In general I’ve noticed a very big improvement in the translation quality since release. At release I basically understood nothing, whereas now I understand pretty much everything. I don’t know whether that’s because the translation quality varies quest to quest, or because they did a big quality pass over everything at once in a patch.

Now I can understand it, I think the writing in this game is really good. It deals with much different themes to what I’m used to.

When I was playing through the game, it made it seem like aunt han was the witch pulling faces off of innocent people to sell, and when you found her lair, she tried to kill you as the "heartseeker", so I was confused as to why the mc was peachy with her after that whole episode

I'm still in the learning phase and getting familiar with world building and theme so sorry in advance if I ask some weird and obvious questions, I tried doing research on Chinese history but it's overwhelming to grasp full picture as European, translations aren't the best sometimes and lots of text disappears too fast to read everything properly so I depend on your kindness to help me out a bit.

I'll be happy if anyone is kind enough to explain some events for me (mainly from 16 years ago and 10 years ago) because I'm a bit confused with some stuff. If you could consider not giving serious main story spoilers - even better (I explored only a bit of Qinghe - Verdant Wilds, Peace Bell Tower, Heaven's Pier and reached Blissful Retreat only recently, now focusing my steps to Harvestfall Village and there's still northern parth of Qinghe to reveal).

There are NPCs who mention the past events prior to 10 and 16 years ago, there's information about death of general Wang Qing and sacrifice of Lie Yan. I'm aware that general died in 946 CE during the Battle of Zhongdu Bridge and Lie Yan sacrificed himself during the defense of Northern Vow Ruins, repelling Khitan invasion. Is it ever mentioned when Lie Yan died? Shrine Keeper NPC in General's Shrine (the one responsible for Sworn Cohorts in online mode) mentioned that 8 warriors, moved by general Wang Qing's noble righteousness, chose to form a sworn brotherhood in General's Shrine 10 years ago and stand against the Khitans together. If it's about Eight Talents of Hedong - that would be 952 CE (if we're following 962 CE as the starting point) so the group would form after general's death. Were Khitans active in Qinghe at that time? I'm slightly confused because Gu Le seemed to be Lie Yan's sworn brother and he told about events in Northern Vow Ruins 16 years ago if I understood correctly. Did Gu Le mention about Wang Qing defending Northern Vow Ruins 16 years ago before general went northward to Sixteen Prefectures of Yanyun?

The next case - timeline for the beginning of our story. Is it really what the description shows - 962 CE, Song dynasty? Is our introduction to the story as a small child training under care of uncle Jiang only a retrospection of the past prior to the date shown on the screen?
It looked weird and confusing to me that the date showed "Qinghe - Verdant Wilds | 962 CE, Song dynasty", then water bubble with process of building cottage in Bamboo Retreat and we were introduced as a kid there. Then we end up like 16-year old protagonist (it's stated in General's Shrine when talking to Long Wu) and uncle Jiang has been missing for 3 years already, it's also mentioned that Khitan activity had been bigger for the past 3 years and we're in a state of war currently. I would have assumed it wasn't 962 CE and we had a time skip of some sort, but 962 CE aligns with the events from the past so the beginning of story must be 962 CE for real. Your thoughts about it?

I hope to learn more about the world and Eight Talents of Hedong (I learned only about Gu Le, Lie Yan and Qiu Yuehai so far), there are still Eight Heroes (general Wang Qing being one of them) and Hanging Blade (mentioned in Peace Bell Tower) so I'm really interested in lore. Game is great so far and I love all pieces of info I can get through AI chats (not sure if they're to be trusted anyway), sorry for long post and thanks in advance for any tidbits about Lie Yan and introduction to world building.
