It actually makes it more difficult to dodge since it keeps trying to make you parry everything. But you can level it up which is super neat.
I was playing on Expert for awhile and only turned the difficulty back down because the boss fights were too difficult.

That WAS when I was trying to fight world bosses at level 25 though.
