anything can work in solo pve, but hybrid is bad for group content, not like you can't clear group content with hybrid build but at that point, you are more like leeching off other player unfortunately

Just focus on playing until you hit max level for now. Then think about hopping in to multiplayer tbh.
Everyone tends to move up to the new tier. You might find a group to do lower level content with but most people are at cap rn.

rather than reverting your solo level or doing lower-level content

Your quest for that campaign if you open in journal has flags as items listed, where each indicates if it is collected or not and its description gives you a hint where to look for them, you need to collect all of them before returning back. You can search guides for the list of places where they are, as there is no tracking (at least it was not for me and many other players)
Then when you return the quest will progress automatically
