In my opinion, getting people up to speed with the foundational worldbuilding is a bigger priority when it comes to story and lore. From what I can see, the game itself does a pretty poor job of that.

Beyond any cool factor, I'm pretty sure the opening missions just show "these are members of the Scissors that want to head back to Earth, they're fighting to steal a thing from PUS who want to use it to cure this issue known as Collapse Syndrome."

Whereas the actual baseline worldbuilding (from supplemental/CN material) indicates that it's more of a case of three factions in conflict with different motives in more of a moral grey area.

Basically:

• PUS - Security arm of main governing body, main goal is maintaining order with a side goal of curing Collapse Syndrome. Has some shady doings and controversial measures implemented.
• The Scissors - An insurgency that opposes PUS, main goal is to return to "the natural order" by migrating back to Earth. They are NOT a terrorist cell (despite PUS labeling them as such) because they still rely on some public support and make efforts to try and NOT involve civilians.
• Urbino - Neutral business conglomerate of multiple groups. Mainly about money, also working on a Multiverse Project regarding interdimensional travel. Has infighting potentially going on.

All three want the same resource (Bablo Crystals), and PUS holds the production of it - hence, resource overlap + ideological differences = conflict.

Which is fine - I know people who, on an ideological standpoint, would side with PUS more than The Scissors. But having looked at (and localized) a bunch of the other lore content, it does give more of a sense that no one REALLY has the undisputed moral high ground.

That, at least to me, is the main strength of Strinova's current worldbuilding, which is not explained well in-game. AFAIK most understanding of this whole "moral grey area factions" idea is disseminated from word of mouth from people who HAVE read the story and the lore.

Not that it's 100% necessary for a game that's a competitive shooter first and foremost, but if you want to expand on it, having the proper foundations is important.

I'm not here to argue or convince you which side is better, but from a pure storywriting perspective, the strength of what storytelling Strinova has is built on the "no side is truly good" foundations, which the game does not outline that well. If some plot development is something that wants to be done, getting that foundation in the game as opposed to requiring supplemental material is important.

And at least to me, some of that supplemental material that hasn't been officially in the game yet (stuff like CN story) definitely showcases this more. The big one (at least on The Scissors front) is an alternate theory on the root cause of Collapse Syndrome - implications being is that, based on their research, it's unavoidable as long as people continue to live in Strinova.

If I were to PERSONALLY throw myself into Strinova and pick a side, yeah, I'd probably stick with PUS because yes they're imperfect and have faults, but at least from what I've seen, it's not to the degree of requiring a violent insurgency to solve.

That's basically the gist of it, we're helping Celestia as part of her clinic, which works in general care AND also on the cutting-edge of Collapse Syndrome treatment/research.

The only real other details is implications that the Navigator might be a former PUS Collapse Syndrome researcher with amnesia, but that hasn't been expanded on (it only pops up ONCE, in the Season 3 story in CN).

But it seems like the Komos Tower was an "anchor" that allowed a protective shield or something to separate the "True Wilderness" from the safe area

It seems like the True Wilderness is a whole region outside of the safe area where strinovians either go crazy or just straight up vaporize(?) just by standing there

I'm not sure but the zombies from Outbreak mode might be the result of exposure to the True Wilderness

Speculation at best. Basically:

• Strinova is an alternate dimension. Most of the area (known as the True Wilderness) is an inhospitable/destabilized area that accelerates degradation of the inhabitants venturing in there. As such, most people in Strinova live in areas where towers have stabilized the area.
• Current theory based off of flavor text is that Crystallines are formed from some wandering "memories/souls" in the True Wilderness corrupting people.
• Reason why the whole Outbreak Crisis is happening is because one of the towers (Komos Tower) got blown up, thus causing regional instability and the aforementioned corruption of people in the Loch District in Preton.

But if you wanna theorize about it, t's possible that she could be wearing contacts, given that she's an idol, but it seems that Superstrings can have physical mutations like that too (Meredith having canine ears, for example), so it's entirely possible that's just how her eyes are.

Ehhh, this is a bit of a reach. Superstrings are supernatural, yes, but they generally follow specific sets of rules about what they can do. The String Energy Network fuels their powers, yes, but generally speaking their physical capabilities seem to be limited to turning 2D.

Flavia's ability is less of a change in her body, per se, and is likely more of an illusion connected to the Phantom Orb and Phantom Zone from her abilities granting her invulnerability. (for example, exiting the Phantom Zone will cancel her ability, and she can be damaged and killed from outside the phantom zone, giving the sense that it's like more of an illusion in nature, not an actual change in her physical makeup.)

Not to mention, the dangers already present in breaking down your body. From what I understand, what you're describing is closer to reverstring, which in and of itself is the degradation of a string being's mind, soul, and body. I doubt they would be capable of doing that to themselves, much less willing to.

The novel one

I briefly summarized it on another server.

So basically, Meredith used to be this big brain scientist in the Spatial Theory division at P.U.S. Real “quiet, cold girlboss” energy. She didn’t care about all the politics or drama between departments, just wanted to study string theory and explore the universe. BUT of course, P.U.S starts playing their little power games. They throw her whole division into this deserted base (S12) and basically abandon them there.

She and her team (who are like, idealistic science babies) end up thriving in isolation, having parties, bonding, acting like a chaotic little found family. And then, not joining a holiday party - Meredith discoveed the base is actually sitting on a ticking time bomb of a weapon—one that would blow up everything including them, the city (preton), and probably more

She tries to shut it down. They use key, but it won't register. Access denied. Turns out PUS meant for them to die. To cover up their failed weapon and wipe out anyone who knew too much. So boom—massive betrayal, the base goes up in flames, and Meredith is the only one who survives.

Flash forward and now she’s working for the very people who blew them up. She starts having weird vivid dreams that feel like memories—memories of the base, her friends, the betrayal. She keeps making notes every day, and eventually realizes that her nodes are diminishing - so she’s literally dying.

She starts digging. Uncovering files. Connecting dots. Realizes: She was recycled. Like, memory wiped, body reconstructed.
And the most messed up part? Nobody told her. They just… kept using her for her brain.

Then outta nowhere this mysterious dude (a doctor) shows up like “hey, wanna overthrow the system?” and Meredith’s like “hm. I’ll consider it. Ming took a deep breath and shoved her reckless idea back down.
The news continued to play on screen.
“You’re making me look like a coward,” Ming muttered, clearly unhappy.
“Still a no.” Lavine shoved a freshly brewed cup of tea into Ming’s empty hand.
But as night fell, the rumble of a motorcycle echoed through the streets—speeding straight out of the Scissors’ turf.
“Like hell I’m doing nothing!”
Throttle maxed out, Ming blazed a trail toward the official’s mansion.
“The thought of that scumbag walking free makes my skin crawl. I have to shut him down tonight!”
She drifted into a side alley behind the estate, killed the engine, and slipped on her mask in one seamless motion.
Checking her newly swapped black combat suit, she muttered:
“No way anyone recognizes me.”
“Ming, what are you doing?”
A quiet voice caught her off guard.
Ming turned to see Lavine standing on a short wall, watching her silently.
Ming offered a sheepish grin. “Uh… going for a ride? Would you buy that?”
Lavine hopped down effortlessly and walked toward her.

Somewhere down the commercial street, Kanami had just finished calming her fans. Now she followed a staff backstage—only to find herself facing a weird trio.
A giant bunny stood alert. Two masked individuals stared her down like secret agents.
“Lavine? Ming?” Kanami asked, puzzled.
“Told you she’d recognize us,” Ming muttered, nudging Lavine with her elbow.
“I’ve undergone rigorous disguise training. There’s no way she saw through mine. This is on you.”
Confirmed.
Still, Kanami didn’t get what was going on. Why was Reiichi working as a mascot… and bringing these two along?
“So let me get this straight… the blackout that ended my fan meeting early? That was you two wrecking a P.U.S. official’s place and trying to erase the evidence?!”
The three exchanged glances—and nodded.
“You what—”
Kanami clenched her tiny fists.
“And you didn’t call me until after it was over?!”
She pounded on Ming’s shoulder in frustration.
“C’mon now, don’t be mad. We saved the best part for you: the grand escape!”
Ming snapped her fingers with a cocky grin.
Moments later, the three mascots “hijacked” Kanami’s promo van and raced out of the neighborhood, which was now swarming from reports of a high-profile burglary.
Upbeat music played over the speakers as they cruised back toward their usual hangout—the “Old Spot” diner.

“Huh? Ming? Lavine? Kanami? You’re all here?”
Eika blinked in surprise.
“You went to Kanami’s concert without me?!”
Ming couldn’t meet her junior’s bright eyes.
“Just out jogging. Total coincidence.”
Reiichi calmly pulled off the head of his heavy mascot suit and stepped into the restaurant.
“Any salad?”
“Of course! Everything’s ready—come in, I’ll make you something!”
Eika tossed the questions aside and bounced toward the kitchen to prepare late-night snacks for her teammates.
Ming stepped in behind her, glanced toward the dining area… and suddenly tried to turn back—only to find the others blocking her exit.

Meredith’s cool voice cut through from inside the diner.
“I’m doomed.”
Ming gulped.
The four of them shuffled into what they silently understood to be the judgment seat.
Meredith was still on the phone.
“It wasn’t us. I’m just helping provide what intel I have. No need to send people over. Repair costs? You must be joking. The blackout was their fault. It’s a donation. The Scissors aren’t criminals, remember?”
She hung up and swept a long, slow glance across the group.
The tension grew thick.
“You all…”
“…did an excellent job.”
Meredith said it flatly, not the least bit angry.
“That target’s been on my black list for a while. So has that P.U.S. lady. Clearing out scum doesn’t need a perfect excuse.”
The four exchanged looks.

A small smirk tugged at Meredith’s lips.
Crisis averted. Time to celebrate.
