Dead eyes are design issue, not quantity issue. There are games with plenty of NPC with copy-paste faces that don't have dead eyes
It's the design. They aren't doing well on that department and just focus on the important NPCs such as the ones involved in main story quests
Probably best asking in #🌱beginner-questions no? This is lore chat.
Would someone be kind enough and help me like bullet map what tian ying did/stories surrounding tian ying. I wanted to summarize about him.
Tian ying story is pinned in this channel
Omg yay! Thank you
It's a pinned reddit post, you have to scroll down a little bit
awesome
After the events in qinghe, i will try my best
I will save everyooone
it will not happen again

Nine mortal ways
Did you just finish qinghe

i finished everything
Hmm
hi

I think yes
Yes.

Low-key surprised though...gave it to us at first then snatched 🤣

hi
Eugh
Go for dark surge for extra story
and be confused x2´=
I spent my coins recklessly
and now am broke. Didn't i beat god of avarice? Then i should own his base and his riches
That's song's treasury bro
I mean there were a lot of chests in the Furnace to loot lol
even mc's stash/corridor beneath blissful retreat should be enough to cover everything
young master is absolutely loaded back home why did she only bring a jar of wine 😭
Try spamming the joint event
After that buy all the coin in weekly shop
I've read from a wandering tale that NMW sometimes collaborates with Unbound Cavern to help beggars
But all I've seen from Unbound Cavern are scum. Straight up evil
Does NMW also conduct human trafficking? They're just as shady ngl
It's like Grove Street vs Ballas. Both just have nasty vibes in them
What? They have never collaborated with unbound cavern
the letter from the wandering tale about the constable suspecting nmw making children beg in the streets
it said "together with unbound cavern, we have pooled some money" iirc
You might have been mistaken, nmw and unbound cavern are mortal enemies
Hexi lore?
Lol highly translation mistake, unbound cavern kidnap people to turn them into food/slaves
9mw rescue them
makes sense
Who is this that we transform to?
nameless general
Is that a different form or something? Why does he look different
Nameless general 2nd form
it's anxi general guo xin
Omg, is this why people vote that those 2 factions are on friendly terms
Guys when will we get the big zhao emperor revealing quest
And also when will we unlock the imperial palace. Like the palace where there are guards and we can't go inside
well we already got "the reveal" after the Furnace
Imperial Palace is sometime this year, it just got released in CN and it's a separate map the size of the whole Kaifeng City again
Is there anywhere I can read all the lore?

smh there's a spoiler channel for CN stuff
This would be so useful
I hope there's one.
A heavenly general

heylo

alooeeaaa
Near in soul, far in distance, ends of the earth, inches apart
drop da lore pls
Xue Chou, but very much in empress dowager style
To recollect the past ie. Splendor and fall of Tang dynasty etc..
How old is your character in the lore after Qinghe?
I know we start off as 16 but do we have some One Piece time skip where it’s only a few months or something.
16-17, at the time age wasn't clocked by your birth date but the New Year
so if the New Year events are canon we're 17
i need help
“End of the earth inches apart.. ends of the earth inches apart ends of the earth inches apart!!!” -that one wayfarer in heavens pier
Hello
cant move to phase 2 of new boss, anyone else have the same?
which one ?
grand protector
Where do u unlock that boss, is it after msq or a campaign quest?
I just walked there lmao
needs to complete all main quest I think
Is hexi just flashbacks?
yep, everything happened in hexi is in the past
I can not even log into the game since the update

loads into a black screen the times out.
Hello, where to find the lost chapter ten through the pass?
Screen was so fast but I wanted to see if people have it here, It flash too fast but it showed the Dali coin next to the cotton.
I think it's not available now, it should be in April
Never mind i found it
Quite interesting. So the old Tang Dynasty army remants minted their own coins?

awesome
In real life the Protectorate General to Pacify the West and the capital Chang An is 3000km apart, which is an unreasonable distance in year 781
Just like the romans, regional mints where opened as the empire expanded
No u
hé xī
Changan is tang capital city?
Huksi
how did we end up in Hexi 😭 ?
👋
You forgot? We got drugged by the Mahjong lady
drugged and sent back to the past
Huh shee (like when someone calls you and you go “huh?”)
Ching huh
Is the closest I can think of
Hey guys is the new chapter 3 story complete??
huh see
sorry guys as I understand from the begining ||we are in the dream world||?
Now we are in hogwarts
Chang an is capital of tang before?
yes
So uh, why did they make that boader fort there and not like somewhere more mangable?
Her-see
Feels like they just basically sent like 15 different armies there to widdle away and die.
It locate in hexi?
because the territory they owned was literally a corridor
Desert to the north and mountains to the south
no, the current hexi map is 1500km away from Changan
Why we become old man in main quest?
yeah this is how I was pronouncing it in my head before
Thx yall

Guys 😦
Acid trip
Hows the expansion so far?
Guys where do I start the quest ten through the past so that I can later head to liangzhou
??
Or is it in April
Let me give you a little spoiler: Have you seen Inception? "Hexi" is a dream, and the master of this dream is the "Painter". This painting is a super scroll with a chronological order, and what you experience are the stories depicted by the Painter. You, the protagonist, as an "intruder" in this dream, are watching an interactive movie. And your own story is hidden within this scroll. When Hexi reaches its final chapter, all the secrets will come to light.
April
yo why does it say in the rewards for the first quest you get 4 draws and after finishing it I get nothing
"little spoiler"
That sounds fascinating. Looking forward to discovering it all
this is all just an acid trip
how many years did the lady send us back in time
"Depends"
depends on what part of the hexi story we're talking about
but in the letter weve read from the old man says dali kingdom
i haven't seen that one
isnt the ten kingdom period also just after tang
yes, 5/10 is post tang, pre song
im really confused about time period
907 – 979 10 kingdom period 937 – 1253 dali kingdom period so at best we like 50 years back i guess
Is it me or is where winds meet a big beautiful boring game..? The exploring is kinda bland and all the cool stuff you have to pay for..other than boss fights, what fun are you really having..?
it's the Dali era not kingdom, eras began and ended with the rule of each emperor, the Dali era is the reign of Emperor Daizong in Tang 766-779
Dali, Zhenyuan, and Yuanhe eras are about 20 years apart each
in 763 the Tibetans took Chang'an briefly and by 764 they held the Hexi Corridor which is when Anxi became cut off
hmm
i love the mini games. I love the exploration. I like reading the lore of the characters and doing the jianghu legacy though i struggle a bit cause of the translation. My favorite mini game in first region was fishing, in case of 2nd region it's mediao cards. I enjoy the trading system to earn commerce coin. I like grinding outfits in different sects. I like the building system though I am bad at it. I like the trial system that let's me refight bosses.
The game has incredible detail in its npc and its dialogue which are kinda missed by people as they don't revisit or talk to many npc.
For example, can't remember the name. But in eastern Kaifeng area, in one location, there are doctors on the north side who basically treat patients all day and then at night they study for exam. But on the southern side of the same location, we got like an inn which is managed by a velvet shade member who is very popular there. She also owns a place behind the inn where there is a place for taking care of horses of travellers. And the interesting thing is it's actually a place of spying meant as a connection sent and receives info.
So the game has a lot of cool stuff if you care about it. And not just speedrun it and then ask others online what's the fun.
awesome
I personally enjoy the pve side and gvg, boss fights arent the only thing in the game
This game is impossible to speed run through..and all that dialogue talking to a 100 npc's get very repetitive and boring..the mini games are ok at best..but what's the point of having good combat if im going to be playing the mini games for an hour or so..which also gets boring..and be honest the exploration doesn't really lead to anything intriguing or new..Its the same type discovery from the first 2 regions..I uploaded the game after about 2 months to start the new hexi area and immediately got bored with all the stop and go micro transactions between npc's and loot pickups from the rodent kills which gives you the same items over and over jade coins..but if you want really cool stuff you have to pay real money..im so glad crimson desert is dropping in 13 days..I'll delete this game forever then..
bro joined the discord just to whine in lore channel about how he hates lore
I just finished the burlap story part. Are they seriously not gonna let us play as our own character interacting with other NPCs like in the other regions? Or does it get better
I hope the main story doesn’t end soon after the burlap part
Guys i wanna ask some tiny stuff about the royalty in the game 😭
So song dynasty took over after tang went off, from the story it seems they went off tragically(?)
Did the song take them out? If yeah then is tang in wrong or song?
Ppl seems to like Tang (like the soldiers we see on flashbacks and such, or using tang coins) but not complain about song (?)
And if ||big zhao was the emperor|| why was he on our side about using tang coins and against govt soldiers?
Tang dynasty fell a while before Song, it's a period of time called Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms where China splintered into tons of warlords and minor kingdoms after Tang fell
the five dynasties are the ones that ruled the Central Plains: all labeled 'Later' dynasties, Liang Tang Jin Han and Zhou, Song overthrew the last of them and then started reconquering the rest of China
so for perspective Tang fell in 907, and by 962 when the game starts, there have been seven different dynasties and a foreign invasion in the past 60 years
I mean it seems like you only care about combat. Which isn't wrong. But it's a massive game with so much stuff. Like if you enjoy the game, you should engage with more things. Like I am not master at pvp. But I engaged with pvp to reach mythic, I tuned my own gear set for pvp, i got seperate build for pve, arena, hero's realm. When I was in nine mortal ways, i engaged with trading to earn commerce coin and now i am in silver needle, now I engage with healing people in world chat.
And in the last 3 months, I have spent like 30$. I bought outfits like scorpion heart and serpent's spine which I find a lot cool, I am also near pity on the premium draw to get a free core which I am gonna exchange for strat sword vfx.
And here is the thing. I also bought Crimson Desert. It's not a competition. People can play both. And seeing some of the recent reviews of people getting to play crimson desert, it seems like breath of the wild with impressive level of combat. So I don't see how that's a massive different experience to what you expect.
anyone know where to go from here i am stuck in this cave
has anyone beat Guo Xin? what does his army say at the end? it was hard af I can't remember the exact words
no idea where that is
where is this guys

Foreign invasion were khitans?
yeah, the Later Jin were Khitan puppets who sold them Yanyun, and when the second emperor tried to push back the Khitans just invaded since they now controlled all the defenses
that emperor is actually still alive in 962, the Khitans just dragged him back north with them
Liangzhou area isn't unlocked yet. It comes out in April
Just keep going forward until there’s a cutscene
April, liangzhou will be released
Who is Guo Xin and why do we fight him?
Whitecrown fortress boundary stone
Do lost chapter and fight him
Its a fairly easy boss 💔
Only his 2nd phase did smth good but he gets slimed in 3 seconds on the 1st phase
he was the last general in charge of the Anxi Protectorate after they were cut off completely from the Tang, thought to have held out over 40 years after Hexi was taken before Anxi finally fell
i just fought him and finished reading the end part, this hits so deep. My respect to general Guo Xin and all the Anxi armi😢
Anxi if im not wrong, the soldier formed by surrendered general losed to tang right?
These man eating vultures are they demons tamed by Khitan's?
Also just like how Mongols had the blue birthmark thing is the game saying all Hans/Tang people have whitehair?
A test on character as big zhao apparently knew uncle jiang from ym's moves. He also didnt advocate on against government, he is just helping him to escape
nothing to do with Khitans, they're north of China and weren't a threat at all to the Tang Empire, it was only after Tang collapsed completely that the Khitan united and formed their own dynasty
+1, in fact the name Liao dynasty was offered by han chinese official.
Can someone explain why Han are hated? I just got to the part where Big Cao said Burlap Sack couldn't stay with them (I paused it immediately after that so I could do research so idk what happens after that). I feel like I'm missing crucial history 🤔
They dont hate han chinese. They mistook him as Tang soldier
But Big Cao specifically said it's bc he's Han
A Tang soldier or commoner is also han chinese. But they fear his role as a soldier more than the ethnic identity
Han = ethnic Chinese, Anxi was essentially a Chinese colony cut off from China, so being obviously Chinese and wearing a soldier's shoes made him a target for those with a grudge against the Tang
Ahhh ok. I'll make sure to watch many history videos lol
how does some post pictures here?
Burlap sack accent is a giveaway as a han chinese, if they were to hate his ethnic identity , they would not have allowed him to join in the first place. It was only when the bandit suspect and pointed out he could be a Tang soldier.
have to post for a while to get permissions
the scene skip text makes it clearer ironically
Its easier to refer him as han chinese rather than explicitly refer him as a tang soldier which is very sensitive at that point
Xiaolian the kid who gives him water is also Han but young enough he's clearly not a soldier
Can someone explain hexi?
basically we gambled with a ghost and are now reliving the downfall of the Tang Empire through the eyes of ordinary people who were left in the cold as Tang fell back from its frontiers
So hexi isnt real?
Like just an illusion or did we time travel
little bit of both? like we aren't changing the past but ghosts are very demonstrably real so you can think of it as their afterlife
I would say its a memory
But we werent even alive back then
Not our memory
how bad do you want to avoid spoilers? cause someone in here actually made a good little writeup of it without spoiling too many details
I just wanna know what hexi is and howd we go there
ghosts is the main answer, just like Dreamscape
||it's basically a dream of the content of a painting in a chronological order||
And the dreams more realistic bcuz of that lady right
or Twelve Years of Feuds, or hell Ye Wanshan's boss fight
Remember the paint scroll, paintings are always known for vessel for keeping or hiding intangible things inside, very common in chinese folklore
Ye Wanshans from tang?
nah but that fight is us going back to the massacre he committed
Wait guys if tangs the previous dynasty why isnt therr a desert in song? Roaring sands is to small to be hexi
Ye is actually a later Zhou general, forsaken by Chai Rong, 2nd emperor of later zhou before big zhao established Song dynasty
Tang ruled all of China, and China is really big; Song at present time only controls the Central Plains which is a tiny portion of that
After Tang, there is Later Liang > Later Jin > Later Han > Later Zhou > Song
So hexi is just part of what tang controlled?
this (Later Zhou) is roughly what Song controls, and Hexi is way off the western edge of the map, over a thousand miles from Kaifeng
different regions, the desert we visited is yumen pass, which is in the middle of the gobi desert
But wasnt multiple dynastys created after the fall of tang and they are all dynastys in the same time
the five dynasties after Tang only controlled the Central Plains while the rest broke up into many smaller kingdoms
Song will go on to reconquer those kingdoms one by one and reunify China
Does song only control kaifeng or does it control qinghe also
controls both
These dynasties are collectively known as 5 Dynasties 10 Kingdoms along with Later Shu, Northern Han, Southern Han, Wuyue, Southern Tang. If u want to count Dali or Xixia. Only the central plains government is changing mainly.
So southern tang is a whole new dynasty after tang split?
yeah, Tang was usurped by Later Liang, the guy who conquered Later Liang called his own dynasty Tang (Later Tang) and after that one fell a third guy started calling HIS dynasty Tang (Southern Tang, formerly Wu)
They are an extension, but not the original Tang dynasty.
IRL Southern Tang had no actual relation to the original Tang emperors but in-game it's a big maybe
Where is black water city?
Ancient chinese are known to borrow dynasty name from the past to advocate a cause or show legitimacy to rally people and troops even this legitimacy is illegitimate
Why does general guo xin keeps kicking me out evem after i beat him
you have to collect all the Anxi banners from around the desert
both qinghe and kaifeng is central china controlled by song, the size of song dynasty during the start of the game is the combined size of modern france germany and spain
Why there khitans ppl in kaifeng city?
And btw what with all wells in hexi, is this thing connect to quest or what, find so much note inside and there spear above the well
Trade is livelihood, between 2 kingdoms, usually opening trade route is a key else there will be wars. So khitans envoys and merchants in kf is normal sight.
i might have missed it, did we get the name of the Burlap Sack guy?
his name is Liu Sanyang

He was a fairy (poor soldiers tho rip)
😭 lmao why u floating like that
Is everyone on this hexi area just hallucinations?
He was lonely so I gave him company
No
Theyre from the past
Example of hallucinations is those npcs in dreamscape blissful retreat that u cant interact with
What with red tassel?
I low-key wanted a companion ngl
Like ruby/little fu/yingying/big zhao/yidao
It's getting lonely in the dessert
Hello I wanna know whats the significance of cotton in china? Also who are these displaced people looking for Tang?
basically Anxi is a Tang colony that's been cut off from China as the empire goes into decline, the Hexi Corridor is cut off by the Tibetan empire and they have to cross occupied territory just to get messages back; Anxi region is also where cotton was grown so with trade cut off getting the seeds back to China was the only way to continue growing it
historical context wise with wwm this is around the time when cotton was introduced to China and began to spread as a material for everyday clothing, think this plays a part of the story
oohhh interesting thankss
the soldiers that raided blackwater station who were they?
Tibetans, bodchenpo meaning Great Tibet
oooohhh he it just mentioned bodchenpo and idk what faction it was
but this was in the past right before the song dynasty came into power?
yeah nearly 200 years before
763 Tibet invades Tang and sacks Chang'an, cutting off the Hexi Corridor
Anxi protectorate holds out for over 40 years until around 808
What the reason for invasion?
Is protectorate like their soldiers?
Totally unrelated but I want to clarify something. How did Tang end up separated from north to south? They gave the 16 perfectures to khitan right? I thought they remained allies with the khitan so the whole tang is still ruled by 1 person.
Sorry for all the questions.
Tang was badly weakened by a civil war (An Lushan's Rebellion) and Tibet just saw their chance
Anxi Protectorate is sort of like a colony, main thing is the entire region is the start of the Silk Road on the Chinese side, all their trade with the west would go through Hexi
so they had to occupy and garrison it
Oh very valid from a war standpoint
the 16 prefectures thing only happened once Tang had fallen and broken up, the third of the Five Dynasties, Later Jin, gave that territory to the Khitan in exchange for supporting their overthrow of Later Tang
Oh gotchaa Anxi Protectorate is name of the colony itself.
Ooohhhh the famous Tang- Five dynasties. Thanks so much! I think I still have some questions but I know what to research now
What's with that crying that yarub plant

I feel like I'm plucking a plant from harry potter

How do i do trn trhough thr pass
why that pop up showing, and where is the mission?
Such an interesting read, thank you
April it is
We have to wait
You know, apart me thinks its kinda stupid that they didn;t make good proper route to Hexi or even establish it in first place. Kinda felt like big waste of resouces and manpower.
Guys is hexi a dream world or a real place??? Why are there floating things
dream
Hey guys, idk if this is the right chat but I am on 3/4 of the Meow Meow Challenges in Bamboo Abode. Been to all the locations that multiple maps have said but can not for the life of me find the last one. Any ideas?
#WEHOLD
In lore what is hexi zone the character is dead or something?
just watcha yt video
Is the new update working fine? without any stuttering or frame drops?
I mean yeah the Hexi is set in late Tang. They'd have to be dead by now
We don't even go to Hexi, we just have an acid trip about it
Is Burlap Sack based on a real story?
i still have so many questions because the story was hard to understand
why were his comrades trying to make him deliver cotton seeds to what seemed like their hometown and where did they get the seeds?
Hey guys
Was well of heaven fpunded in hexi?
Anc where was midnight blades founded?
well of heaven is going to be in the snow region which is next month
So it was founded in hexi?
Wait which day is the snow region coming out?
no cotton in China, winters are cold, kills people.
Hexi is on the silkroad to the west, they got seeds from trade with foreigners
It was explained at the end after burlap sack quest is finished
Cotton was rare in mainland so the seeds had to be delivered because the war cut off the supply of cotton
Is the performance on ps5 fixed?
You can find the answer from WWM girl youtube channel. Apparently at that time cotton was rare in China. But once they successfully planted cotton, China become a rich nation at that time.

guys the different hairstyles that you can choose on the character customization screen have lore
Hello can help me im downloaded game on ps5 and after open game no login game and repair client and this massage: [nil] account login feild check network and restart game
And game update to last version
And delete game 2 times and no way
Lets goooo we got drugged before gtavi
Whats the significance of dali coins in the story?
the Dali era ended after 14 years with that emperor's death, Anxi had no way of hearing about that death so they minted coins with "15th year of Dali"
Ooohhhhh thats so interesting.
not the first won't be the last
getting drugged is par for course in wuxia
Hello! Is there any lore or explanation about the flying bird men things in Hexi? (Utuk raptor) their humanoid appearance just looks way too strange to be normal for a bird and none of the npcs seem to say anything about it lol
Ohhh, so the young master was just imagining it.. Like those cups with bird legs lol
So young master just seem to be attacking normal birds in that howling sand outpost, idk but thats a very funny image imo
Melon isn't even doing that probably she just sleeping and dreaming while staring at the mural
nah they're evil spirits
everybody so eager to go "we must be crazy/dreaming" like no it's a fantasy game
Okay Uncle Jiang, Aunt Han, you need to get home!! Your melon is seeing crazy stuff!! Lol
Afaik WWM is set in Ancient China so those bird and bone monsters are definitely not real (Though imagine if they are...), but the outpost and its pre-clear description and ||also the Anxi flag you can get there|| just made me raise an eyebrow about the utuk raptors
it's fantasy ancient China
the first scene of the game is Uncle Jiang running from cannon-wielding monkeys and fighting a giant and then having a vision of the future
I like the schizo Melon better
True true, i mean no way in real life is there a person who could use lightness skills lol or train monkeys to use cannons. Love this game for blending what is real and what is fantasy
it's actually really neat if you go back and look at Uncle Jiang's vision frame by frame
he sees Aunt Han, Ruby, and Yi Dao
I approve this too 👍
Guys, have you seen some of the signposts saying that this new region Is so boring?
And other people calling burlap a loser...
That freaking destroyed me bro...people called all of this boring as hell
they only want hype moments and aura
concern not with yourself with the oinions of others, as long as you enjoyed it
also internation player opinions literally don't matter
all the content is already made and set in stone
they are not exactly fake, but they are influenced by an IRL thing
Hexi is a dream but also a memory -- so there are fantastical/metaphysical components that are more fantasy (like the giant ark)
but the mobs in the game are alluding to other things
The mobs of the new region are tough, and its full of those skeletal things, they genuily creep me out
for example, the bird monsters are alluding to ||tibetan invaders|| hence why you see them in human-like locations (i.e. occupying forts etc)
And also they have armor
yes, they are clothed/have armour
the skeleton flowers are less discussed, but I think they represent fear, or essentially are wherever someone has succumbed to their fear
Makes sense, but the flowers on the ground are worse
hence why we see them underground (cuz we know invaders def did not go down there and find the diggers)
yeah theyre annoying
i try to shoot them before they disappear
if i accidentally set one off
Oh you can shoot them?didnt know that
Probably a lot of people already noticed that chapter of Hexi are fully of non-human bosses.
I am gonna explain a little bit why there are this kind of shift
yeah you can shoot them with bow and they disappear and drop the flower material
If i can give my opinion, there Is not a single pyramid in a desert like that,yea..im fixated with egyptian mytology, but yea this Is china nit egypt
thats cool,farm time
STILL,WHERE THE HELL IS AUNT HAN,what place she living in,Is she Harley sawyer's daughter or something😭
||the chapter of Hexi took place from AD 830 in West China, at that China already lost control of this area due to a major coup name the chaos of Anshi.||
Epstein files ahhh message
||So this region were occupied by Eastern Turks “东突厥”(Ancestors of Chinese Uyghurs) and Bod Chen Bo “吐蕃”(Ancestor of Tibetan). Because both Uyghurs and Tibetan still exist as an ethical group in China, the government prohibited any kind of writing regarding history of fighting between Chinese and these two ethical groups. So the game developers have to work around this prohibition.||
yup hahhaa i didnt want to mention the government restrictions cuz that introduces a whole other can of worms
but yes
||In other words, the Chinese government doesn’t want to remind anyone that Uyghurs and Tibetans used to have strong army and they were quite a threat to Chinese dynasties. They think that’s bad for today’s unification between different ethical groups in China.||
If ||Li zuo is the last emperor of tang is he currently alive or undead?||
In the story's timeline
I think he was alive when our character was born?
||not sure if undead/immortal but he's 70 years old so definitely got something keeping grandpa pretty||
his dad was assassinated when he was 11, he was a puppet for a few years until the general who did it was ready to usurp fully, then sent into exile where a year later he was poisoned (IRL)
here he escaped his exile with his lover taking his place as a body double
The general Zhu Wen is also a douche bag, he enjoying sleeping with his daughters in law.
What with this cotton deal with ym main story?
Its like the cotton and cloth only very little aspect of the world building here
And whos tang war against at this time?
||East Turks and Tibetans.||
That’s the first time cotton were introduced into China. Which was a big deal because it gave Chinese people the materials for winter cloths. Earth was in a climate known as little ice age at that time.
Before this introduction of cotton, the Chinese empire weren’t able to travel that far to the west.
Where burlab sack friend got this cotton from?
From Protectorate General to Pacify the West
At that time Chinese armys provide gurdianship to the trade route.
And i still not connected what with this deal with ym main story and aunt han and qianye story
It has nothing to do with the ym main story
The entire Hexi chapter is mostly a spinoff
300 years prior to our storyline.
Like an optional DLC.
What is this?
Im not English speaker either, so i dont understand the meanings of this
So you know the Silk Road correct?
The trade route between China and Middle East
There are raiders on the Silk Road, they attack merchants and rob their goods.
They called it silk road bc they trade silk?
Yes
That’s one of the main trading good.
Protectorate General to Pacify the West is the official military unit of Chinese government that provides protection to all the merchants on the trade route.
They occasionally organize state sponsor business trips to send specific important good back to China
Mostly about goods can turn the table in China
Burlab Sack’s friend is one of solder under Protectorate General to Pacify the West
He is a crew captain
And Cotton seed is the important good.
Cotton from middle east right.
Why they didnt sell it before, why now?
And burlack sack friend ask him to bring it to changan, bc they know about how useful cotton are or they just need it to arrive changan bc it their job?
Because the Arabs wasn’t allowed cotton seed to be traded to China. They were trying to maintain leverage in trade on China and the Persian empire were super strong, the Chinese army weren’t able to defeat them for a long time.
The Arabs didn’t sell the cotton seed, the Chinese army won a battle against them and were accidentally found the cotton seed in spoils of war.
I am feeling like Burlab’s friend have a mix feeling on that because think about you cracked the trade leverage that the enemy empire on you for hundreds of years, it’s your job and your spirit motivates you to get that stuff back to Chang An
I believe why dev put so much effort to this cotton thing as main story, so we player can appreciate the cloth more and bought their skins more 🤣
That makes a lot of sense
I am feeling like it’s just bad storytelling.
It’s super awkward to even see Hexi in this gam.
Because the Song Dynasty have pretty much lost all control of this region.
They didn’t reclaim it until Ming Dynasty(two dynasty after YM main story line)
Like a game talking about Napoleon have an entire chapter about Louis 14th.
Or a game about Queen Elizebeth the First have an entire chapter of King Arthur and Knights of Round Table.
Guys can anyone please explain to me why the jade pendant that someone steals from us is important?
we don't know yet, but the name used in the intro "Zhenguan Jade" implies it's from the very start of the Tang dynasty
Is this hexi happen in years of jiadushi take over tang court?
yeah after the rebellion and invasion that cut off Hexi, the jiedushi got more and more power and privileges and cared less about the central government
jiedushi has being around for over hundred years now
it’s a magical tool with magical power
What this anxi army?
The group of people tried to reconnect Hexi with the Tang Dynasty.
Idk but maybe because it is a significant part of china's history?
Yes, but no. Because this is 300 years prior to our storyline.
Honestly I really appreciated we're in Hexi. Because I spent hourse yesterday researching history what these things meant. And learned a whole lot of ancient china history. Haha
I know that. But we also just started Hexi. Maybe it will all make sense later.
Nah, I know the ending.
Good for you? Lol.
Is hexi part of yanyun, bc chu die in black water when infiltrate yanyun, black water is in hexi
A big NO
Yanyun is in the Northeast of China
Hexi is in the Northwest of China
But chu die in black water city
Same name.
?
黑河 and 黑水城 can both Translate to black water
so it might be lazy translation
I am feeling like someone gave the developing team a political mission.
No. I also thought of that too but they're two different strategic locations in different times. I believe it was just bad translation. Burlap arrived at Blackwater Station which seems like a garisson. Chu died at Blackwater City, which is a City.
Blackwater City is not in Hexi.
||because chapter Hexi is about a group of people tried to reunite lost land with the motherland.||
It’s kinda suspicious
Burlap say he Want to black water city in early quest before, but the caravan not agree
Yeah different place. Not the same.
The reason why I feel awkward for this chapter is because the soldiers weren’t even wearing the correct armor. Because they are all wearing armors that appears 300 years later.
I am pretty sure the developing team reused a lot of gears and models to make this chapter.
This is the correct Tang Armor sets
Bruuuh
This is badahh.
Wondering who stop the all mighty Persian army to the east?
That dude supposed to be one of them
All I can think of is that Hexi maybe represented the start of a long historical chain of events that lead to the problems main story is facing. Like it lost the frontier regions, leading to fragmentation, and the many problems Song faced after. Idk
I already know the ending, so I am not gonna post anything spoiler.
But Hexi is kinda lazy in my opinion.
Another cn player said chapter 3 would tie everything together and it was one of the best main story of the game, people rated it very highly
I have received the total opposite ratingfrom a different player about this
And because the chapter of Hexi stretched way too long, it actually caused the CN server has the biggest active player number drops.
And they didn’t recover from that until the chapter of Bujianshan was up.
Oh yeah he did say cn players waited too long for hexi to complete
Global might have a better experience ig
How to enter hexi after beating the boss at the white fortress
Wait next month for new update
We are going to the Liangzhou City
And the funny part is Liangzhou(凉州) literally means “Chilly State” in Chinese
It acts as historical context but totally complicates the story imo
Anxi is independent army?
Separated from the main line
For 40 years
That might be a spoiler huh, even though you can already see it in game

About to finish my daily task of kick your a$s
Miss me?
Tang army, cut off communications and support due to An Lushan (1 of the miliary govenor) rebellion
The encounter quests have been so nice
So is the wandering tales 😀

This is not spoiler. We can understand the story better because of it thenku
that's not just any lady T^T that's ||bo chuyu||
Lorewise speaking, how are we able to see Burlap Sack's story? or are we actually not and the game is just telling us really cool story
So for the story of Hexi, we went back in time right? And so is this during right after the fall of Tang Dynasty or like a few years after Tang fall? Cuz i thing there should be like a 60 year gap between until present time?
Before the fall of tang
When the empire was in its decline
Anyone knows where to give this quest item? "Bloodstained Armor"?
With the scroll of the carp swimming in i
I’m confused what was Burlap sacks goal?
Bring the cotton seed back to Chang'an, so ppl can start making affordable cotton-based clothes
Wait, was that the seed that Burlap Sack put on his eyes?
yea, since there's a saying "vultures eat the eyes first" he put the seeds over his eyes, so that the vulture would eat them along with his eyes and hopefully spread it
Damn, that's kinda sad to hear
But hey, at least Burlap Sack fulfilled his mission (RIP, old man 🫡)
the stories in this game are so depressing, man.. doing Wellspring of Hope rn after Burlap's.
wasnt a good idea
I heard the old man is a real person from history is that true?
Although I liked Burlap Sack's questline, I think the water quest was the one that I enjoyed more because of the narrative
Initially he dont know the content of the sack, his original goal was to fulfill a fellow comrade mission, after knowing. It strengthen his faith
Old man’s questline was touching but is was lowkey boring with it just being walk in sand talk walk in sand talk
Really goes to show how much of ride or die he was just to deliver that sack
Got attacked, no water, got attacked, no water
Haven’t done water yet 😬
It's like a mix feeling for that questline, TBH
But the one thing I actually liked about that quest is because of the actual history they give you at the end
So that we could have cotton on today
I like that they give us actual history in the end about these specific things
Like, I didn't even know that the origin of the paper money was from China lol
i like the quest due to its "boring-ness" it shows much and more clearly how ordinary and painful he is; just an ordinary man with no power, no martial skills, no lightness skill. He has to walk and walk solely on his willpower. It truly touching sob. I prayed so hard to hope someone comes and saves him when he cried the moment he didnt able to find his sack after the sandstorm
So they can make skins and player will buy it
is the region not released yet?
have u found the jar at Bamboo Forest/Retreat? it should start an intro quest to unlock Hexi
i mean, im already in Hexi, but how do i get to Liangzhou?
what happens when you dont rescue xiaolin?
oh mb, no its not out yet. Its the next area
Hmmmm good question 🤔
How can we get the prismatic essence guys?
Can someone explain the whole hexy main quest so far I am so goddamn lost. And like if the devs were smoking or something while making it
The old man will die at the end ( spoiler)
and what exactly is the poiunt of having the old man, aside from the free af talent points
Imo burlap for me represents the different people living during those times when Anxi was cut off from the rest of China. Soldiers who longed to come home. Civilians who struggle to get into caravans because of bandit raids. Couriers who die in the middle of the desert, their messages never delivered. And he also represents trade I think. That despite all that, cotton still made it to China through trade in the west.
I dunno man, seem lame, cant they just use wifi to video call
burlap questline is boring af
I thought the same too at first until the part with the bandits
"this is gonna go downhill from here on isnt it" is my next thought after that
where is liangzhou?
Based sect leader lmao
Is this hexi era is same years with sun wukong story?
There a monk say he is xuanzang disciple
Don't think so, since the Hexi we are in right now is based off in the Tang Dynasty
And Journey to the West was written in 16th century of China
Someone explain to me where winds meet in 2 words
Gpt got it.
Now for gpt to help me with tax evasion
Journey to the west is written in 16th century but the story was set in Tang dynasty.
However I think it happen before Hexi.
JttW is ~600s
Hexi ingame is ~700s I think?
How do we get i to hidden mountains also is hexi a dream of us on the past?
The Hidden Mountain is the new region I think, and yes, we might be in the past of Hexi
what is the best area lore wise
Monk we found say his horse is gift from his master, xuanzang
I think the monk in Hexi is just a reference to JttW
He called himself ||Wukong||
That monk apparently is a real figure
And the sun wu kong we know is inspired by him
Btw Xuanzang's horse in JttW is actual white dragon prince.
xuanzang does exist irl yeah
jttw is a fictional take on an actual journey the monk did in 600s AD
Alr
Guys does cn have 6 maps??
I heard that in cny a new map was launched
lol
Mhh is Imperial palace already out?
If yes, then they have new zone, of not then not
how to go back from hexi world to first world ?
Good day to yous
Go right and down.
Imperial palace is out in cn server not yet in global
Can't wait to find out who the pretty snake boy is and what his beef with Big Zhao is

What? He objectively pretty and objectively snake boy XD
Does my goat nameless general have deep lore?
sure ig i can see that but why
why add it at all?
i doubt im speaking for all, but i see A LOT of ppl saying the same thing, that its boring af in signposts
lol
He’s the nameless general ofc he has a peak lore

That's because a lot of people have a reading comprehension and general knowledge of 0 XD
or.. that its rly slow n actually is boring ah
It's free game. So lots of kids can play it. Also kids don't have attention span or appreciation of long stories. It's fine just play how u want. If u don't enjoy it go load other game to play
Lets talk about why people simp for the mass murderer with no conscious just cause she looks cute and did ONE right thing after decades of being an evil b#### ^^
long stories are fine when its actually interesting, but we js picking stuff up n walking around so far 🤷♂️
uh what exactly that gotta do with a slow n boring story?
They all have deep lore
This is lore channel. People come here cuz they wanna discuss story they find interesting. It's not complain channel for your lack of interest
suppose so 🤷♂️

Story is neither slow nor boring, people just ignore parts
Every single person we met till now mentioned in World has a deep going lore and entanglements with YM and the world. It's just that people do not read, listen and care
Wow thats censored....a chesty* youtuber
WWM Girl is big enough, just one search away
Ok how do soulslike tell stories? Items. You gotta collect em.
..

....
Why is the player character following in burlap sack's footsteps? What relevance does he have to aunt han or uncle Jiang
We are caught in an illusion realm and can only leave it, when the painting is finished. He is one of the strokes. That alone is enough reason
So, he has nothing to do with them? 🗿 Just part of the mirage
Better question would be why are we so forking stoopid and trust every single person we meet...
I hope he doesn't have much left after the birds😹 this frail weak dude sucks
it has about as much to do with Aunt Han as Kaifeng did, YM just going around asking people "hey do you know anything about my aunt" and getting pulled into adventures
Kaifeng had at LEAST more to do with her, with Shimmer and Zheng E being there XD
well we were promised info on Qianye, we just suck at mahjong (real)
There was a literal direct flashback with aunt han younger, lmfao. This dude is just old and random
yeah at the end of Kaifeng, so wait until the end of Hexi
We were promised info by a girl with a fashion sense of a blind and deaf person, playing mahjong with a paper fox and a camel stares
camels are terrible at mahjong confirmed
AND she vanished when the rooster crowed...
Like... Wow.... I get sheltered, but really?
also if you haven't done The Harmonizer and Voices in the Air hidden quests in Qinghe now is the time
Oh did that I am still deluding myself into that that was Chu ^^
bro fr
shi is mad boring imo
Chu who?
Chu Qingquan, Aunt Han's lost love

Which one was he again or do we not have a face for him yet
Boooo
we saw his face in the Game Awards trailer
not ingame though

The moment I see the bell tower, I knew where the fight is
Like bruh, Aunt Han did not want to deal with him.

who's eastbound monk?
U will know if you finish his encounter
wahaha
Xuanzang pupil

anyone know how to do this?
Hexi lore? What comes after Hexi per cn servers?
12534
i just put a signpost down for it a couple hours ago
after Hexi is Hidden Mountain/Mohist Hill
Why there bear in desert lol
actually real, Gobi bears, almost extinct now
Really, what they eat in desert and with their thick fur how they survive the heat
they mostly eat plants they can dig up and travel huge distances to find water
1-2-4-3-5 counting from the musician, if I remember correctly

❤️❤️
👍
where is Hexi irl?
NW China, over a thousand miles from Kaifeng, between the Gobi Desert and Tibetan Plateau
Oh, now I get why we fight these Utak Raptors
It's because they represent as the Tibetans
Since the Tibetans were the ones who invaded the Hexi region
mind blown
So tang here war against raptor?
the raptors represent the tibetans since tang & tibetans had conflicted for long, they can't be using real human soldiers since it could be sensitive so they took another approach
we do see real soldiers briefly at the end of Burlap Sack's story
They use real human for ughur
but it's kinda funny we can kill Song soldiers all over Kaifeng who... aren't actually our enemies mostly? but for Hexi YM can only fight bird monsters
Yeah I don't understand why we killing song soldier when clear camp, but ym just walk freely in the city
I believe it's because of ethnicity concerns, using real humans can be quite sensitive ig
perks from knowing the emperor (jk
wiping out the Song army as a prank
the writers for this game likes to focus on the stories and plight of the common people a lot, so hexi is generally an extension of that
i am just confused why we teleport that far.....with so many region is empty in between
not teleporting, it's a dream of the past hundreds of years ago, when Tang started to collapse and people had to make the long journey back from the frontiers
the burning city we saw in the intro to Hexi was when the Tang capital burned
oh i see

Any interesting lore about the new flute skill? I was surprised to see a xiao (or what seems like one from my western view) instead of a dizi since I feel like dizi seems more common in the genre
Curse those bod chen po
Both Xiao & dizi are ancient instruments which seems similar but different. Usually a dizi is slimmer, held horizontally and has a special hole (dimo) covered with bamboo membrane. A xiao is held vertically and doesn't have the thin layer (it's also longer and can have more holes), the sound is produced through vibration. With the properties mentioned up there, since dizi produced a bright & crisp sound, it has great "piercing" power and gives an energetic vibe, suitable for a lively festive occasion, while Xiao is deeper and softer, more suitable to express melancholy vibes.
Does anyone know Burlap Sack's real name?
Liu Sanyang
Thanks
so who dies'
👌
me
oh thats not

Does anyone know where to find the Tales of Immortal I? I want to finish the collection 🙁
It's the Gleaming Abyss quest
Look on yt would prolly be faster
Hey y'all i am wondering where this last dark surge is i cannot find it to save my life any help would be greatly appreciated. This is from the 2nd dark surge category. I have Camel's Aid, Golden Peach, Buried in native soil but i am missing the 3rd one anyone know where i can find it
Gou xin and anxi didnt know tang has fallen and changing emperor?
During that period of time the hexi corridor was lost to tubo (Tibetan empire) invasions
And the hexi region lost contact with the empire. Essentially guoxin and his army were defending the last city (guizi city) after all those around them had fallen and they did so for 30+ years without any news from the empire (hence the name white headed city as the young soldiers had all grown old)
It would take a very long time before zhangyichao and his guiyi army would rebel against the invaders and retake the hexi corridor thereby returning it to the tang dynasty (this is a future story we’re getting)
30 years, where the resources come from like food, waepon arrow or new soldier?
they relied on the Karez Well, as long as there's water they can at least grow crops to supply themselves (there's an encouter talking abt the past of the well)
They still had local resources and could trade to an extent just not with the empire
guizi city was also located in an oasis meaning it could be self sufficient on food and was a major supplier of metal and equipment to other cities in the area
But how abput soldier, 30 years for wars they must be lost many man
The city fell around 808AD
Guiyi army rebelled around 851AD
The city had its own population but as I mentioned before a lot of soldiers served until they were old like 60-70s
There are a lot of historical text referencing them as the last tang army or anxi white head army
they also recruited a lot of local tribesmen as well or those that didn’t like the invaders
it's exactly why it's called whitecrown fortress, all (old) soldiers held there since young till their hair turned white (becoming old). Tibetans ruled there until ZhangYiChao, who took advantage of their instability and decline to rebel.
They wars against tibetans and turks?
I mistyped before. it’s the Tibetans
The Turkic were earlier in history but they do invade that region as well
Around the 6th to 7th century
People already on Hexi lore?
Whos place is this?
😭 I’m def taking my time getting there
Where were u?
I’m honestly just in Kaifeng exploring still 😭 there’s so many quests I don’t wanna get overwhelmed
Are u still fledgling?
Omg maybe I am
I don’t know MUCHHH about the game, just exploring
Open event menu then swallow bond, if it say looking swallow then u still fledgling, i need fledgling for that event
Okay next time I log on I’ll def check, I think I am and if so I can be your fledgling (if that’s how it works)
Is there a benefit for doing the event again?
I already have the Archswallow title.
Cz im not done yet before, i cant find fledgling before
Oh goodluck then 😄

wow
ooookkk
?

honk honk!
During the time period we are talking, the Oghuz(we also see them during the main quest) were not problematic and mostly acted as mercenaries. They started migrating much later in history.
Those were Khitan and Oghuz raiders, not Uyghur.
The civilians you see in camps are mostly Uyghur and Iranians, since they also speak in another dialect
Oghuz and ughyur are different?
Oghuz are precursor to modern day Turkmen, Azeri and Turkish nationalities.
Uyghur are also a Turkic people, but are natives of the Tarim Basin area
Uyghur lived in oasis in the Basin, meawhile the Oghuz had mobile tent cities
China has been doing whatever they want without impunity as of late (and we're not happy about it), but they're chickening out on depicting tibetans?
ngl a historical depiction would've been better than this psychedelic trip
What the state does and what an artistic creation renditions are not the same.
The writers most likely did not want their game to have ultra-nationalist and anti-Tibetan narratives and so opted by fantasizing the situation.
Same reason you mostly deal with other Central Plains Han people in Qinghe(bandits and the pavillion) instead of Khitan

but Khitans have been long extinct as a distinct group
In general, Chinese artists/writers, at least decent ones, generally refrain from depicting conflicts that can becomes ethnic spats.
Even if the Khitan as an identity dont exist anymore, they can be made paralel to Khalkas, Chahar or Manchus
Generally, all narratives where "we need to drive x ethnicity away" is very anxious to take upon
It's just the game don't want to talk about irl politics. It's a game. Most of the lore is purely made up, tbh Li Zuo has already died in real history at the time in game, it won't be fun at all if everything is a historical depiction.
Drawing inspiration from history or using real history as a backdrop does not mean depicting it exactly as it was.
I actually don't like the Hexi storyline that much.
This is clearly the transitional period where WWM got critical acclaim for all their heart-felt touching stories and now all the Hexi stories feel really... Manufactured for tears.
The stories at their core are good, with the dark surge talking about the trade routes that sprouted from the tireless efforts of true patriots who worked with locals to create something out of this endless desert... But the execution is screams "we made it commercially let's do it MORE"
I suppose it was also during a time when people were complaining their dark surges are too hidden and people didn't understand wtf was happening so they stories also got a little on the nose...
Can't wait til we get out of this introductory period of hexi and we get to get to the real good part: CLANGCLANGCLANG swords.

The dark surge is not about trade routes. You'll find it out once it's totally unlocked
And yes the dark surge is deeply hidden, which is designed on purpose.
Does anyone know what the old man's relationship is to the uncle?
I know, and I know it gets better later.
I'm talking about the first half of the story that is released so far and the themes connecting the main and dark surge stories present
like... Going to the oasis village to dig the well, the storyline is really just a non-stop trip of "ARE YOU CRYING YET?! NO?! LET ME TRY HARDER!"
Also, not spoiler chat so not gonna talk about the content of the stories obviously
Someone will be touched by the story because they have similar experience irl. So far hexi is heavily based on Chinese culture so yeah the boundary does exist. So it’s totally fine if others think the story is deliberately melodramatic.
Yeah, the whole Burlap Sack bit was tiring me to the extreme
It would have been better to just focus on the Anxi Garrison and making the General finally give up his post, rather than whatever boomer feel-good story it was
The Well digging bit was better since it was really condensed and had a better conclusion for its "sacrifice for the future" deal the expansion has
I get it, they wanted to flex their story-telling muscles and see how much could they push their cinematic and linear storytelling chops
But it was lacking finesse
At the time the Jade Gate Pass was created, wwm didn't have the definite plan to launched global version yet. In other words, it's mainly aiming the CN market and they got very good reviews back then. But I'm sure they've realized this issue in later expansions.
I hope they dont change it to "appeal to global audiences"

Whoops

Want to ask :
Currently I have 60 “Iridescent Flag.” What I want to ask is: can we stack “Iridescent Flag” for several weeks? Because I read in the description that it says “an item for voting in MT, which will be held for up to 2 weeks.”
Meanwhile, I currently have 60 “Iridescent Flag.”
Please answer if anyone knows.
#🌱beginner-questions or #💬martial-pavilion for gameplay questions
Anxi Army, do you hold?!

no i wanna go home
why did Burlap Sack’s dagger suddenly become Tangdao
I guess to show what he used to be in the past?
also is Yumen Pass just the dream part? Is Liangzhou a proper location? or is the entirety of Hexi a dream
But IMO, they were probably lazy to animate him fighting with a dagger lol
the places exists irl, but whatever happened there was part of the past (which we experienced them through the form of a dream)
alright
Yeah
Feathers check
Guo Xin a real dude right
Last time i check he still not do gender surgery yet
Anxi general
General of the tang army who got cut off from mainland during the an lushan rebeliion
what happened then?
They hold
ok man are you gonna keep telling me one-offs or can i get like a genuine answer
i cannot find info on Guo Xin on WP
very barebones info via his title
Didnt you already beat him, that what happen
So beat him first
Yeah just play his campaign first
He isnt a well known general to get his own wiki page in english
Basically, Tang started declining after the AnShi rebellion, so the court sent guoxin to guard anxi, tibetans seized the chance and started conquering hexi corridor, which caused GuoXin & the anxi army guarding the city without any information from the court/outside.
ofc there's more details in the quest, which is why we recommend you to complete them first. A lot of the real characters appearing in hexi are those who had very limited records, wwm wanted their story to be known

i hope a lot of their non state media is like that. because last time i've read they call us (my country people) bad name. ngl i take it with pride. better be wukongs than zhu bajies
ok so i played the quest but i still dont quite understand what happens afterward
i understand that Guo Xin was cut off from the Tang and continued to fight with no information
but does anything ever happen after that? does he just keep fighting until he completely gives out and dies? or does something eventually happen?
No one really knows what happened to him or his where he disappeared to, but the historical scholars believe that he may have died in battle against the Tubo.
Several other guys replaced him as protector general. Anxi held out much longer until it got completely destroyed
Zhang Yichao would retake Hexi many years later and become its jiedushi
Anxi Army hold for 40 years, and then hexi was conquered by Tibet
In real history, in 789 AD, the monk Wu Kong, who had traveled to India to study Buddhism, returned to the Tang Dynasty.
Passing through Kucha, he met the lone garrison of the Anxi Army, and brought their news back to Chang’an.
This was the last time the imperial court ever heard from the Anxi Army.
he is a real monk in history
They held there for around 40 years, they planted their own food, made the Karez Well (you'll learn about it's story in an encounter), made coins (dali year 15 doesn't exist anymore), but the coins are a signal that they're still there, holding on, the soldiers that were once young were already old. By the time the court knew about the news, the support never had the chance to arrive
we have records / proof of their coins irl?
yeah and journey to the west is loosely based on his master Xuanzang. But the main character is named Wukong
What does Dali year mean? Ain't Dali a separate Kingdom?
the coins irl
After you finishing the msq of burlap sack, it will show you the coins is now held in the national museum of China
Oh so Sun Wukong and Wu Kong have actual relationship??
very intriguing
honestly idk 😅
Not very. Just some inspiration.
ah so they use like story of Wu Kong journey to india for buddhism as like inspiration for journey to west, but then put Sun Wukong in place of the monk?
dali is the regnal year in tang, it's used to record years, and will change with the court too
The story of JttW happen in around 600-700 AD. And the monk Wukong irl lives in 800 AD
The novel is written in Ming dynasty, which is after the 13th century
So are we actually the kid in the intro or not?
if you mean the intro of when you boot the game of uncle jiang holding a baby, then yes
Why they called it dali era, not dynasty era happen in that years?
It's a name used to record the years (similar to recording how long had a ruler reigned), like dali spanned from 766-779 (14 years), or a more recent one, xiande ,was used for when Chai Rong reigned (954-960), it's set by the ruler themselves and not the dynasty (since you have multiple rulers within a dynasty)
Like dali what it's stand for, like why they choose that name?
大历(dali), from a literal surface 大(da) means grandness and esteemed, 历(li) means calendar. The real meaning was signifying that the emperor accepting the Mandate of Heaven, and his hope for a nation with peace and stability.
Does the wondering ark have lore? Kinda ran into it unexpectedly
Owww
Reign name of Tang Daizong
Japan has this practice still by the way
Showa > heisei > reiwa eras
Like showa refers to emperor hirohito's reign era etc.
In china emperors could switch multiple reign names during their period (Han Wudi, Wu Zetian had many).
But during the Ming dynasty onwards each emperor would stick to one for their entire reign (except a certain "foreign student" iykyk).
You can watch the video from WWM Girl. She explain it very wellhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu4bUEWXWac&t=3s
So from the Ming onwards emperors are often referred to by their reign eras since it was basically one is to one
Eg. Emperor Kangxi > qing shengzu
Emperor Hongwu > ming taizu
the story we play through is based on a poem by a famous Tang poet, Bai Juyi, about a man fleeing from occupied territory back to Tang but not being recognized as one of them and imprisoned as a spy
In China, each emperor will choose a word to name the era he rules. It's not the same as the whole dynasty.
You can regard it as the dynasty is their family name. And things like 'Da Li' is his own name.
It's knida like the House of Windsor and King Charles III between Tang dynasty and Dali.
It's a way to mark which emperor is ruling now.
the story about burlap sack?
no the Wandering Ark story at the start

Ah yeah, make sense
But japan dont have dynasty
So china more confusing
They don't because the same family has been on the chrysanthemum throne since basically the beginning of japanese written history, and it's different also from china in that the japanese emperor is also the religious leader of shintoism
It's kinda but not really also as chinese emperors could have multiple era names over their reign
The purpose was not quite the same as the era names were used to mark the years and time
And in some formal settings in japan they still do that, referring to years from the era name, like 2026 would be reiwa 7 (emperor naruhito ascended to the throne in 2019)
I think the reason why take so long to ppl make something about hiatory of China cz how complicated those are.
While in japan content more easier to underatand
I think japanese history is complicated too, just a matter of getting used to things
But like arian_su said, england's house of windsor is similar concept to dynasties in china, just that the dynasty names also doubled up as the name of china during the time
Do final retreat wandering tales, then pet the cat at ayisu 5 times
In heixi right
Yes
And to do final retreat wandering tales you need to do another one too, I forgot the name. You should youtube it
Oh it's a tassal and a tale
You can think of dynasty as the period of the one imperial family (in most cases) that ruled over a region, it's like saying which nation are you from. While era names were set by the current ruler (individual), a ruler can have multiple era names under them, basically using it to record the time (like BC, AD that we use currently)
nice
ming dynasty got me acting unwise
Btw shadow in bloom is after or before we go to reverly hall with big zhao?
from the description of the VS members and the Flower Messengers inside, should be before. all of them were talking about preparing for Heroes Assembly
but then it'd make the gap between separating with Big Zhao near the river to meeting him again with Little Fu, narratively weird. as that means they were waiting for an entire day.
on the other hand, if it was after meeting Big Zhao, it'd make the entire dialogues of the VS members & Flower Messengers out of place. because Heroes Assembly already happened, yet they talk about still preparing for it
i think the narrative in quest orders is still one of the weak points in WWM storytelling
pretty sure it’s after the Reverly Hall part with Big Zhao but the timeline in that section is kinda messy lol
Didnt the quest available after reverly hall repair?
that's my point. narrative in quest order is still one of the weak points in the game's storytelling. because if it is after, it'd make the entire dialogues of the VS members & Flower Messengers out of place. because Heroes Assembly already happened, yet they talk about still preparing for it
whether it's before or after, there are plot holes
And so we infiltrated reverly hall twice
I forget did we got the quest from wayferer near reverly or not. Bc i remember it didnt allow me start the quest before the place repair
it's from the wayfarer near it, yes
But it is already active before the main reverly hall quest?
yea it was already active. i remember when i first arrived near the Revelry Hall teleport stone and talked to the wayfarer, the quest popped in my journal even before meeting Big Zhao and Little Fu again
but because i thought main quest should be done first, i went to see Big Zhao instead
after experimenting with some areas to play the story immersively in order; personally i find this method to be the best way. still not perfect, but it's better:
- choose a [region] (Qinghe, Kaifeng, Hexi)
- explore the [areas] (e.g Kaifeng City, Granary of Plenty, etc) according to the order in Sentient Beings page
- explore the [districts] (e.g South Gate Avenue, Fairgrounds, etc) in said areas also according to the order in Sentient Beings
- if there's any Jianghu Legacy around, only do it when we arrive at said district in the exploration order
- the exception of the rule is with Campaign quests. districts with Campaign quests should be explored or done at the very end of the area exploration. even if it's placed early in Sentient Beings page.
from my experience, exploring this way would make the MC's dialogue to be more immersive as their knowledge gradually increase about the surrounding areas properly
for example, if we explore Abandoned Mercy Hall first before Stillheart Grove, it wouldn't be immersive as the MC said they already know the Zhai siblings (the siblings running Stillheart Grove) even though they haven't met them.
but if we explore Stillheart Grove first before Abandoned Mercy Hall (which is in order on the Sentient Beings page), the MC would learn and talk with the Zhai siblings. making the MC's claim in Abandoned Mercy Hall afterwards that they know the Zhai siblings, immersive.
Dear wanderer, bind my invitation code [BRM8OICY4U], and you can claim Echo Jade ×50 and Coin ×50,000.
Wrong chat
I am replaying it on an alt character and shadow in bloom now is a requirement quest before doing heroes assembly. I don’t remember it being like that as initially I did the main quest 1st. But I guess it does make more sense that way
i arrived at Kaifeng quite late despite playing since day 1, wanted to 100% Qinghe first. i played the Heroes Assembly main quest around early January and there was no such requirement. which means this requirement change was implemented after. i agree, it makes more sense this way
How?
It now looks like this to me
Should lock jinming pool too tbh
Ironically that one I just did

Jimming pool before main quest?
No, bc after jimming pool murong fake her death
After main quest
I completed gambit beneath the shimmer and did jinming pool
i wanna go to chang an too. will this road be expanded?
U can see snow beyond. Next area is snow area so probably that's the road
idk how depicting tibetans as vultures is for avoiding anti group of people sentiment.. it's as if implying they were latching on scraps of a dying dynasty. could've been tigers
tigers in the desert?
idk bro could've been anything but vultures
There arent any better animals
is this just me or arena is delaying?
Yeah i think this is the way in terms of chronological order
Oh I thought Uncle Tian has relationship with goddess because his name is in letter but it's not Uncle Tian but Tian Yi? that's a mean way to conceal info, when you have same last name XD
I really wish this game make mc react differently when they do certain quest 1st. It'll make it more immersive while make it felt all quest can be run anytime without make it felt out of place.
Tian Ying, not Tian Yi
i understand the confusion tho
anyway it wasnt a relationship
its even possible tian ying didnt realise who she was up until after her death
basically he saved her, and she fell in love with him, probably one sided crush
the day Tian Ying graced her village was the most important day of her life, but for him it was Tuesday
chewsday innit
Is Hexi the best storyline now?
When he was a prisoner some dude ask him if he had a someone, tian ying thought if her
Him choosing li name as his new identity is probably to honor her too
If she could go with him they would become a couple for sure
From the comments to the encounter
thanks
I think the items you pick up at some point of story are also related to historic data, but I don't have enough exposure to pin these down
what shinto mythology doing in china
Might be AI acting up, we have no idea what they fed it or which restrictions were put in place, so it might be a "leak"
oh
there is no sweet potatoes and potatoes pre Columbus in china. potatoes from America continent
||The next chapter is 凉州(Liangzhou)It literally means chilly state/city||
I don’t think this would be spoiler
But the Jade Gate Pass is a major checkpoint on the Chinese Great Wall
Might be some beetroot or carrot "relative" species, they all look the same when dirty and dried and piled up
oh so translation problem
It was built in Han Dynasty roughly year 121 AD
So please enjoy your time on it because from where the story lines of Hexi began, the Jade Gate Pass already stands there for over 700 years
unplayable!
Every translator runs into a problem of "be accurate or put the adjacent word that's easy to understand" (translation vs adaptation)
And some concept just not really translatable
Like the strategic sword’s Chinese name is 积钜九剑
We are talking about potatoes, that's not a "translatable concept" problem

Which means “Sword of the Ninth Power in mathematics”
Because Lone Cloud is a sect of Mathematicians
