My argument is that it's a basic feature that has no justification why it should be that expensive, your justification is that it promotes uniqueness however that justification falls flat on its face on the surface. It's not to make players individually unique.

Uniqueness = Accessible variety so each player can visually be unique with reasonable effort, look at how you can get rosycloud dye powder for something reasonable for a gotcha.

Status of wealth = Only whales are willing to sink that much money into a feature that is considered basic.

This leads to most players running around with black hair thus doing the opposite of uniqueness therefore the uniqueness argument goes out the window.
