or death, it does not “rewind” time. It simply re-installs previous copy.
It aligns with how Kokona's ult works. She has access to copies of PUS/Urbino members. And this is why you can't res Scissors.

#

Also explains how Legendaries work

#

You get loops/resets in areas PUS nuked.

#

All to cover up the truth

#

And the truth is - they wanted their own utopia. And they can't have it when people want to go back to Earth.

#

So they play gods and reset/nuke entire cities to ensure no one would dare to escape. After reset and reincarnation, ppl no longer rebel, as they are given new personality or life even.
They did that with Meredith when she discovered the nuclear weapon they use to reset cities. Boom, and she woke up in new job xD

Now real question that'd probably be used for a 4 panel gag and never again. Does the string sequence require a specific body structure, or can a string sequence be put in the incorrect body?

dull elk
#

As for an actual answer to that question, we don't exactly know. The best guess is that there's probably at least consequences to that.

Evidence being - How current characters don't really have any major alterations (the two biggest being Yugiri and Meredith; Yugiri being the literal product of human experimentation, Meredith having an innately less stable String Sequence), how Ming and Lawine's disguises in the manhwa didn't change her physical appearance too much (despite it being way smarter to have more alteration).

#

And "putting a person in the wrong body has nasty consequences" wouldn't be a first either - just off the top of my head, there's Dissociative Exomind Rejection from Destiny 2 (where the human rejects their robot body and leading to outcomes like, I dunno, literally tearing themselves apart).

I've read the theory about Superstring stages. That's pretty strong as fanfiction but the grief as a prerequisite breaks against Eika. Her motivation has absolutely nothing to do with grief - she's a teen implementing teen's ideas of justice and the only notable difference is the presence of her powers

#

The only thing Flavia's story shows is s not the importance of emotions - it's the fact her powers are a specific manifestation of her prevalent fantasies - she was hung on butterfly imagery and the "butterfly dream" long before she became a Superstring, let alone before she let loose

#

Still, the more I read of the materials, the more I am reminded of Perimeter. And it's a good similarity.

#

And I greatly suspect the reason Superstrings become Superstrings is deliberately vague

dull elk
#

Or that we are, justified or not, reading into it too much because the devs themselves never gave it as much thought.
We read into the Sanctuary of Chaos entry like it's some sort of hint at a grander story rewrite. To the devs, it could be simply just "yeah, we need to write in a justification for the existence of marketable anime girl Crystalline with bouncy badonkers."

#

Grief would be the most adequate emotion to put here since it's the most common factor against all of them
Grief isn't something that is expressed in a singular uniformed manner afterall

#

Meredith's Grief should be learning the truth about base S12, what happened to her team and the mind wipes.

Kokona's might be from her parent's abandonment

Mara's — her team and the cold shouldered callousness of the Government

Nobu from his brother's betrayal

#

However one experiences Grief is solely dependent on how that person relates to something they deem "important"

And all of the Superstrings we have right now did lose some parts that one would consider "Important"

#

It might sound like fanfiction because a lot of theories will end up sounding like it at the end if one's uninitiated
But these are taken from the factors that correlate with each other

#

It's already in the new theories proposed on how superstrings go on into the path of their "evolution" and "powers"
It's molded by their thoughts, What they're fascinated with

graceful crown
#

and grief is also kind of old. it's more strong emotion now

wraith parrot
#

Eika gained Fire because of passion and hot-blooded driven thoughts of becoming similar to a Saviour

Flavia because she's enamored by the beauty of butterflies and how fleeting they could be

Meredith is sand because she's course, rough, easy to break at moments notice

Fuchsia is the same as Flavia, enamored by sharks she gained the ability to smell blood, sweat and the rest

Celestia's because of her love for astrology and becoming a shining beacon

#

It's also why I separated "Technological" and "True Superstrings" in the old theories

wraith parrot
#

There are things that you can't explain purely because it is emotional stimuli.

It's a bonus that it fits into place in with the theories

Because if superstring evolution is purely technological
It wouldnt make sense why they are so scarce even after like nearly 150 years of being in Strinova
And the highest level of Superstrings we see is Flavia/Mara/Celestia

#

These 3 are the highest rated I have right now because of what their superstring abilities have achieved for them, both ingame and lorewise

Flavia already has access to stage 3 area manipulation

Meanwhile the other 2 has access to different parts of the Sea of Strings
Celestia with her Ult and Mara with the integration of "souls" in her body (since souls are both memory and emotion, she's basically Legion-ing it (I am legion, For we are many type shit))

As far as I understand, even the Superstrings who use technology don't use the devices alone — as in, no one else can use them with the same effect.

Chiyo's story heavily implies that.

In fact, it straight up says control of Bablo energy is a matter of talent completely unrelated to trauma — that's how Chiyo got scouted by Flavia.

Now, exposure to more Bablo energy can definitely help grow that talent further, but that's obvious cultivation stuff, seen with both Eika and Mara, who literally learned to absorb said energy from her crystalline foes (ths crystals are, obviously, Bablo crystals)

#

(It's Chinese, of course it has cultivation mixed in. That's like every Japanese game having some food tourism in it)

#

On another note, I have strong suspicions Maddeleina's paint is made of souls

#

The reincarnation runoff, to be specific

#

She looks like the exact kind of person to just use something like that and smile doing it

To be exact, all skins are canon. The reconstruction is the process of drawing parralel world versions or something to that effect, not just body reconstructions

#

That'a why you literally input string sequences into the same particle accelerator that was used to refine the bablo crystal in the Season 1

#

You can even see them travel and transform

stiff magnet
#

Oh that reminds me... Michele spoke to her father from different dimension

weak gust
#

Collapse syndrome could also be referring to function collapse (Japanese houkai isn't originally used for that, but is still somewhat common thanks to direct "translation" from english)

#

The personality shift during reconstruction can also be connected to this and not just be the result of partial memory wipes — the navigator's job may very well include the process of finding the "right" parts of the person to bring back and assemble without making them self-contradictory

#

At least, PUS genuinely considers it a side effect, that they are trying to weaponize, but can't exsctly predict

#

Which obviously won't fly when seen from the side by those who saw people get taken away and just never come back, like Ming did

#

There's also Yugiri, who is living proof of shady shit going on

#

So there's no doubt they would weaponize it if they could

#

I doubt they can, though, considering that, like, over half of the Scissors are former P.U.S. members. Even Ming joined, trying to infiltrate them with no clear plan and then got welcomed by Meredith and Lawine (don't forget Scissors started as a cell within P.U.S)

#

Meredith's story does mention a backup, but it doesn't specify how it works and backup of what, exactly, it is

weak gust
#

(Out-of-game reson for background change is that the introduction scenes only look ok from the standard camera angle for optimization reasons, so the only times it's okay to move it without changing the background is when camera looks up and there's literally nothing other than the skybox visible)

#

(But I mean, out-of-game reason for Kanami's existence is someone on the dev teams enjoys yanderes, so those have no bearing on lore)

graceful crown
stiff magnet
# weak gust I doubt they can, though, considering that, like, over half of the Scissors are ...

Ming was already in Scissors then.

Looking at all the hints -
She was a gang leader in Preton, got involved in Preton's collapse syndrome containment by PUS, probably as usual ending up in jail.

Meredith (and Lawine) most likely were in Preton then, scouting because of PUS suddenly arriving there, what's already sus. They found loud individual opposing PUS and Meredith wanted that puppy.
Ming is someone with a strong anchor point. She wouldn’t bend for authority. She's someone who could become a problem…or an ally.
And Mere needed such people to mess with PUS back then.
So Ming became Scissors member - running sabotage, smuggling, and local intel missions, all without ever knowing the Scissors’ deepest goal.
She became a core member after proving herself and becoming Lawine's trusted friend. That's when Lawine filled her in with Scissors true goal, risking a lot if she wouldn't be on the same page as them.
Burdening her with talk of Earth, Human Corridors, Collapse, Bablo...
could only crush her spirit. Because ngl, it's huge deal for someone as simple minded as our Ming. So I love her answer.
“I’m not quitting. If we can’t live a good life in Strinova, then I’ll take everyone back to Earth to live a good life. It’s the same for everyone.”

Ming is “a natural rally point.” for Scissors. Someone who could lead citizens when the time came. This is why she's so valuable.
Citizens won't follow Meredith. But they will go after Ming.

#

A good example of the latter is Eika's enemy defeated voice line, whereshe calls the enemy for surrender. In English, it sounds as if she holds "normal life" hostage. In Japanese it's just "Don't you miss everyday life?" spoken with genuine worry, as if she's calling for disarmsment because it's the PUS' actions preventing the normal life from being possible

Strinova has a very different weight of death

#

So one doesn't need to be crazy to be as lighthearted about it as Kanami is

stiff magnet
#

it's hard to fear death when your consciousness can just be put in new body xD

weak gust
#

They change bodies all the time

#

Oh, Kanami's detection lines are epic, though. When her passive triggers, she doesn't use the word "Enemy" in Japanese

#

She uses "相手", which is used to refer to the opponent in match or a partner in an omiai

#

She isn't even hostile, and treats the whole thing as a game

#

The latter can also be seen on the "Scissors" bilibili story when she's unhappy to hear no one invited her to the operation

graceful crown
weak gust
#

Her Q is also lovely, and that one can be understood even withoit knowing the language. The intonation and use of a childish onomatopoeia says it all

weak gust
graceful crown
weak gust
#

Kanami'a situation is very different, though

graceful crown
graceful crown
# weak gust I see

If you read the All quiet on the Western front, kanami is what people are until someone gets hit by bullshit

#

In strin where the bullshit is trivial, and your job is to be an entertainer, you may be freaking out inside so you cope by thinking it's like something you know

stiff magnet
#

You're missing point of Kanami's character.
She grew up in a family where she never got attention. Seeking it, she found out about idols.
"The beloved, seen by all, shining idols."
She wanted attention, she wanted to be seen, so she became one through hard work.

Ming and her get along, and Ming often asks her to collect information, as no one would suspect an idol to be a spy xD
Even her choice of a weapon is nice. She can stay hidden as a sniper.

graceful crown
stiff magnet
#

She has a lot of inner conflicts

weak gust
stiff magnet
#

But in the end, she wants to guide people into a better tomorrow.
Her songs resonate with people, what helps them recover from collapse syndrome

graceful crown
#

Or rather anime is rather immature

stiff magnet
#

name 1 mature person that's not Flavia or Meredith

#

even Mere has her chuuni arcs

graceful crown
stiff magnet
#

Nobu is a blind dork.

graceful crown
#

Or rather blinds you

weak gust
# stiff magnet even Mere has her chuuni arcs

Meredith never left hers. Possibly a side effect from her stringification — there's quite alot to suggest she got transcribed when the tech wasn't stable, just like with Flavia's sister.

graceful crown
#

Stringification is when you go 2d in game

weak gust
#

Probably back from migration

#

It's also called stringification IIRC

#

Because you literally get transcribed into the string sequence

#

I mean, her emotions were unusual even before the incident in the lab

graceful crown
weak gust
#

It could be an effect of the travel, not just personsl disposition

graceful crown
#

Case in point: strinova not having male characters and women no older than Flavia anymore and the use of Ai to talk to a fake woman

weak gust
#

Either way, thank you for your explanations. That makes Kanami one of the better written characters from the worldbuilding standpoint, because she acts according to their world's laws, not ours

graceful crown
stiff magnet
# weak gust Meredith never left hers. Possibly a side effect from her stringification — ther...

Nah, she's the same.
Her personality didn't change. What PUS did was recover her and fug up with her memories.
Meredith was in Space Theory Department and after killing her, PUS put her in Weapons Testing Department. She had no idea at first that it was not "her" department. She just ... worked as told.
But because repetition allows your memory to find patterns that don't match, she gradually regained lost memories, realizing that PUS played her dirty. Then she sarted investigation and found out that she was killed.

weak gust
#

And her being one of the teo role models for Eika, who is a native Strinovan, makes it for a better character development down the line

#

Especially since her nonchalance and Ming's grim seriousness are in opposition, giving the whole thing balance

#

Mong is chuuni in her own right, just in a very different way

stiff magnet
#

Eika idealises Kanami, because kanami's songs moved her heart.

stiff magnet
#

Ming is a fan too, what was a surprise to me xD

weak gust
#

If I understood right, Eika herself started singing because she was inspired by Kanami

stiff magnet
#

yes

weak gust
#

And she was stringified not only as one of the earliest pioneers, she was also transcribed as a child

#

Or an early teen

stiff magnet
#

Kanami had a concert in Preton when the plane crashed and she got stuck there.
Remember that Preton is basically treated like third world. So a concert of idol was BIG, especially for the kids.

glass wing
weak gust
#

By 17, which is the age she was stuck at, she was already a researcher herself. And it could be just aggravated autism, but it could also be a result of her special circumstances — we have Yvette with similar problems, except with less complications connected to stringification

stiff magnet
weak gust
#

Speaking of flying

#

Leona mentions there aren't capability of flight for the string objects

stiff magnet
#

they had a plane

weak gust
#

And now we have those flying trucks(?) and those diamond-shaped waypoint things

glass wing

#

Okay

weak gust
#

There's the third mural and Leona was musing about flight being a gift

glass wing
#

Energy/Stringification
Regarding day-night cycles - they still exist
Regarding eating - Strinovans definitely still feel hunger, so implied that eating is more of a cultural pastime and/or something to stave off the feeling of hunger as opposed to any energy needs
Regarding the ocean - Superstrings obviously cannot Stringify in water - the ocean in Strinova is comprised of some Erosion byproducts that can induce sleep if Strinovans stay inside for too long
Regarding objects - they cannot fly under normal circumstances, at least not in the traditional sense of flight (hovering still seems possible, see Mighty Meow)
Regarding currency - Dream Tokens seem to be the main form of money used, with projected buying power to be equivalent to $0.40 USD per Dream Token
Conversion sourced from a large pumpkin being 50 Dream Tokens and a typical hammer being 80 Dream Tokens
Regarding jobs - it seems implied that Agents, despite having actual jobs, get paid very little and seem to need to take odd jobs to make ends meet
Regarding animals - most animals have not adapted to Strinova - while domesticated animals/pets like cats “exist,” they’re commonly robots constructed in the likeness of cats
Animals literally cannot handle Stringification as well, resulting in greatly accelerated collapse

weak gust
#

If I understood right, the "pain of stringification" there refers to transformation into a Strinovan rather than every time one goes flat

glass wing
#

Mhm

weak gust
glass wing
#

Only Strinovans can fly - objects composed of Strings cannot. According to the history books, the early years of Strinova played host to countless “tower post stations” responsible for facilitating the transportation of goods and gold imports. Every post station would have an investigator skilled at flight stationed there. They were responsible for monitoring potential dangers and ensuring that the roads could be operated stably and continuously.

One must have a strong will and optimistic desires to be able to endure such loneliness.

Leona’s Work Notes, Entry 3: Wall
I didn’t expect to see a man when I first opened the box the mural was shipped in.

#

Is this supposed to be it?

#

?

weak gust
#

Yes, thsnk you

glass wing
#

No problem

weak gust
#

I wonder if that means that flight wasn't a thing in general or that it only referred to flattened objects

glass wing
#

Idk. Either

#

Anyways

#

Can you please help me with something?

#

?

weak gust
#

?

glass wing
#

I sent you some messages

graceful crown
weak gust
#

And there's also that one thing that I can't post because I'm not allowed to post pictures for some reason

#

This prism is flying and you can see them both flying and crashed out of bounds on several maps IIRC

#

So there is flight in that world

#

So I can't understand whether it was a retcon or there is some object flattening going on in labs

graceful crown
weak gust
#

I see

#

That solves it

#

On another note

#

High tech, cheap lives, corrupt conspiratory surveillance-heavy government. Strinova really leans heavily into cyberpunk

#

I guess the loss of one's self we have in both Crystallines and reincarnation, too

graceful crown
#

it was more cyberpunk. dunno why they cleaned it

weak gust
#

Oh, I saw the footage. I loved the color palette

#

Also, the coats wete cut due to the collision. Biggest loss for honkan's character

weak gust
#

Like, theres a difference between "Surrender if you want everything to return to normal." (Literally "Surrender or the pupper gets it" kind of wording) and "How about we stop fighting? You miss normal life, right?"

#

It's obvious which Eika would mean

sleek remnant
#

Yeah I was going to agree the translation doesn't really hold up there

#

I think it's better to go off the CN voices rather than the JP ones in this case being a CN game and all

#

Although with Eika they all sound different

weak gust
#

My point is, while English uses tge direct translation of the words, it fails to convey the meaning

#

As for voice direction, I wouldn't be surprised to hear English localization didn't even have one.

Like, they just sent an email with lines in an alphabet order (like Bethesda does), got a .wav file and cut it up to put into the game.

sleek remnant
#

It definitely sounds like that but they also completely redid Kokona and Audrey's lines

#

I miss old Audrey pensivemaid

weak gust
#

Meanwhile, Japanese really plays with the intonations unavailable to Chinese language itself — the "Don't get in Eika's way!" Plays on similarity in how exactly Eika mimics Kanami's tone

#

In case someone is reading this and doesn't encounter Chinese often, the tone is a part of a phoneme, so zhì, zhí and zhī are different syllables and you just can't use the change in your pitch to convey the emotion, you use stuff like tempo or additionsl words instead

#

So Chinese always sounds sonewhat flatter in vomparison

#

It's a very rigid language and it makes loaning words very difficult, too

#

Also, a lot of things we in Europe and Middle East use tone for has to be conveyed through syntax, including attitude.

#

Point is, the direct translation from Chinese is very difficult to do and the MTL cannot be trusted, either

dull elk
#

localization is hard.

weak gust
weak gust
#

The worst part is that languages are only a part of social games (see Wittgenstein's lion) and good localization should fill those gaps to make it understandable

Map Workshop flavor story says some interesting stuff:

#

The printer in question was composed of two parts and looked very similar to a gun attachment. After installation, the printer could deconstruct the bullets within the gun into basic strings, subsequently reassembling them into various building modules through a drawing script set by the operator. Its principle was similar to that of Superstring active Stringification, but due to requiring specific carriers and program assistance to realize, could only build and draw specific modules.

#

Leona proceeded to skillfully and swiftly set up her printer and use it in much the same way as her Superstring ability.

#

So, Leona's block printing isn't tech

#

She literally makes them with her ability

#

It probably can also be extrapolated to Meredith, as the two hold very similar abstract-shaped objects they summon out of seemiongly nowhere

#

Unless it just meant attaching things to each other

stiff magnet
#

How they use their abilities .... I think it's more of how their Consciousness Sequence interfaces with the String Energy Network.
Eika or flavia - Their sequences are naturally resonant with it.
The rest uses devices to probably avoid neural overload.

And the way she completely changes when not at work to protect herself (amd the others) from burnout is actually mature as heck. It's an essential skill and that's pretty much the point of Chiyo's story

weak gust

The Manhwa is the alternate timeline in the first place

It'a not supposed to have the exact same positions of the characters IIRC

Kokona's dorm story is all about lonelines and burnout.

Chiyo with her strict upbringing is the most vulnerable to that

I love how they all went into food coma when Chiyo made them a proper meal.

#

It's also pretty good how the timeline of events perfectly shows why Kokona's fridge is mostly about the freezer

stiff magnet

she's a gremlin

weak gust
#

Just the shopping took half a day

#

And Michele's story shows her work side pretty well

stiff magnet

It's more that she doesn't like vegetables, and prefers meat and pizza.
So her fridge is full of frozen pizza and leftovers xD

weak gust
stiff magnet

I kinda love how both Michele and Celestia are like "I hope kokona won't find out" when they do stuff behind her back

#

They know she's a worrywart xD

weak gust
#

Nobunaga is hardly as connected with how busy he is

#

BTW, I don't see anything wrong with his voicelines in the legendary skin. Like, come on. When you give a guy power armor, not expecting him to enjoy it is simply unfair

#

At least he wasn't rambling about proper uniform

stiff magnet
#

xD

weak gust
#

One more random thing about Japanese localization

#

Michele's speech is VERY quirky there

#

It's a huge mix of net and gamer slang, like the use of -shi honorific in Japan usally used only among otaku when she calls for someone to revive her

#

But her "I" pronoun is interesting

#

She calls herself "honkan", which translates to "this officer" and is (rarely) used by government officials

#

It shows how she views herself and how eager she is despite her habits

#

One can also see that in one of the stories when she over-eagerly introduced herself right in the middle of old Preton, of all places

#

It was Ming or Scissors one, I'm not sure which

stiff magnet
#

Yeah, she's cute.
She has a big shoes to fill, as her father is considered a hero. So she is trying her best to carry his legacy. But she's not mature enough yet, and this is why the quirky side shows xD

sleek remnant
#

Just remembered, Chiyo has unique dialogue when she defeats Reiichi. Do we have any info regarding any interaction they could have previously had or is it simply stuff Chiyo has heard

stiff magnet
#

I rarely play Chiyo, so I never heard it

sleek remnant
#

She says "Your determination isn't strong enough to take you to the end"
Pretty general statement but it only plays against Reiichi I've noticed so I was curious

stiff magnet
#

That's interesting.
She surely was filled with information about Reiichi (and other ex-pus members)
But it sounds more personal, as if she knew his true motives, which his own brother doesn't understand xD

sleek remnant
#

Taking a wild guess here, but another voice line of hers mentions inviting someone to a seminar at her (assumedly) family dojo, so maybe Reiichi used to attend classes at her family dojo or something

stiff magnet
#

That would be adorable.
It would mean that she wanted to join PUS because she admired him.

glass wing

# mild venture look at the art on this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw7WVpLJyLw Kokona's OG...

You are forgetting Chinese is completely unable to use foreign words, including names. That's why correlating different localizations is important to establish the authors' original intent - some names are supposed to be Chinese, some have to be Chinese in Chinese version because Chinese language just doesn't allow for anything else. Like, Aika is a Japanese name, but it's also written in katakana and is transformed into Eika in English.

Celestia, however, is translated in all languages, which is interesting by itself

#

The common practice (as in, overwhelmingly common) for names to be "borrowed" into Chinese is to take similar-sounding hanzi with beautiful meaning and use them as a replacement. Japanese and Korean names can also be transliterated from the way they're written as they already use hanzi.

#

心夏 is read XinXia in Chinese and Kokona(FIrst kanji has kunyomi of kokoro, second is natsu and names have a bit different reading to usual compound words that use onyomi) in Japanese. The English used Japanese reading.

#

Yes, the Chinese is the original. That doesn't, however mean, that the name are supposed to be the Chinese names because they cannot be written any differently in that language.

When the "wrong crowd" is the core audience both factual and intended, it isn't the wrong crowd.

sleek remnant
#

Fair enough

weak gust
# sleek remnant I do like BA but they gatekeep themselves and get gatekept very hard

Also, the reason BA community gatekeeps so hard is because they would be gatekept from their own community orherwise, just as they're gatekept from everywhere else.

It's an immune response from enshittification. Even Warhsmmer already lost specifically because of the lack of proper gatekeepinf and getting eventually gatekept by the corporates seeking "wider audience".

(It is relevant to the lore discussion because lore in general gets corrupted through this exact process)

There is always a moderate need to gatekeep. Not fully, but to an extent. However, it is also business for devs and pubs, so it's not easy balancing

Somewhat agree. I am recently part of a community where we both welcome and gate keep newcomers at the same time because

  1. They are unaware of the culture
  2. Their ignorance to what the soul of the game is makes them problematic
  3. The game itself is hard to get into so they need to be drilled
#
  1. For a good game, they need to be "absorbed" for cohesion.

  1. We have to let those incompatible with the game leave with an understanding at least

It's a shame there haven't been any major developments regarding Strinova. It actually struck me as funny, yet true, that there aren't more male characters, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it is curious.
