And so, in principle, I wrote something similar about the dark elves and their relationship with the Dark Valar, I even divided them into 3 clans
As someone who takes lotr lore very seriously this breaks my heart.
Dark Elves already exist in lotr canon. But they arent the dark elves of dnd or warhammer or other such settings.
The elves as a race never fell and therefore are inherently geared towards oposing the shadow. Like any and every elf that can be called evil never did serve melkor willingly. In fact tolkien himself tells us that no elf ever served Melkor willingly.
Dark elves in lotr are simply those wjo never saw the light of the two trees of valinor.
However if we want something closer to dnd and warhammer dark elves. A group of elves like Maeglin and Eol are far closer to that. However they are not evil, they are complex, like extremely complex. But they do have evil actions.
Using Ungoliant is also something i dont like cause she isnt one to interact with others and she did fear Melkor, and was sent running by his balrogs at lamoth.
.
This may seem i am against dark elves from lotr. I am not however for them to happen they need alot more work. As they wouldnt be truly dark but more grey, or they would be dark but untied to Melkor. They would be dark due to somrthing else.
My aim should not be considered as disrespect to Tolkien, I wanted to write something alternative, I have great respect for Tolkien's works, but the drows in DND are my favorite race, I would like to see them this way. I hope I didn't upset you
you didnt upset me, i just wanted to elucidate that tolkien elves are specifically very much diferent from other elves.
As most interpretation of elves besides tolkien yet after it start very much with humans but with pointy years and long lives.
Even warhammer suffered from this in its early editions, until they did something to change that (and i do love warhammer elves).
For a Drow like elven race, i would personaly sugest using another medium. I dont mind spider gods, or that stuff, just tolkien is not at all the best medium to do it.
you are right 👍
Therefore, in order to make a compromise, in my posts I made a hybrid of dark elves from WH, but with the worship of Morgoth

Im curious how you will put Morgoth within the Cythrai...
I am very curious
I wasn't going to add it anywhere. As long as the mod has its own Lore and as a member of its community, I can offer my own ideas. And considering that we know some understanding of the pantheon of elves based on two deities, the presence of Dark Aratar will be more than logical.
