So there's a switch up in kaifeng and you work hard to protect people. The main plot point is on pause for now
There is a spoiler channel for story discussions btw https://discord.com/channels/1180042348755963924/1425508932993941579
No need to delete it's spoilered but Ty dawg
Apparently a girl
So I'm confused I just beat the scythe girl I'm confused in the ice and fire form is it like an entity that gives her powers
Mostly illusion technique but that’s her real form
As it’s said that the witch can change appearances
But why two different forms
Also that fight was sick
So there’s lore reason in Cn, do you wanna be spoiled
Cn?
China version
No it's fine
I'm SO GRATEFUL that we can pause AND see all dialogue history now, omg.
Does anyone know what happened to granny turtle? I just finished the main quest (sniffing and crying) and i was hoping to see her but i only saw yingying
You can find her outside Kaifeng city on the southern side. She's back selling turtles.
You can find her outside Kaifeng city on southern side.
Thank you!! I would now buy all of her turtles
....she didn't let me
I just gave her 5k out of spite
Right? I sometimes hated when either the voice acting was different from the text, or the text was way too quick and skiddaddled past my reading capabilities ;3
Alright, so i think i missed something, but is Zheng the Frostwing present in the twelve years of grudge questline, and is the other boy at the start of the game the dream the real grainmaster
i know that and the grain quest where you fight Zheng the Frostwing at the end are connected in what we see as the reasoning behind the whole grain poisoning debacle.
but i think i missed some text on the details on what went down there
Yess I spent a lot of time re-reading things on Steam recording
What was the lore reason we can't heal our own illnesses? I can't remember what the npc said.
Only miracle doctors can do that
Hey me too, smart for sure ;3
Shen yilun is the boy you met 12 years ago
||zhenge disguised as him to smuggle food to the ghost market||
so apparently my fav boss in the game, the ghost master Jiang Kui, has a sister who was kidnapped/taken as a bride (character lore screen). he vowed to find her and to do that he disguished himself as a bride and take places of other brides promised to horrible men, then when they deliver the bridal sedan (bridal car), he kills them. it said he eventually found his sister but she passed and he was too late, so he went mad and became evil with the karma of all the people he killed
im guessing the ghost bride in the tomb mist cave is his sister.
That mist cave was a terrible terrible place, I didn't like it...
But that was a surprisingly easy boss, but then again after Tian Ying, Rongyuan and Wolf Maiden everything is easy.
my understanding was he went into the mist thinking there was somehow a chance, even slightly, that he could find her there, but the mist is poisonous and can turn you into sleeping zombie, so he seems undead and insane for that reason
he was a really tough fight for me for some reason
could be part of the cause. he did find her in the end tho according to his profile lore. it also said he was the Seventh of 14 ghosts but nobody knows if he's man or ghost. probably a bit of both after the poison.
same my camera was not cooperating and there was so much lag whenever he uses his umbrella for some reason
its ok tho i left him there so i can go back and see him :3 he got a good backstory that's rare in arpg like this
the DPS check with the papers always messed me up because I prioritize tanking over damage ;A;
omg same i kept having to jump
the way im scared and havent gone back yet. she keeps appearing and the big contrast in color scared the sht out of me
The topic of "Ghost Marriage" seems to come up a lot in the game tbh, and i think the game does a great job at emphasizing just how messed up it is
Like from early on in the first area you can go and find a Ghost Marriage area where some poor girl was probably sold off and killed to marry a guy that passed away
thats terrifying
Are Auntie Han and Qianye related?
She might be her sister
yeah and the whole thing with the goose being the nightmare of chinese children lol. i love how cultural relavant this game is
qianye is not her sister, just someone who stole her face out of admiration for her. now the WHITE version (phase 2 of qianye) might be auntie han's long lost brother who was sent to qianye's family (for unknown reason) to be dissected and "build" qianye a perfect body. i other word the qianye we beat isn't the brohter, but in the white second phase boss you can see remnant of auntie han's brother due to larger build and a different face altogether
which isnt surprising since body modification is an ongoing theme in the game
Did that widow in Kaifeng ||ever get her baby back||?
||Nah they took her kid. You can see her holding an empty bundle of blankets near the end of the story quest she lost her mind pretty much||
I am just a girl looing for a jade pendant with a Lóng (龙)symbol on it.
Not just the white version, her phase 2 in general is straight up "Manly" Qianye. White and black probably represents the male and female side, yin and yang
love a buff woman and a fem man. thi game does a good job blurring the lines
That manly chest confuses me man, should I be excited or not
i've got some news if you're still confused after realizing the truth man...
the news is 😎
The truth is simple.
If your martial arts is strong enough who cares what others think, if your martial arts is weak who cares what you think
she did nothing murong
REAL
Well what he did was wrong but can't really blame him much, and he did felt bad and tried to fix things later
True but like he straight up broke her bc he got jealous 😭 even if it was unintentional
he cant make things muright if she wasnt murong
Aunt han rizz too strong she got a witch stealing her face
Also, i maybe i missed something
But was it ever explained why the velvet shade helped yingying?
Yingying gave them the parting tears made by aunt han
The one she fooking stole from us
Yeah, it was the only one left made by aunt han I think after that incident
Idk if we can still get it back later after velvet shade contacts us though
But I think they will give it back
Oh nah 😭 i hope they give it back
Iirc it was the one made from MC specifically right?
Close to their age?
No, it was one that the MC stashed away for ten years secretly
But it was made by aunt han right?
It's sentimental now because of what happened to Blissful Retreat, but before everything went down, it was just a bottle of expensive liquor
Yeah, but that's part of her job
Like, it wasn't made specifically for the MC or anything like that
I wonder if the MC knows how to make parting tears too
We're like 16, so probably not. Though, I could see the recipe being taught to us later down the line if we ever return to Qinghe
Even if we could make it, it's aged ten years, you know
How many people can even expect to stay alive in 10 years in this kind of chaotic world
That alcoholic woman in velvet shade better not be drinking my 10 years parting tears
Hell yeah amma be the best stripper
Mc only the town drunk not a wine maker
Okay that makes it a bit better 😭 it'll hurt more of it was specifically for mc
I noticed that Qianye’s last name is also Han unless Han is Aunt Han’s first name
but Chinese last names are usually first so they should have the same last name
There's a connection between Han Xiangxun and Qianye... Very morbid though...
Spoiler: ||She's the daughter of Liang family who for some reason has body parts of Han Xiangxun's twin brother attached to her. Maybe she was sick? Dunno. Either way that might explain why she looks so alike to Aunt Han. Also explains why she looks so masculine when we enters that illusion realm.||
||We can rebuild her but let’s make it weird||
Free game by the way
this little bit fked me up while reading auntie han's lores bc she mentioned her brother a few times. knowing what happened to him... TT
Where did you find this information? :0
Somebody mentioned it in Kaifeng or is it Lore chat. They got it from CN players. The new info should be from Chapter 4 which is Mohist Hill.
You want spoiler on big zhao and small zhao?
Why do you guys think Unc Jiang warned us to stay away from well of heaven?
Cus its stink
What do you guys think is in the kaifeng imperial palace? Emperor boss fight?
||Wait that's so sad 🥲 He's also my fave boss. So did he die there? Is that why he's a ghost? Or is he still technically alive?||
I just finished the Jinming Pool campaign and I cleared the first Wandering Path in Masterwood Hamlet. || Is Murong Yuan dead? ||
||Big Zhao||
Nope
Fr? I thought she croaked because I did the Masterwood Hamlet Part 1 first.
Not dead
Story order kind of a pain
Not big bro 😭
Both unalive at the end
My theory is our aunt and uncle are waiting in the palace
My theory is they're somewhere else not on the map (they never are in these "searching for someone" games
Why would they go to the safest place? They should stay in AE pavilion or KHITAN conquered land like yanyun since ||the most dangerous place is the safest place.||
Hmm regarding the palace there's indeed that scene in the trailer where the MC points his sword at some official? He wears yellow robe iirc... that could only mean Big Zhao but I don't see why the MC would attack him...
What's the actual historical time placement of the game?
This might have an answer in game, but I'm not sure since I'm Sectless, but does the sects in the game have any headquarters or bases? Can you visit them?
The start of Song dynasty
Well pretty sure Velvet Shade base is at Kaifeng
Ah, but the bases of the rest haven't been introduced yet?
Because the sect menu have screenshots or pictures of their bases, I'm just wondering if you can visit them
Well of Heaven has that big base south of Kaifeng but idk if that's their main base.
I'm wondering whether Chen Zixi is part of Silver Needle. He's also called Master of Jade Hill :v
I have some questions for chapter 3. Will mark it as spoiler just in case. ||What happened to the female couple? I got confused near the end. Also how do I go to Qin Chuan?||
I did some skill theft there, but for the Well of Heavens member, can you guys visit it or is the whole area just a set piece?
Either that or Well of Heaven since Chen Zixi is a scholar
He seems more like a healer
||Female couple? Qin Chuan?||
What's that? I can't remember hearing about those...
||Guanyin and I don't remember other girl name||
From which quest is this? MSQ?
is the one who attacked and took my jade token on the naming process jiang yan?
the eye bags gave it away
Yes
yes, msq ch 3
Are they the girls from ||unbound cave? The two crying women. One who was dancing and the other one who got trapped near the crazy lady? I really don't remember any female couple||
||Umm one of the girl (Guangyin) was going to have to marry to some guy but she met another girl who was initially after her buddhist scripture? But they get close together and near the end, the girl pretend to be Guangyin and take in her place of marriage ||
I thought we only have two MSQ chapters in the game rn? (I've been doing anything but the Main Story)
Wait... are you talking about future chapters that haven't been released in global yet?
None of the global players can answer that you know
Yes that's why I mentioned chapter 3. I know we only have two chapter for main story quest so far.
wait am I supposed to use another channel?
I don't think there's a channel for ch 3 tbh
Were pass the 3 kingdoms era correct ?
Yes, far past three kingdoms
Qin > Han > Three Kingdoms > Jin > Northern & Southern Dynasties > Sui > Tang > Five Dynasties & Ten Kingdoms > Song
End of three kingdoms period: 280AD
Current in game: 962AD
Almost 700 years
Did the english voice get better. I playing through a quest right now and they speak more genuine and has more emotion
Makes sense, (for context when asking, i was thinking about what are odds were gonna be fighting ghosts of old legends during that time)
Jin were original ones to make calvery horse back their thing right?
Idk I use CN voice.
I cant remember but my brain goes back to that kingdom in tottal war series were they were all about horses.
In like north east side of china
I think it really got better with the update that make us shouting skill name when attacking. Really want to play throught the main lore again with this new voice
Idk I'm not that familiar with that dynasty
Chinese cavalry goes all the way back to Warring states. Cavalry became a major arm in Han Dynasty when they had to chase the xiongnu through the Gobi desert. Heavy cavalry started becoming a thing in northern/southern kingdoms. The jurchens later on would become famous for their cataphracts
Makes more sense.
The jin dynasty (the one after 3k) was mostly famous for having terrible rulers and also the war of the 8 princes
I think stirrups started appearing during that time though.
Heavy cavalry only possible with them
This is how i find out about the tragic yuri...😔
Chapter 3 is supposedly full of tragedies
I am sorry 😞
Chapter 3 is full of tragedy so far
The biggest tragedy is I cannot find what the quest item A Decades Dream is used for
It fine... Atleast i can prepare myself...and tissues 😔
I got beautiful yuri at a cost 😮💨
sesbian lex, with a catch
With yuri its either they hold hands for the first time after 100 chapters or they give you the most gut wrenching angst imaginable within 5 chapters
Thats just the playbook Nana laid down decades ago
True , but after reading tons of yuri you'd think I'd be immune to it by now...
I am not
is there a sect that we shouldn't join/avoid lore wise
like the ones that our uncle considers as opps/enemies
Are there even any sects with a mention other than velvet shade
I mean velvet shade appears in the main story. But none of the others do
Someone said Jiang tells mc to stay away from heaven well but tbh I don't remember that part
new lores to read and watch.
it's why i havent touch jiminiy pools
dam was just planning to join tgem right after i get the rat sect drip
me who has joined them 💀
They'll be the first sect I join after i get myself the sectless outfit
Ironically, i was ALSO planning to join them....i just got scammed into joining the rat sect 😭😂
Found out later that the guy i stole from is the legit well of heaven recruiter
The synopsis said we don’t know if he’s man or ghost, but because he’s stayed there for so long with the dawn to dust poison, he probably went insane and became a bit of both 🙁
Probably a bit of both. Like in-between human and spirit. Maybe he got cursed because of the ghosts. Explains the cracked skin
well both is good it is wuxia.
we have others who control fungi, illusions, coins as weapons
@indigo valley she is
What's the difference between Song Coins and Wen?
if accidentally play her quest before main story. that would be very akward cuz she just sitting there 😂
🙁 I need his skin so bad I’m so glad I picked a male model. He’s gorgeous even with the cracked skin
For someone who is aware of cn version - is there any more Li Zuo lore there or not yet?
I think the lore of the rope dart is really cool
who is that? after this ends, my character didnt say anything about this 😭
We do not know, but there are theories that it is Aunt Han. (CN probably knows who it is but then you’ll have to google it up or ask someone who knows)
wait sorry but why CN? You mean some stories are region locked? 😅
They are about 1 year a head of us so that’s why!
OMG.... i have avoid CN community for this game then. Spoilers 😨
There is a community thread on Reddit where there are spoilers about the main story. You could check there if you would like
I saw that thread and opened it, got overwhelmed, and skidaddled
I am avoiding it as much as I can, but at the same time I’m eager to know all of it 😫
Me too ;_;
I am interested in knowing more about the... 'witch' lady with the scythe but I don't want to research too much before I spoil things that I am unaware of
Exactly!! And that tends to happen, unless you ask chatgpt for only information about a specific thing
I rather not because I can't even verify what chatgtp tells me LOL
I need to hear it from some random person on the internet that seems more credible just because they posted it 🤓
Yeah I will stay out of chatgpt, I want to get the full experience in game as much as possible
They need to fix the localization first, I've seen that they're slowly getting better over time
But half the time I have no idea what's going on but the vybes feel good so there I am 🤓
What do you mean?
The translation from chinese to english; some of the lore/text in game haven't been translated yet so its not available, and some that are translated, are apparently not accurate translations
Oh, yes, there is a lot of texts that needs to be translated but every patch seems to come with more translations and correct ones as well but I get your point.
But take what I say with a grain of salt because, even if its perfectly translated, I still may get confused by it so ;-;
.
damn...
this is sad. end up the guy didnt become official or anything either
lore chat whats this
Lore-Chat
who iss the secret boss in twelve year blood feud? i dont recall his name. is he important to the granary plot?
My goat died 🥲
When you are in Kaifeng city, you'll meet alot of rats who talk about the water lady and the faceless ones
actually I think it's more like a joke or something, because Jiang comes from heaven and he knows us too well ( watching us chasing the goose every day and so on) so don't want us to mess up the sec😂
Is it the granary boss? If so it's important cuz he has life changing technology for frozen mushroom. I may or may not have pull that out of my arse
Theres a Legacy quest in Sorrowfield Village (Zheng E’s home town). It will take you back to the past. There are two bosses there. The secret one is located above the waterfall.
His moves are similar to Uncle Jiang (Nameless Sword moves)
Oh nice to know thanks. I haven't been clearing any quests since I finished qinghe
Why did uncle steal our pendant
Probably to prevent unwanted people knowing our identity. We have no idea who we are yet tho
I thought it was some treasure that caused him to get chased along with us
apparently it has secret powers and is related to us
I think there is time stuff going on
is there an in-game explanation on why can we explore the past and interact with them?
The lady ugly quest is gut wrenching
Anti climatic to see the least
Yeah lol
Hello, i brew Mead as a hobby, and i was wondering if theres any refernces to the ingredients of Parting tears anywhere?
I would really like to set off a nice batch
Powdered pear blossoms and grain wine. I don't remember exactly what grain but maybe wheat? I don't think its millet.
Jade pendants were a sign of power and position which meant only nobilities have them at that time period
So the mc is probably related to tang dynasty remnants
Personal opinion but the nether world wine u buy from the vendor in ghost market seem more exciting. Hallucinogenic mushrooms so the alcohol made u get high. Imagine the possibilities
so its a grain based wine with powdered pear blossoms? thats the closest information ive got so far, i might add a little honey to the brew so it turns out sweet, as ive seen the description as sweet in game
and its powdered petals? not the buds aswell?
Take a Pic where they say you need to, and save it with the name described
wrong channel mb
No buds afaik. The npc mention they use basket to collect petals midair as they fall. So no buds
Can't have buds. It'll turn into beer ||budweiser||
It's just a theory right?
Why think about these fan-made theories?
Yes but also I think there’s real game context behind anecdotes from cn server
On the roofs in heavens pier you can see petals being dried in baskets, do what you will with that information though I don’t know anything about brewing
The npcs decribe it as catching flower petals that fall midair, before they hit anything. They are then sundried and crushed into powder. To be honest, I thought it would be like tea, where they just use buds and petals to lightly fragrance the wine but they literally turn into powder.
cheers for the tips guys
aye i might have to set off two or three smaller batches and see how they turn out
Well for that time period, wine in China was made mostly from Sorghum, Barley and Millet
but considering its reputation, perhaps Parting Tears also uses rice and Wheat was used as well - Normally they are not used for wine production because they're used as food and ration supplies
of course, wine making technique extends beyond merely just fermenting grains, fruits may be used as well, and since we have pear blossoms...
so er ma is river master?
wasn't the main story supposed to continue today?
No. We are next level aespa
So like I’m stuck on a choice for an unnatural omen where it gives you the choice to regret or do not regret and since I have the attention span of a squirrel which is the best option to pick?
God damnit now I went down a rabbit hole into finding out what Parting Tears was really like and how it could be recreated, and it is likely something called Pear Blossom Win (梨花酒)
Which is made by mixing some kind of mash for making Huangjiu(黄酒) with pear blossoms
However I am unable to find a proper recipe, but I can imagine the brewing process to be like a typical Huangjiu brew using some mixture of sorghum, millet, rice, barley and wheat.
In game they say the flowers are crushed into powder, so likely it is not a secondary ferment with the flowers, but rather it is added to the yeast and in the primary...
Just buy maotai
Thats expensive and does not taste like the parting of loved ones
It tastes like marketing and hype
What? You’re a time traveler now?
What? I don't need to know what Parting Tears look like, I only need to know what Maotai tastes like
And that's not it
Then pick up any yellow wine
People usually follow recipes from cooking like they did it in genshin impact
Not sure how we gonna follow recipe for wine
I’m glad 女儿红 still exists though
well yea, now I just need enough pear blossom to actually experiment with
and that's... A hard thing to come across in a Canadian winter
Actual time gate in real life
Man... I wish that the game would actually follow some player's choices
It feels weird already being a faction master in Nine mortal ways just to be rejected when trying to 'steal' their rope dart art, saying that the guard doesn't know you 😂
If my faction master doesnt even know the most basic of my sect then i’d think he’s a fraud too lol
No but. They already give you the martial art anyway as you join
Imagine walking in the base, faction master, rope dart learned, and this guy goes "who the hell are you? get out." 😭😂
Ruins the immersion a bit ngl
That is true
Joined silver needle sect with heal fan already learnt. Now im stuck with indestructible heal fan manual
What is that and how do i get it?
You can get it from qi sheng the oddity collector in qinghe
Or you get it from silver needle sect.
I'm in the silver needle sect now. Is it like a manual you see in the inventory?
Yeah
silver needle sect is a hassle. Cant get enough patients
new trailer dropped
Is Unfated Tian a woman pretending to be a man or is he trans?
looks like this is Auntie Han's ex (probably) I think he has connection to the Wall of Heaven from what I've read but I could be wrong
likely crossdresser
he is
Most likely trans - that seems to be the agreement across WWM twitter / RedNote
Pretending to be a man for undercover reasons.
Tf
Hear me out—
I finally got to see your face, Chu Qingquan !
My Aunt Han’s such a queen bee falling for a beta-male type 🥺 🔥
From where can i get the umbrella?
What does it mean by beta male type? I'm not American so idk what this imply
Does it mean good at kung fu or having lightness skill or just good at sword art
It’s what men make fun of other men with ignore any actual meaning
little lore that isn't the main story, I dont regret watching Wu Jinhang being buried alive
HOLY THE GAME AWARDS TRAILER SHOWED CHU FACE
Beta male type It usually means soft-spoken, gentle, or not super dominant guy 🫳
Oh
So kinda like ember of east vs Yi dao I guess
Ngl I wish we saw more of that fight scene
can someone explain to me what happened in the twisted destiny quest i got no idea
Whos that again
A creep who was following one of the flower messengers and making up stories to ruin her reputation
bruh i dont get the ephemeral blight quest. wdym the sleeping puppet was my savior??
Still Qianye is a female right?
The theory says that she somehow absorbed Aunt han's brother's body into her. But look at her appearance, still female, each dual side of phase 2 has long hair, and she does appear to be female in both mirror dual appearance of phase 2
Oh no did u kill your saviour
When you first went into the mist it saved you and took you to the doctor
The lore is that long hair killed longer hair
💀
holy crap, she's alive.
li zhenzhen?

She’s very musculine her 2nd phase, look at her manly chest
And both sides represent yin and yang
Yin = feminine, yang = musculine
She’s still a woman, but the theory that she is fused with another male body is very much legit
Her family wanted a boy obviously
Her yang side is even more androgynous
Actually makes sense lol
Daughter why can’t you be boy like you’re cousins
inb4 all that happens in mc head. so basically just his fantasy running wild eh
What does the monk enemies say when you attack them in mandarin? Based on my rudimentary mandarin it sounded like 吃我爷爷 (eat my grand father)?
explain ;w;
tian ying's gf
ah more like tian yings number 1 admirer
I dont think Tian Ying is the romantic type
That doesnt mean that she is not female.
She is still a female
Another thing, in cutscene she seems to have black hair and red suit in start of phase 2 cutscene, but then it seems she has blue hair, and blue suit at start of phase 2.Explain
I already said she’s still a woman
Thanks for the info there, thats rreally solid stuff. Aye i usually add some tea into the primary ferment for my meads, as it imparts a really nice flavour from the yeast breaking down the tea leaves aswell. Thanks for letting me know about the Huangjiu brew aswell, that's a good start to look into ratios of grains or rice in the primary mash aswell.
Next step is securing some pear blossom petals in the uk! surprisingly harder to find than i thought haha! I can find edible peony and peach blossoms, but if it comes to it, il scour the local garden centres for some fresh petals.
and aye, with all my meads i usually add some nice fruits as it adds so much more nice flavour, usually oranges and lemons, or blackberries/ cherries in the primary, alongside diced raisins (mostly for yeast nutrients, they dont add that much flavour) - the flavours that develop after a year of secondary fermenting is absolutely delicious, and all that fruit adds a little extra nutrients for the yeast so i dont have to add synthetic or chemical nutrients to the brew 🙂
Outside of learning how to brew with beer kits, I have never added any chemicals to any brews I have...
Which brings me to the next point on Song Dynasty brews.
Apparently it is so often you find bad brewed wines back then that there's cheap wines called "Green Wine" which are bitter, have off flavours... And appear green from the failed decontamination...
Parting Tears could very much be a "perfectly imperfect" brew with their proprietary yeast introducing just the right bacterial culture to turn the pear blossom wine, brewed sweet, to have just the right sour note to make it a tangy and sweet "cocktail from a brew"
Guys, has anyone done the Liu Zhishuang rapport in Kaifeng? I want to report it as a bug and have screenshots showing that the NPC has a different name etc. but not sure how. xd
Which, apparently, is the right way to describe the taste of famous brews from back then. People loved wine in China because they tasted like mixed juice, not beer or ale.
And that's why any random Jianghuer can just drink 500 gallons of wine at a time - They're not drinking 40-proof liquor... They're drinking 5-9% "girly" brews
Somehow it got twisted into this idea they down Maotai by the buckets which would absolutely destroy their wallets even if they were super rich privileged class, and... They'd all die of alcohol poisoning.
Doesn't stop the myth from propagating with techniques like the dragon breath which DOES require high proof alcohol though
aye, similar to how i make sourdough bread, the air carries the correct strain of wild yeast that allows it to ferment properly, although with brewing alcohol, i like using a pre-selected yeast so that i know that exact strain is the dominant bacteria in the brew, and i know it will be safe to drink (and saves wasting a bit of money too haha!), as it will kill the potentially harmfull stuff. For weaker mead brews, i actually use a bread yeast, as that usually caps out at around 5-7%, but the weaker ones usually are done fermenting within a few months, and i find the weaker ones dont gain too much flavour from long term fermenting
and sorry for the mild spoilers, but when the aprting tears that have been fermenting underground set on fire, that makes me think that parting tears at least is high enough proof that they are highly flammable
Well they are highly aged and there's some called "Fine Brewed Parting Tears" you could find in the game, which could very well be semi-distilled version of the wine made for imperial tributing
thanks for that aswell, i didnt know the wines were that low alcohol, also makes a lot more sense, as everone there would have dead livers aye haha!
And of course there's just the drama of it all, having 20-proof strong wine exploding like they were vaporized vodka....
yeah, its hard working out whats what, theres a lot of visual cues from the game, and im just trying to work out what would be the best recipe and process for something that would taste great whilst i play haha!
Steam distilling was an art in Song dynasty already and high proof liquor did exist, though as mentioned it was usually reserved for special purposes like tributing and military because it's such a waste of grain and the cost would be prohibitive.
The imperial court had all sorts of "medicinal wine" already like the famed snake wines for health and tiger bone wines for having tiger bones in your pants
yeah, i don't have the setup for a distilling process, and i haven't seen any distilleries in heavens pier or blissful retreat (EDIT - I have indeed found the distillery in heavens pier)
who is that swordsman who threatens bro zhao in the trailer from yesterday
what's the lore explaining the horse and ox head people in the new card game event area?
Nine mortal way workers
Ox Head and Horse Face are the doorkeepers to the underworld in Chinese myth, and ghost market has the whole "only dead men come" theme
So everyone who owes Nine Mortals sect a debt and has to work it off in the ghost market is given a Horse Head or Ox Face mask to be a nameless goon to separate them from the ghost-masked shoppers
that... is actually darker than I thought. guess they aren't just wearing the masks for laughs.
Well, at the very least ||they're not sold to be dismembered for meat||...
ahh thats why
Hollow Vale sect looks so beautiful i cant 😭
the scary theme is meant to push away kaifeng authorities from discovering the ghost market. Its used a safe haven for the common people to trade freely with tang coins, which have been banned outside
I stand corrected, there are definately distilling stills in heavens pier, just logged back in to check!!! maybe it really does require a distillery...
does that mean what i think it means
Do we have to use the correct pronouns for yingyang?
its finally out in china?
I dont know. I just saw that they have added it as a preview in game under '' sects ''
Legit based on what?Is this game like souls games where you have to figure out the story and lore by yourself?
Hello 👋
wtf, will we have jiu yang sheng gong?
i bet aunt han said "I'll chuew him up" when he saw him
is MC emperor ai descendant?
Not clear, but must have some connection to one of the 5 Dynasties since the Tang emperor needs the MC
More like it has a lot of CHinese cultural and historical referenes we need to search to get. Like the heart demons like Heartseeker
so the present emperor(villain) of tang dynasty is not of tang emperor's lineage but someone who overthrew the ruling emperor and became the next one?
and how is khitan just a distraction when he is the emperor of one of the 5 dynasties and I have seen his name quite alot(maybe the most) in the game
Its not like that
The original Tang fell to the Khitan invasion, and the Khitan established their own Dynasty called the Liao
Southern China was then divided between princes, warlords and governors since the Khitan could not penetrate further
This create a civil war for the title of Dynasty
The period is called 5 Dynasties period because 5 dynasties fell inside 100 years
Ok i need help. Im stuck in a cave (started playing today). Ive drained the water from the entire lake and now theres a underground area with a bridge. I followed the mushroom path, battled the rogues, then was sent back to the water. The path is now blocked, but the bridge area remains broken when returning back. There are NO OTHER WAYS. how to i cross the bridge?????
ah frick I thought 5 dynasties and 10 kingdoms were simultaneously ruling china
The 10 kingdoms yes, the dynaties not
send a pic I did that quest but do not exactly understand what u r talking abt
so as of now 10 kingdoms + 1 dynasty(liao dynasty ruled by khitan)?
Later Zhou are the Song later
if the original tang fell then the guy we saw at first is just the ruler of what remains of tang? ah shi even more worse
what abt the present song then?
guys whats the name of the dude in the beginning with the fan? I forgot
chen zixi
The current Emperor of Song is a result of couping the Later Zhou emperor, the guy taht created the Hanging Blade and trained Tian Ying
why tf are chinese names so hard to remember
Easier than Korean and everyone being Kim
ching chong chang cheng
jiang wulang is the dude in the loading screen right? also what happened to the baby
You are the baby
OH
there u go just using these words and editing them a bit u literally get more than 50% of the names in game
WAIT HOLD UP NOW
Not like the english are better
Jim Jon Jam
at first I thought we were the one with the baby, and that the baby grew up to be ruby loll
Super famous martial artist and adoptive son of the General that stopped the Khitan expansion
jam? XD but yea their names are too easy to remember but chinese names are very similar which makes it hard to distinguish between people
now where tf is that in game
The sidequest with the blind headsmen
Unknown, but many speculate he is the ninja that stole the pendant
You also meet him in the dreamscape
the main reason why I stated this is cuz of ts bs
JIANG YAN(my guy) JIANG WULANG
and many more which I read in game
na I dont know shi abt what dreamscape is im lvl 55 and I stll dont know wow
Both are his name
wtf dawg
how can the guy who gave the pendant be the same guy as the one who stole it
Yan is fake nickname, Wulang is his legal name
It most likely is how the Later Tang can identify you and stole it from you so teh Aureates cant find you
now that u mention it From the very first I wanted to know abt JIANG YAN(MY GUY FOR ME HE IS THE MC) and that pendant
why did he have to do it so secretively then he was our master
It is safer if you dont know who you are so you cant spill the secret and dont search for it
nd who tf are these aureates the entire game by which i mean the entire game is filled with these dumbfks
arent we literally searching abt who we are, who our family and master are(whose current status is unknown) and abt tht pendant
do u mean the tang people are after the MC?
Basically teh Aureate PAvillion(or also called Golden Tower) the goons of a super rich clique from the Jiagnan Kingdom.
It is secret who controls them directly and why they are helping the Later Tang, but it seems they seek to hlep him for favors
The guy with the butterflies that control people is the Emperor himself
I understood tht when u said the emperor was the guy whom we saw the first so no need to mention it
I am asking why is he after us when he doesnt even know us
he saw us as a baby
and now we dont even have the pendant
yea so what's this jiangnan kingdom I dont see it in the map which u sent earlier
The Aureates attacked Blissful Retreat to find the pendant from Aunt Han
Basically they are attacking us just because we know Han
I see thats a good explantion
here there is no mention of jiangnan
yet in game they seem to be a powerful "kingdom"
not even a dynasty
they are so powerful that they threw out people like the god of fortunes (ember of east and the black treasurer)
Its basically a vassal of Later Tang around modern day Shanghai
The kindgoms were very fluid during this century, they were independant 20 years before the game story
so basically its a subpart of later tang like how tibet is to china?
Dynasty title is more about prestige and legalistic legitimacy than pure strength.
yes, but more independant. more like Austria Hungary
which basically means that they their authoritative power is extremely high
so can I assume later tang is stronger than jiangnan?
and the reason im asking abt jiangnan is cuz it was stated at the start of kaifeng chapter that jiangnan had sent ember of east to the GREAT SONG to help out the problem of shortage of coins
In the game, super yes
In real life, they were almost equal but it was more advantegous to become vassals with huge privileges
I using chinese somehow i cant understand any of the character is that normal?
I think you are using Traditional characters and not SImplified
I mean it stil pronounced the same so it seems like they change a bit when translate to english
they were the wealthiest region in the empire for a long long time
Yes, thats why it is a mystery why the Aureates are so pro-tang.
I was asking this guy @limpid wolf abt dynasties
Jiangnan
Jiangnan
Its not really a mystery though? Li Zuo is the last emperor Tang, makes sense for him to hate Song and be pro Tang
🤔
For the first 2 chapters of the game it is a mystery since you dont know the leadership
pro-tang?
if you dont pay attention to any campaigns and side quests maybe yeah
Until you go properly inside Kaifeng it is hard to grasp
I dont blame people who are here for just the gameplay, the lore is pretty hard to understand and piece together
acc to my guy @limpid wolf jiangnan is kinda like a level below later tang im not saying that they are much weaker than later tang but yea
Yes this game hide a lot lore in side quest
U should really complete all of them and check every detail
Also menus, a lot of character backstory and factions are in the Research menu
I dont think Kaifeng adds anything to Aureate personally. Its a whole new story, everything I've gleaned about Aureate has come from Qinghe and Gleaming Abyss
The amount of info in menus compared to the amount in side quests thrown around randomly in notes in some desolate hut in a corner of the map is like those conspiracy theory icebergs
I actually kinda doubt if u are here only for the gameplay lol i don think the gameplay is outstanding
Aureate is against Song because their leader is the last Tang emperor
But the story is
True i not yet finish reading all the character lore yet
@dire acorn @limpid wolf so aureate, jiangnan and tang are pretty same
I love it has listed his birthday
No, Jiagnan is kinda neutral
since jiangnan is a sub semi independant of late tang
Aureate is part of Jiagnan that is controlled by Tang
didnt u just say aureates are a bit of a mystery and that their leader isnt known
who is this guy
Did not want to spoil you since its not spelled out yet where you are
INSTEAD OF GOING AGAINST SONG THEY SHOULD BE AFTER KHITAN CUZ KHITAN KILLED THE LAST TANG EMPEROR
no
I completed the main story
aha, did not know
but this relation between jiangnan tang and aureate isnt states anywhere atleast as far as I know
This one is totally different thing lol
wdym no they arent much different since in one way or another they are pretty much of the same shady gng
I have dementia but I remember hearing abt this li zuo guy
@limpid wolf @dire acorn yall are stating pretty contradictory statements
Jiangnan is a place near the South, and Yanyun is in the North. In between them is Kaifeng, and they are trying to prevent a pincer attack from the Khitan occupied Yanyun region, and the Southern Tang in Jiangnan. The game takes place before Northern Song took control of Jiangnan I believe
The Aureate Pavilion is lead and was created by Last Emperor of Tang Li Zuo, or Emperor Ai, he has many titles
The confusion is Later Tang and Tang are 2 different things
The prevention of the pincer attack was what lead to the particular in game questline about Tian Ying and his asassination mission of the envoy
Later Tang is the southern rival of Song, they are allied to the Pavillion and are trying to ally the Khitan.
Pavillion is controlled by the Last Tang Emperor
I forgot abt this guy tell me briefly abt him I did listen his name tho
Old gen legend
The Last Emperor is acting in shadows, since in official history he died at 15 years old
didnt u say the khitan conquered a part of the OG Tang dynasty and later tang what is what remains of it then why are they trying to ally
you can check pins, his backstory is closely tied to the Gleaming Abyss campaign questline
My explanation is pinned in this channel, fair warning it is quite long and only touches very briefly on many points
by official u mean officially in game or officially irl
wow quite the way to explain abt him
They are not what is remained of the actual emperor, they are the state that is taken over by another dynasty that is using the same name for legitimacy
Both in game and in real history he was killed by a previous dyansty, the Liang
no wife sad life
Liu Qingyis death started Li Zuos villain arc
hold up lemme grasp what u both said
I think getting deposed and poisoned as a child also helped
I do remember abt liu qingyi and li zuos name cuz of gleaming abyss side quest which I played with intense concentration cuz it had some statements which were closely related the main story of the game
and but I dont know shi abt them
Liu Qingyi couldve changed him
I think the best way to explain tang and later tang is old china and current china lol
read pinned description
no
Build at same place but totally dif
Later Tang is a bunch of frauds who used the previous Tang name for respect
but their little campaign failed after only a decade or so
use some nouns I cant understand
Isnt that what current china?
I mean irl china
current China has no more dynasties
Fake it until you make it is a valid imperial strategy. The Later Jin just did how it should be done. Later Tang were just losers
I mean dynasty just the name of generation
late tang is basically a part of tang dynasty right?
It is not a native english speaker
@dire acorn @limpid wolf am I right guys?
FK
No, just officers who stole the office and use the same name for aura
Tang dynasty and Late Tang are not the same and are not close
Late Tang claimed Tang heritage, but their leader was a Turkic
do u mind telling me who was tht defeated tang dynasty
Later Liang
You can count Later Jin too
200 warlords that broke free and the Khitan
fk na
u guys are saying 2 unique ahh things
I want u guys to tell me abt em acc to game not irl cuz im sure turkish arent present in the game
who's this guy now
Basically the dynasty entered a long period of decline with regional warlords getting very high privileges
THe biggest winners were the Liang
Than the khitans smelled weakness and put the final nail of what remained of the north
so tang got regional conflicts and boom it seperated and liang guys took over 1 major part of it and the other was taken by khitan right? @limpid wolf @dire acorn
also other warlords in the south, but in very general terms yes
there were other details, but it is too much history
Just know that all this has already happened by the time the games events start. The game starts at around 960-970 , dont remember the exact date, but its after Northern Song unification and before Jiangnan conquering
I see so Liang is the guy who uses the name of tang to gain some aura?
No, he comes later
HELL NAAAAAAAAAAAA
Khitans/Liao in the North Yanyun region, Song and Emperor Taizang/Big Zhao in the middle Kaifeng area, Southern Tang in the southern Jiangnan region
how does he come later when tang is already destroyed
It is liang, than comes later tang that says "we restored the tang, we are good guys"
Song is enemies with both Khitans and Jiangnan
Khitans and Jiangnan are trying to contact each other to fight Song
Tian Ying does not let that slide
And kills their envoys to make them hate each other
this is the entire china in that period?
Its a lot more complicated than that, some mongol influenced Han groups in the West were also there but they kinda minded their own business
This is crazy
When i said 200 warlords, I meant it
No i mean the way u present it
you dont need to know all that to understand the game lore
I know, but it is just for geogrpahy and timeline
so why did jiangnan help song
I'm confused about where we stand in the map. Qinghe and Kiafeng are just "sub-nations", right?
They arent really
the tang ruled majority of china and it split into 3? khitans in north kaifeng in mid and southern tang in south?
they're both part of northern song, if i'm not wrong
tang collapsed and you had a succession of dynasties in the north and several concurrent kingdoms in the south

I guess we should have a trip to irl kaifeng to explain this
northern song is the latest, and will be the last of the northern dynasties
Kaifeng was the capital and Qinghe was a prefecture
latest kingdom or dynasty?
dynasty
song then goes onto become the biggest dynasty right?
Dont bother unless you speak Chinese or can understand it well
The English translators there have a really heavy accent that I cant make out
nah, song's not the biggest
I see. Though where are we at in this map?
I think my Chinese good enough to survive there
they never really reunited china proper, since the sixten prefectures of yanyun were never regained
this is just after tang, so it's ~40 years or so before wwm
But not yet been there
liang took the south part and late tang defeated liang and said hello guys we brought back tang right? @real shell @dire acorn @limpid wolf
It does become the most influential and occupies much of the highly contested land though. It unified many areas previously under individual warlord rule
Oooooh. Do we have the latest map available.
Where u guys find this map
yeah, it's definitely one of the most influential
my dad's personal fave dynasty is song lol
it's on wikipedia
what abt this am I right?
Mine is Qing tbh
Total ballers
i like ming for the aesthetics
yeah, later tang took down the first liao, but they themselves got replaced by later jin
I like Emperor Ai of Han
If you know you know....
for now jin didnt come right its only late tang
I think u like the great wall
🫡
Eh hit and miss for me mainly because I’m not sure i like the female coat over the skirt.
do you know 🧐
you mean right now in the game? it's 2 years into northern song
Like i usually like the skirt wrapped on the outside
yeah, and i respect it
@limpid wolf yo didnt u say the guy we see at the first is the leader of late tang?
oh, clothing wise i'll have to go with tang or han, but those junks man
the navy enjoyer in me likes it
Hanfu wise i like Weijin/ Song style. Tang is a bit over the top for me (female)
late tang isnt there?
I really like Tang and Ming male
no, what you have is southern tang
So u guys actually go thru all the Chinese history for this?
I meant late tang, as in the dead tang, not Southern or Later Tang
Being female in ancient China sucked a lot
I have several Tang 圓領袍 they are nice because the slits are where my pants pockets are
You had the whole foot binding phenomenon
where are they then? like where are they(location) residing
📉📉📉
Debatable on the time period
souther tang = jiangnan?
was only abolished in late 1930s
Chill only rich one
Yes but they didn’t bind their feet all 5000 years is what i meant lol
Later tang were where the Liang were, southern tang is just below where the Song are. they border each other
yeah, jiangnan just means 'south of the river', the river being the yangtze, if i didn't get the two rivers mixed up again
not always
Many poor families did it to try and sell off their daughters
later tang and liang didnt come into the picture yet?
Yes, it came into fashion during Song
Just like how they were not cutting the balls along with the shaft all 5000 years. Most of it were just the balls
Tang - Liang - Later Tang - Southern Tang
ouch
I still couldnt understand the idea of that
small feet = more attractive
where are we? in game
How is that make u look better lol
maybe they had some mega foot fetish?
Fun fact Song was the only one without night curfew
absolute kings here though
we're in northern song, in the same time period as southern tang
Fun fact Song Dynasty Emperors were uniquely called 官家 rather than 皇上
End of southern tang, start of Song
Huh, did not know that
Fun fact Song civil officials had long “ears” on their hats to prevent them from sitting too close to one another and whispering to each other during court.
southern tang comprises of jiangnan or is southern tang = jiangnan
ANy reason why?
theres many different names for emperors
They liked how down to earth it was called
In cdrama they are notably called by Huang Di 皇第 more
Screw that, Son of Heaven it is babyyyyyy
Yes but it still included皇
jiangnan is a geographical region; it refers to places south of the yangtze in general, so southern tang would be part of jiangnan
Song did not have the 皇 at all
@limpid wolf didnt u say southerntang and jiangnan are like hungary and austria?
this guy says otherwise tho
But yeah the coolest part of Song were definitely night markets
I think each of us is playing a different game
皇帝 is the role 皇上 is hwo they call
dodgy places but the in game one is very cool and vibey
So why suddenly chinese word showing here how many of u are actually chinese speaker
Is the guy playing the flute in the encircling lake part of the story?
theres 10 free pulls in mail rn btw guys
I agree even the game couldnt translate well
They tried i can tell they really did but lol
I wasnt born in China and didnt grow up there but Asian parents inevitably lead to me speaking and understanding it a fair bit
Yeah some poem is really sucks
Like how do you translate Jianghu, i can’t even describe the concept of Jianghu to a foreigner
@real shell can u tell me abt aureate pavillian and the present tang(which i assume is ruled by the game we see at first)
Cant translate it force me to chg my game to chinese lol
@dire acorn u too tell abt this
i wanna know how yall see this
like I wanna find out how u percieve these 2
Uhm its 2AM and I have a Lady Gaga concert, I will be taking my leave
As I said the full explanation I have already written and it is pinned
Jianghu is a bunch of ppl who fighting here an there and hold grudge to each other for generation
Jiangnan, was te region where southern tang was based as a rump state, the S.Tang were called as King of Jiagnan by the northerners.
The area of modern-day Shanghai, Hangzhou and Shaoxing was the base of many powerful merchant clans/rich people
I know abt @limpid wolf what this guy said so yea
hmm I see
Wild West
Jiangnan is a big place whose core state is southern tang?
In most generous terms its the entire coastline in the south, but generally means the coastine just south of the river
so north khitan mid kaifeng(song) and south jiangnan?
wdym?
when the new story chapters drop we open new areas
why go west when two major factions are at south and north?
btw is there any one guy who rules the entire jiangnan?
Mostly Northwest
We are more preoccupied to find Aunt Han, we still dont ffind her after 1 year
Because we don care about faction
or is it kinda split up and ruled by a couple of people
We are looking for aunt
why does everything in Sundara Land go harder than half of main story
The bigger conpiracy still is not shown in the CN version
Because Buddhism is based as hell
when did 1 year pass by?
In the Chinese version, the content is 1 year ahead
They still have not found Han
ok I kinda don't mind this censor cause at least my messages aren't sniped xD
No, all of china is fragmentet, just S.Tang and Song control the richest areas, hence are the strongest contenders
u mean the irl timeperiod right? not in game one
khitan?
The chinese version of the game is ahead of us by a lot in content
yea Ik I found out abt it
Khitan just mongolian lol
More like Jurchen
ik lil lady but still he conquered the northern part and is a major part of the story
no I asked why didnt u take khitan's region into consideration
in here
ok but seriously, Bodhi Sea? Thousand-Buddha Village? made me feel things ;_;
Thousand Buddha village was peak ciname
it left me with alotta questions
wait did I ply it or not
I dont remember
Is the Heartseeker Qianye tho?
Weird how Qianye is fought within the mind of the hero, then later on she fights the main character outside of his mind.
hanging blade? the emperor of which region kicked whom in the ahh so hard?
why does Tian Ying look like Johnny Depp lol
considering how they look the same and use the same weapon, more than likely yes?
But the hero called heartseeker Aunt han, even though she was similar to Qianye, its weird right?
I bet its sister
Where we the badguys in heavenfall?
We were the bad guys in Qinghe, aside of Qianye I'm pretty sure none of the bosses we fight are actually enemies.
No, it is called a heart demon.
It is a trope that martial arts knowledge can attract darker desires that manifest mentally as demons or strong opponents
The general is a huge villain
so is snake guy
Tian Ying is also really bad, but with a good purpose
Oh right, forgot general, but snake guy is the token evil teammate in the Sleeping Daoist's superhero squad
I love that SLeeping Daoist kicks your butt just for the love of the game
What about the new boss in kaifeng
He Bo and Feng Rushi are more ambiguous. We are clearly on North Song's side at the moment, but they're both against North Song
Are u talking about my wife
Nah the big fishy
oh, that's the poor fish of the previous He Bo, the real main character of Kaifeng City
RIVER KING MY BELOVED
||basically she is the Tian Yi equivalent of Kaifeng, but she is dead, you saw her corpse at the end of the fish slaying quest||
Were we the bad guys there? Was skipping through the dialogue lol
No, the fish has been suffering because his owner died.
To eat the sediment and poison of the lake, each successive He Bo would feed a carp into that mutated monster with poison over decades, but if the poison accumulates the fish loses all sense of reason
It is a joke that the bosses of the first area are mostly good guys
||but before the previous He Bo could put it down, she died in some suspicious circumstance that the current He Bo ran on a quest to investigate, so nobody put the fish down long after it became violent and crazy.||
Yea but after you beat him when i was looking around the place they became more impoverish right
Oh when the mask breaks he finally gets back to being normal?
Uh, no, when you beat him the dirty stagnant water is drained and now everyone is working on building a dam to prevent the next flood
and everyone has more hope that the He Bo is back, mistaking your slaying of the fish for being a sign He Bo is back, and some people mistaking you for being the He Bo
Ohhhhh
Hopefully theres gonna be some like lore video with the whole of qinghe and kaifeng in like the future like some vaatividya type thing
It is not rally neccesary since most lore can be gleaned by sidequests and the Research menu
Some dialogue may be clunky, but yo understand the main gist
You can recycle them and buy them back when you want
Can anyone explain me why I fought the river master just now? ☠️
but just use your normal gold for iventory capacity
The fish has gone mad from the poison in the lake
He himself too?
Cause I understood that he disappeared and uh, somehow we found him (idk how...but the dude who led me there knew I think...)
I thought the river master was supposed to deal with the floodings and all. How come his fish went mad. Where did the poison come from?
And who was the dude in the white gown?
the river master is with a new fish, not mad
he's just back to test you like Tian Ying since you're Aunt Han's surrogate child
But we fought him. Why?
because true man speak with their fists
he is also the man who took you to Kaifeng, helped you cross into Revelry Hall..
But why?
What is his motive?
because you're Aunt Han's child, and he is in an ambiguous spot where he is on North Song's side, but he suspects North Song is the one taht murdered his wife, the previous He Bo
and you are very close with Big Zhao but not on North Song's side either
so are you ally or foe sort of deal
In marital arts media and action stories, it is a trope that people test your virtue and morals with a fight
I still don't get why we fought him. It was just a test for him? But the dude led me to him?
He spoke so...in riddles at the end
common trope, everyone is a cryptic riddler.
"You will understand when you are ready, I am not your teacher"
Then when you screw stuff up "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?!"
that's why riddlers must all die.
crypddler
Should I do part 8? I didn't do the part 8 and jumped right into part 9 of the jianghou quests
Maybe that is why I am confused
Nah, the they are just activities for rewards
You jsut need to epxlore to understand connections
a lot of info is in anecdotes and side quets
oh yea, part 8 is pretty important for understanding the river master's motivations, since that's the biggest piece as to who his wife is
I explored but forgot so many things already. It is hard for me to remember Chinese names and make the connections...
I already forgot who A'zheng or smth was.
and the big reveal to who the main character through all of Kaifeng's stories had been
Alright, then I will do part 8. Hopefully I will understand more after that
I thought we were killing the fish because they went crazy and couldn't stop the flooding. Idk

Yes, it is that kind of game. And if you lurk around rednote, a chinese app that is used a lot by the CN WWM community, this theory actually has game clues to back it up
She does look like Qianye phase 1 tho.
But why did mc call her Aunt han?
something is very sus about this npc and the npcs she interacts with, but there seems to be no quests/wandering tales involved. Is there something to this or is this just a unique backstory thing for the village?
Ruby is alive, y'all can't convince me otherwise, lalalalalalalala
i'll be joining this reality
She's alive, in our hearts
I’m wondering, did Chu Qingquan really die or just fall into the Yellow River? Did Yi Dao say anything more?
Im hoping he's alive, since I feel like Yi Dao didnt witness his death personally
I downloaded the app, now tell me which account to check?
Now not saying Ruby isn't good or anything but... I bet you all 100% that if Ruby hadn't died and became our Paimon, none of you would love her...
If he really died, do you think it’s possible he could come back in the future because of the blue fireflies? 🤔
thats over-generalisation. not everyone is edgy teenager
Think of it as the protagonist is overwhelmed with the sudden realisation that their aunt is doing all the face swapping as water lady behind their back, coupled with the sudden engrossed exposure to all sorts of 'exotic' martial arts in the scroll.
This results in a nightmare where the protagonist dreams that Aunt Han is actually evil wuxia villain that fights with exotic martial arts (scythe)
I love this take because that means my young master just decided to imagine her aunt having amazing lightning powers and i fully support that
I am confused. Was I supposed to mercy kill the giant fish? I vaguely remember the trailer showing a fish boss I thought? But I killed the fish after draining the area and the quest kinda just ended also did not understand very well who the fishes master was and where they went
The fish's master is the previous He Bo who has been featured in every quest
Because they have a similar face. Qianye is the green lady that Han meets beforehand.
But heart demons in Wuxia literature often represent the darker aspects of a character's psyche, shaped by their fears and desires.
So the revelation of martial arts power to him and the revelation of Aunt Han created a demon in his mind that takes her face.
The fact that she is similar to Qianye is both a gameplay tool(make the big boss of the chapter in smaller size to prepare the player), but also to show that Qianye is totally and absolutely fallen to the dark side of martial arts and totally irredimable
How is Qianye fallen to what you claim, when you have no proof that heartseeker is qianye?
It doesn't represent Qianye as fallen and irredeemable, it represents she is the user's PTSD
regardless of how her personality is, the heart demon is a reflection of the one who face it, not who it is based on
It is not based on Qianye though, as he has not met her before
I am just saying that the writers making the heart demon and her look so similar is priming the viewer to understand how bad she is
As in "she looks exactly like the worst version of his heart"
It is, what the MC actually faced was not given shape, if we weren't playing a game we'd just see him going nuts with martial arts.
Basically as players we saw something that went past the concept of time as the MC experienced it, and we see his obsession and fears that formed him
She doesn't look like the worst version of his heart, she looks like distilled trauma
which, of course, is huge foreshadowing not only for the first chapter but the plot as a whole, since we now known Aunt Han is not exactly picking sides on who to work with, and has her own motives beyond the supposed 'good guys'
hi can someone tell me why Chu Qingquan chase Aunt Han during the trailer? is that a flashback? Chu Qingquan still alive? thankyou im lost
Chu Qingquan is unknown, could be dead, could be alive
but that's a flashback to their fallout in the bell tower
basically Chu Qingquan is a member of Hanging Sword and wanted to use Aunt Han's techniques to infiltrate the Khitans
I dunno and now that Yi Dao is most likely dead I doubt we will see either of them
Aunt Han was against it but agreed anyways for their relationship and created the faceless, but then Chu Qingquan decided that's not enough and he himself is going to go become a faceless and go infiltrate
which Aunt Han is very very adamantly against, so Chu Qingquan stole her technique and gave it away to someone to change his face
and Aunt Han found out about it and chased him to the bell tower in rage
Iirc makeup is tied to Aunt Hans technique
The lady in Kaifeng when you ask about Water Lady tells that isnt same but similar
Since Aunt Han is Water Lady
No, makeup arts and Aunt Hans cosmetic surgery is completely different - That lady in Kaifeng says "It has similar effects, but it's not something that can change the heavens and life of a person"
Well yeah its not same lol
Makeup arts is temporary and easily seen through. Cosmetic surgery is literal face change. Chu Qingquan stole Aunt Han's proprietary technique to serve his country
this is like, pretty trust breaking
Aunt Han does like long term like transformation
With makeup so far I've infiltrated a lot anyway
Lowkey I’m with this considering we saw Chen Yixi fall at the beginning when he was escaping with uncle Jiang but he’s still alive.
you can infiltrate and mess around for a while with makeup arts. But these guys are playing the deep con, Tian Ying is deep cover for years as the monk, and now he's acting as a high official for the khitans
Hey if it works
Aunt Han’s technique is half magic half Bian Lian and has mythical ties with sichuan face changing opera. I say it’s not as easily undone as make up, considering Zheng E used it to successfully impersonated Shen Yilun to take control of the granary.
Considering her techniques are more advanced than today's cosmetic surgery, it's 100% magic man
im assuming the scene where han is shown in the most recent trailier is the battle she had with her ex boyfriend? because of the bell. also the lore is deep with this one but we wont get it until late next year :(((
I see Tian Ying and general Chai Rong involved in this right? but why they want to infiltrate the Khitans?
She cursed them to be ugly, so you could either fix their faces or leave them be to deal with the consequences of their actions
Don't save em
didn't
The new fish lord as well
I've skipped most of he's dialogue but he was called a traitor for joining the khitans
When you ask him about that he straight up refute it and curses whoever started the rumor
inside job, you have to root them out. just killing envoys or princes isn't really going to effect the empire unless you destabilize them. even better if they can do it in the name of Jiangnan's Later Tang.
I am pretty sure I kicked that girls butt though, unless they force you to lose in another battle?
What is a cultivator of the avichi abyss? (Midnight blades lore...idk)
Bodhisattvas?

Why are the midnight blades so creepy
Asura heart...bodhi heart?

They are a cult!
They are a buddhist cult that believes killing to accumulate karma makes the world a better place.
by taking on all the negative karma and cultivating the avichi abyssal way they become suras but help others ascend to buddhahood
lololol 超度(物理)
physically sending people to heaven
yea, that's the meme they're going with, all the sects are really based off of memes made srs if you think about it
"I amma be a good monk and send people to buddha early so they don't suffer the suffering of being human"
years of Chinese net browsing and memeing paying off
all these little parts where I snicker to myself
What is the lore behind twin lion? Why does it attack you?
they're brothers recruited by the Sleeping Daoist to fend off Khitan invaders in a makeshift superhero squad.
You are a potential candidate to join them, so the sleeping daoist is having them scout you or something, they're being really vague
i have a few song style hanfus, i guess i can go to anime conventions as WWM cosplay but they aren't like exact copies of clothes in WWM tho =/
The very first line they say when you fight them in chinese is "Young punk(lit. later born), we finally caught you!" then they play around with you
and yea, they kinda just
speaking of which during Song did they remove everything or just the relevant parts?
WWM is about as hanfu as wearing cyberpunk clothing and calling it modern
i mean nowadays we get so much New China Style/ Hanfu inspired
a bunch of my stuff probably not even that accurate themselves xD
is this the main quest line?
i haven’t played in like 3 days im boutta get on
damn well that went as well as I thought it would
damn how the horse survive
it took like 50 arrows to the face
keep in mind the "song dynasty" is two years old; most stuff fashion/cosmetics is going to be late tang style tbh
did aunt han and blade do... that?
Why would u think so
All these world bosses just trying to kill as for the lols
I'm getting really confused on why we're fighting some of these people. Just finished the new Heavenfall campaign and it's like one minute we're just riding a raft together, some girl shows up and we fight with no explanation, then I help him call a giant fish, he rides said fish, so we fight - for some reason -, and finally another dude shows up and they point swords at each other.
Problem with the game in general is a lot of story told all over the place translation probably makes it worse
it does concern me to see them arguing like that after such things...
🥲 Good lord I'm going through the character compendium for fun just reading up on lore and some people's comments are just so unhinged..
I have a question about the lore. In Kaifeng there are a lot of Hostile Song Dynasty soldiers. They even have camps and outposts. Why is that? Is there any context I'm missing as why the Song Soldiers are enemies?
Its probably cause some of them are corrupt
There are a few instances where listening to the soldiers explains why those particular soldiers are hostile. Some are stealing from the Song treasury or arsenal. One Song Soldier outpost can be completed using gift of gab, where you convince the local commander that he should not revolt. He believes his regiment's reassignment to the southern fort as an insult to their history of guarding Kaifeng prefecture.
I really hate you can miss outpost story if you didn’t go though the front door slowly
guys, how to do the ghost bind quest? i want to do the unwanted hospitality quest but it doesn't appear

Found an interview with WWM devs on CN site. Some very interesting points:
Gamez: When it comes to content, will you design more globally popular or internationalized clothing styles for overseas players?
Wen Jie: We’re quite cautious about that. We need to preserve the authentic wuxia flavor, so it’s very unlikely we’d add content that clearly clashes with the game’s worldbuilding.
Interestingly, when it comes to whether the game will introduce “globalized” outfits, I’ve found that overseas players’ expectations are actually the same as those of domestic players.
At a closed-door overseas player session, someone asked whether we might eventually introduce outfits that don’t fit the wuxia setting for monetization purposes. I laughed and answered: We will never put jeans into the game. The entire room laughed, and afterward everyone felt reassured.
So to some extent, the so-called “globalized style” may be a false question for Where Winds Meet. Players choose our game precisely because they want content that fits the world. They don’t want that sense of immersion to be broken. Even if their understanding of wuxia isn’t yet complete, their expectations and desires align with this direction.
Gamez: Finally, let’s talk about future plans. The overseas version has now progressed to Kaifeng. What special arrangements are planned going forward?
Wen Jie: I’ll avoid spoilers, so I won’t go into too much detail. But what I can say for sure is that future updates—in both content and pacing—won’t completely mirror the Chinese version. Although we’ll still use a seasonal structure, adjustments will be made specifically based on overseas players’ preferences.
Gamez: Could you give a more concrete example?
Wen Jie: For instance, when we roll out the Hexi update overseas, we may combine the Hexi content from the Chinese version with certain elements that originally appeared in a later update. That content may have come much later in China, but we believe introducing it earlier would better match overseas players’ desire for exploration, so we might bring it forward.
Overall, updates will be modular and flexible, with the core principle being dynamic adjustment based on overseas users’ habits and preferences.
Gamez: What kind of feedback have you received from overseas players so far?
Wen Jie: Many players are still in the early stages of learning the game, so most feedback focuses on lowering the entry barrier and improving the experience—such as UI adjustments, localization improvements, and voice-over optimization. Our development team is actively working on these.
We’re also planning to support more languages in the future, including Portuguese and Vietnamese. However, the game has an enormous amount of text, so multi-language localization is a major undertaking and will take some time.
I just finished heavenfall campaign story what's the connection between heaven's pier and heavenfall i don't think i understood it in the quest?
almost joined this sect in cn but questline was hijacked by nine mortal ways
There's no connection... The limit of connection is that the Water Master knows Aunt Han.
ohhhh i see
water lady and water master
I think the title is river master... I can't remember
i was curious cause i saw in the dialogue something like aren't you scared heavenfall will become like heaven's pier or something along those lines so I was like how are they related?
Who is Jin Zhongyuan? I'm almost finished with the quest but I have no idea about his identity, background, motive, etc.
Jinzhongyuan is none other than Da Zhao’s younger brother—he’s the administrative governor of Kaifeng and the future emperor. His real name is Zhao Guangyi.
How do I get this information in-game? In the quest it's simply talking about bad omen, purple star, etc
i thought everyone knows who is little zhao already? he is the one we fought his inner demon andd his big bro is big zhao
In the Purple Star Quest, there are subtle descriptions—such as accounts of his growth alongside his elder brother. After completing the quest, you can spot him eating breakfast at a Kaifeng breakfast shop every day in the guise of Jinzhongyuan, before the government office opens.

This is a recap of the entire Kaifeng storyline. As for the specific details about each character and their motives, the content is in Chinese. If you’re interested, you can use translation software or AI to understand parts of it. Please delete the ">" symbol before opening the file/link.
I don't haha... May be I didn't pay enough attention to details or connect things well..
Thanks for the insight. I purposely don't check this channel often to avoid spoilers, but sometimes it can be frustrating because I'm lacking context a lot
its okay. we can always play a new character to understand the entire wwm lore again. that's why most people watch the same movie twice.
I suggest completing Dark Surge
Finished Kaifeng 90%. damn this is getting better. free game by the way!
I have come to deliver my first ever message here after mobile day 2

CN players say that TGA trailer just confirms that Global will eventually catch up to CN. Probably at the end of 2026. So we will probably get ch 3 sooner than later.
I'm ready for more cinema

tbh im waiting on the sects rn, i need more drip. midnight blades looks sick but im not the pvp type
😔 seeing Han getting angry at chu and I imagine shes saying
"Han over my secret moves"
And Chu replies
"Chu want a piece of me or Chu want a kiss"
That's when she gives him that yearning look
Why can't we adopt, a'ran the blind girl. Why can't we smack her father for leaving her alone for days.
If you are here wondering "wait, she's dead?" Yes.
Her father fell and broken his leg and was left for dead on the road for days, he only returned because he was lucky a doctor we saved during the course of One Leaf One Life (the one that kept getting beat up) did not get killed because of us, so he went out to travel and came across a'ran's dad, saved him, and let him come home.
I think he was kind of justified leaving her by herself in this case.
We basically made arans dad come back
uh u wanna smack a man recently recovered from almost fatal injuries plus kidnap his daughter?
anyone know abt this?
when is the kaifeng campaign ending?? i thought it would be released with latest update??
what’s the lore
Msq is already done
what? we havent unlock 10th chapter
Main story quest bro
PC for full experience 🔥
Others are side stories/campaigns

Like jinming pool
the story order for campaign is totally messed up wahahahaha
Now, when you say it like that, no but I wanna build a house for her granny and her ya know.
Yeah, i know jinming pool should happen after the kaifeng arc. Granary not sure
Yes. It's for antiques
oh well, when is the 10th chapter? that wasnt supposed to launch then? i dont see stated when esle it would be released
who is this wei fellow they keep on mentioning in the story
wei daoji?
10th chapter? isnt cn still on 5?
do people actually follow the lore in this game
i assumed everyone just skipped through all the cutscenes
Lore and PvP are two main reasons I play this game, Chinese are amazing when it comes to creating fantasy worlds and lore
id say before jiminy pool
So .. The Ghost Light market , it actually Chinese underworld right guys?
How you get dog to give antidoce in harvest village??
It's not the real underworld. It's just supposed to be creepy underground market. However mc has himself some ghostly encounters in it
There'll always be lore nerds in every game
I'm ngl i'm kinda hooked with the story, cuz some of the lines gave me deja vu to tgcf lol
The lore in this game is amazingly well done. Although they didn't really need to write it from scratch. Just adapt the setting from real history and take inspiration from the gazillion wuxia novels out there. But not discounting what they did it's really really good imo
I need to know Uhm...
How did the kids respond with the scars on their faces in the lady ugly Quest?
I am here with a choice to heal them or not
And I visited the kids before that
Didn't pay attention much to their dialogues
Kids parents are just as bad as the kids also one kid tried to disfigure a little girl to be ugly like him
