1. It's the future! Earth's been abandoned (at least by everyone you see in game).
2. Following string theory, mankind left earth by uploading themselves to a digital space that exists between dimensions. Strinova is a city state established in this space.
3. People in Strinova can still be born, killed, and might(?) still need to do stuff like eat and sleep but largely stop aging at a certain point and only seem to die naturally from a disease called Collapse Syndrome.
4. Collapse Syndrome is thought to be a memory overflow. Causes memory and identity loss, hallucinations, and eventually transformation into some feral entity.
5. P.U.S. are essentially the security wing of Strinova's Government. They technically have a cure for Collapse Syndrome but it's highly controversial. They also have a monopoly on a material known as bablo crystals which seem to have been a critical material for mankind's transfer into Strinova. They might also serve for making a better cure.
6. The Scissors are a rebel faction. They believe Earth might actually still be habitable and that it would be better to return there. Many members of the organization are ex-P.U.S.
7. Urbino is an artist trade alliance that is neutral to the P.U.S./Scissors conflict but looks to trying to obtain bablo crystals for their own research into its potential.
8. Some people in Strinova end up with special powers that always include the ability to flatten themselves out like paper. They are known as Superstrings.
9. You are a character known as the Navigator. You aren't a superstring but you are an expert in handling human consciousness and treating collapse syndrome.

• First one that I'm noticed is the mural, it's showing soldiers pointing their spears to the crystal. Telling us that the Crystalline Faction exist before the mural created, and telling us what's being sealed in the ruins.
• Then next is this dot and lines under a compass and navigator, could it be a morse code, and could it be the result is a coordinate?
• "Find the key to brighter future, reset data", could this mean that the first strinovian regret opening this cave and awaken the native species, harming their future in strinova?
• "Do not go back to the caves! Do not respondto native species!" Guess we can say that this cave is the home of crystalline faction

The way I see it and based on my understanding, it’s something that’s up to interpretation due to the open-endedness of the whole thing about not being able to starve, because it could mean “hunger still exists and you can get away without eating, but it’s still something you should do to avoid your body operating at a decreased rate” or the more colloquial “you don’t need food for sustenance, but people still eat for other reasons such as maintaining sanity/people still have the sensation of hunger, but just aren’t at the risk of starving.”

I would love to know if there’s any other concrete sources for this beyond the “can’t starve” line and the existence of many restaurants all throughout the game.

Though quite troublesome, the truth was that Lawine didn't mind her that much.
