Least not until there's some other way in.

This is why you should simply suck it up and use the velvet shade specific method of divorce. There's no real downside.

Today, my wife received an invitation without having done anything. She was wearing only a suit and hairstyle, not a single piece of jewelry, just those two slots. She has 2k Elegance, we never did get divorced, she was just standing AFK.
Meanwhile, I haven't received anything. I don't have a sect, I have 12k+ elegance, I've tried various methods of filling the jewelry, there really is something we're missing.
I'm currently at max level, she's not, but the account was created a long time ago, and we've been married for at least two months. It would be nice to get some official comments from the developers or a fix.

This requires a fix from the developers. It's a bug, and there's nothing we can do about it. I'm actively monitoring the situation in various places, and from what I've seen, only people with a total elegance of 2k-4k are receiving mass invitations. I haven't seen a single person with an elegance of 4k or higher receive an invitation. Maybe I just haven't seen them, but in this case, the problem is obvious, and such people are the exception.

Indeed, my husband received an invitation with his hair and clothes already equipped, no jewelry; only those two slots were equipped. His overall elegance level was 2400.
For many, the method of equipping jewelry in all slots doesn't work, and I'm no exception. I tried changing outfits, changing jewelry, leaving all slots equipped, and vice versa—nothing. I'm happy for those who have this working, but this needs to be fixed, because the base requirement of 2000 elegance points should work for everyone, but it only works, to put it mildly, for entry-level accounts. I've been waiting for the Masked Troupe to appear since the release of Velvet Shadow, because it would allow me to join without having to divorce for just 2,000 Elegance Points. If I wanted to join this sect by resetting my marriage progress, I would have gotten divorced long ago. In-game, if you interact with their AI (Windtail), there's even a text message stating that with the release of Masked Troupe, there will be a new way to join the Velvet Shadow (like they did in CN), but so far all I've seen is that high-level accounts aren't receiving invitations, while mid-level accounts and new accounts are receiving invitations immediately and en masse.
So I completely understand your position and will wait for a fix, although I'm already frustrated that the developers are keeping silent.

For the Masked Troupe, your invitation should be in the event "Show of Splendor" under the quests tab. In the bottom left corner you should see an option to claim it. Have you not received the invite after claiming it from the event?

I've been trying to research what's up with the Velvet Shade new invite system since yesterday. I'm playing since release, over 10k elegance score on profile, sectless but happily married to my husband IRL and will not be divorcing (already lvl 5 😭 ), hence need to find the new way. Some people seem to be getting an invite via 2 ways: 1. the elegance score (by equipping all slots or through the boat wardrobe) and 2. through Masqued Troupe invite, where getting MT invite triggers an encounter quest at Heaven's Pier in Qinghe where two desciples (one from MT and one from VS) flirt and you must choose one's side and then you get to join that sect, supposedly. Some people also report being able to trigger a VS invite by starting the MT quest in Fairgrounds (by speaking to the lady on a boat in multiplayer) and when she asks to perform a song or dance you swap ourfits instead and get poached by VS basically. I tried all of the above methods and absolutely nothing works. I do have 5 MT invitations though. Windtail gives no useful information, there's nothing on the internet either.. could we please get some clarity on the exact NEW joining method AND requirements?

I think it's because OP said they created a new account and got slapped with the VS envelope right away on that. Which tracks since the current theory is invites not working for us with older accounts. Dear Admin team, could we please feed this back to the dev team as well? I folded and just took the marriage route. I asked in the world chat and a VS member helped me out with the process and I already got the invite. Kudos to him.

For me this is not an option because I have a partnership with my IRL husband on lvl 5 already. He doesn't play a lot so it's been a lot of work to get there and I am not going to divorce just to get the invite. That's why I've been so actively trying to look for another way, I believe it's the same for many people.

I think you mean the "marry/divorce in quick succession" thing? Because this one just implies that you marry one person, divorce them within a time limit. Or marrying twice, but in the sense one after another, not at the same time. You cannot form more than one partnership at a time without being in VS.

It’s overall elegance thankfully. Cause I saw someone got the invite even though they’re only wearing free outfit and accessories. I dont think u need to buy expensive outfit or gacha, it was fairly easy to reach 2k just from the free outfits u get from doing quests, exploration, sect, partnership, guild, etc

I got 7k elegance and my only expensive outfits are snow cat, the big leaf hat outfit, and flower of youth in the picture i sent. The rest are thanks to free outfits and dyeing multiple times

If its based on what i currently wear, i prob would only have more or less 1k+ elegance

The twisted vows quest is there only if you get floral invitation from velvet shade, the perk is you get to choose between the two sects

If you get masked troupe invitation, you can only join masked troupe. There is also a another way by talking to han yanluo in the multiplayer world of kaifeng

I made an experiment and tried the divorcing route on my alt account and it's not receiving any invite. It's been more than an hour.

my friend who got the invite first, had to progress MSQ ( main story quest) ||past investigating the revelry pavillion after the money pot was stolen, then they could see the Rendevouz Point with Qin Ruolan again.|| and they had also 2k+ elegance points accumulated in the gallery you can access from your appearance page, rather than wearing it.

But the day before I recently joined a guild, I was not in a guild before when I never received an invite.

Nope, still nothing. Also tried bathing in Springwave Pavilion and changing outfits/accessories while there (someone on reddit suggested that) and got my elegance points to over 100 (from food/petting cats). Nothing. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Zero invites.

so i found another way to join Velvet Shade. there is a quest named The Choice of Twisted Vows, located on an island near Heaven's Pier. there should be 2 npcs, one from Velvet Shade, another from Masked Troupe. HOWEVER, i logged in today after 2 days of not playing, just for the game to tell me that i failed the quest and i dont know if there'e another way to trigger the quest again 🥲

I FINALLY GOT MINEEE!! After so many days TT. So imma make it simple. What i did was..
1)stood at the spring Pavillion mode in solo. And just changed my fit to some low level stuff. And filled all slots.
2) what i did different this time was equip a weapon with a skin (i had only one. The maple umbrella so I switched my default spear to the maple umbrella) .
And voilaaa... I got the invite. TT. Seems like the condition was having a weapon skin. So all the best lovelies.

My process was... Leave my sect, do the forced pvp for leaving...

Then I went to the Velvet Shade pavilion, where you do the "Sky?" Dance.
While I was there, I swapped costume and instantly got the invitation.

I think that's the trigger, someone told me that after in the help chat.

i think you only need 1k elegance for that according to CN
can't be too sure about that but i got the invitation on my alt with only 2k elegance

yeah, I saw it being mentioned there supposedly is a cooldown of sorts on receiving the invitations, but who knows.

no idea if there's a cd
but i joined VS using the new method, quit immediately, took the perception forest punishment, then try again, no more invitation
guess i will try again every day to see if there's a cd

actually nvm, i can just rejoin the sect without an invitation, only need to wait for 24hrs

yeah, thats what im also curious if you can just rejoin immediately like other sects. someone said you still need invitation to rejoin, so im not sure. good to know you can rejoin without it!

so guys, i just changed my outfit (to the boat owner's) on a mirage boat and got this invite immediately!!!

You can rejoin any sect, there will be a cool down but you can still join without any invitation.

You need to

1. get divorced immediately
2. get divorced twice a week (after that u marry for the third time and get inv)
3. elegance

Try changing your outfit (earring, hair, etc). As long as you have the right amount of elegance in total you should get an invite.
Also check your bag to see if it's in there.

U go to spring Pavillion. Solo mode. Stay at the teleport. Equip a weapon skin. If u have whale fits reduce them to low (f2p) fits fill the slots. And be sectless and u shld have it.

She still see the NPCs and they have a quest icon next to the name, but how can she join Velvet Shade now?

if picked that, the quest failed, you cant chose again anymore. but you can get invitation again through elegance method with cd, about 1-2 weeks or 15 days

Hi~ so my friends trying to join VS has like over 30k elegance score and left his sect like 19 hours ago completed the severance trial and went skydancing at the pavilion, talked Quin (VS) lady you take a walk with switched his skins everything but no invite yet? The masked troupe vs invite is no longer available and they aren’t able to divorce their current partner. Any advice for this?
