From what I know, Based on conjectures and references of the game

I'm not a physics expert so here we go

They, "Humanity" of the Strinova canon, basically gained the ability to cross dimensions, but there's a catch, Because they gained the ability to change dimensions, becoming "strings"
(Strings in this branch of physics refers to 1 dimension "strings" (yes, Like strings on a violin or guitar) that become the basis of the universe replacing particles like atoms)

And from what I'm getting with the game, Strinovans are basically Information-type lifeforms now, They don't have a physical body but instead they instead they're now pure math equations, the catch is, They don't have that big of a storage space to sustain living too long.

Collapse syndrome is basically when math stops mathing and decides to fuck with other equations by making the other equation's math stop mathing

If I were to nerdify this, Its basically like if the saved data goes into stack overflow, becomes corrupted and becomes a virus that tries to corrupt other data

I've wondered that myself. If the Scissors are only a new threat, what is it's original purpose? I assume it's some kind or WoMD. I'm pretty sure it's called "The Prism," and prisms are used to split light and create spectrums, so it makes me wonder if it's something inter-dimensional in nature or operates on some sort of "spectrum." Maybe that's just my engineering mind getting away from me.
