Given how long even baseline elves can live, and how long it can take to cultivate the ideal bloodline, the existing succession mechanics can be quite a nuisance. I think elf dynasties would be well suited by a cultural elective succession law (much like ones that already exist), allowing you to hold an election for the next player heir where any legitimate dynasty member can be the successor (even great-great grandkids, etc).

Election conditions could suit the general theme of elven bloodline obsession. Just going to list out every idea I can think of on the spot.

  • fertility is essential, the more the better
  • maybe only high elves (and above) are eligible candidates
  • candidates with bloodline traits could be favored
  • heterosexual preferred
  • electors may have some preference for their direct family, but not nearly as much as usual
  • could make it so that ONLY the strongest blood is eligible, so if you have high elves no regular elves are eligible, and if you have high elves with bloodline traits, high elves without them are ineligible, etc. Potentially factor in vanilla traits like fecund, pure blood, strength, health, to generate a "blood score", to the point where it isn't even an election, and more of a dna tournament.

In general, the criteria could be made very specific so that this isn't just a convenient way to subvert vanilla succession.

Definitely adding the aeluran sisters mucking things up sounds good

#

they don't really have any downsides/influence right now, but the tenet implies they should

Mechanically I don't see this needing to be much different from tanistry, just with an Aeluran/Bene gesserit twist.

just thinking about it and came up with this...

Eligibility to be a candidate...
-Both must be true
--Has at least one of the following traits
---Elf
---High Elf
---True Elf
--Is of X Dynasty (same as current holder)

Eligibility to be an elector...
-Both must be true
--Has at least one of the following traits
---Elf
---High Elf
---True Elf
--One of the following must be true
---Has a holding within the De Jure territory of the title in question
---Must be a vassal of the current Title holder

*Elector Voting power is directly proportional to the holdings held within the De Jure territory of the title. Something along the lines of...

Candidate preference (default, before elector opinion is inserted). *Insert a similar system of Elf traits and their +X values. Don't forget to include culture and Religious values - a candidate who is of the wrong religion should be at a significant disadvantage. Then write an algorithm to factor in the Electors opinion scores of the candidate.

*Add some code to include the 'Head of Religion' as an automatic Elector, with a significant (but not definitive) voting power. The elven head of religion is (presumably) on the other side of the portal, so their distance from the situation reduces their influence. However, since their
