You will be losing a lot of potential DPS, but can you, the strict answer is sure. You will be able to clear all content with focusing on one weapon, but nobody will recommend it because you're playing very sub-optimally.

There are weapons though, that are more forgiving in playing in isolation like nameless sword, but most weapons combo off each other.

Yeah, so like what was discussed previously, hybrid builds are ok, they work well enough for you to clear the content, but it will never be able to compete with another person playing an intended combo because the damage you lose is quite significant.

So this consideration is only important if you are competitive and want to maximise your damage. If you just care about having fun and enjoying yourself then hybrids are definitely ok, no problem.

But what's really happening is your gold number for Tier 86 is equivalent to a purple number for Tier 91.

i.e. if 6% crit is golden for Tier 86, it may be purple for Tier 91 because the maximum crit for Tier 91 is higher.

You're not losing anything, you don't have to worry. It's not weakening your gear.

And you then feed your new Tier 91 gear with more Tier 91 gear to push up and improve the number. You can get it back to Legendary but the maximum cap will be slightly lower.

i.e. if, for example, a typical Tier 91 crit line has a maximum of 7%, if you modulated your gear, the maximum may be around 6.7% for you instead. So it'll be slightly weaker.

So you get a lower ceiling, but you don't mess with RNG as much. You pick your poison.
