I found it very difficult to build in this game. I hope they add more quality-of-life options to make building easier. I love building in games, but this is one of the least intuitive building systems I've ever seen.

Would those stone blocks work? They can make pretty good stairs and they don't look bad. They are of course not made of wood though.
