I’d like to open by saying that I love the game and plan to continue, but I feel less motivated than before and play less this season.

Much of the problems involve the following issues:

  1. Shared rank across all characters
  2. Removal of platinum rewards
  3. Zero rating gained on lower difficulties
  4. Inferno being gatekept
  5. Solos being rock/paper/scissors
  6. Speed Shrines recent changes
  7. Mercenaries
  8. No Duos
  • Shared Rank -
    Players are severely punished for playing new characters. Rapid rating loss from playing additional low level/power characters that you may be less skilled at. I did not even attempt is as it is simply terrible from all angles.

  • Plat Removal -
    I already hit Crown so there is nothing to gain from competing on new classes. Royal Crown is not feasible without massive hours played and/or godlike ability.

  • Rating Gain Removal -
    Sometimes Hell and Inferno are just too serious. When I’m tired I don’t want to lose expensive gear bags and 5k rating per loss. Gaining 0 rating and losing 5000 per game on lower difficulties makes them not an option.

  • Inferno Gatekeeping -

It’s not even worth bothering with when the opponents have 800+ gear score bags and can rarely/never lose them. A tiny map with nowhere to hide or run. A death trap.

  • Unbalanced Solos -
    Some classes dominate to the point where I see no point in playing. I played zero solos this season as I know rogues and fighters rule supreme. No incentive to play at a major disadvantage.

  • Shrines -

This allows casual players to be slaughtered every game. They will just quit. Who would have fun this way other than the average and elite? Stomping players out of the game.

  • Mercs -

They’re just useless. Against top players it’s a death sentence. Borderline shouldn’t be in the game. An extreme disadvantage.

  • Duos -

A lot of the time everyone I know is asleep or offline. I would play way more if I could duo with my brother. Forced to play with mercenaries has sucked a lot of fun out of the season. Probably 90% of our losses involve having a mercenary.

  • Tower Shield & Blunderbuss -

These are too extreme and will unbalance the game. Especially the blunderbuss. Some of the changes to the game are very extreme (shrines, shared rank, mass removal of platinum rewards, second wind buff, etc). I think you need to be more careful with huge sweeping changes and consult the players more instead of making announcements out of nowhere. I voiced my concerns on some of these immediately after they were announced and I was right. New and fun changes are good but why so extreme?

We shouldn't lose rating on difficulties where we can't gain it, period. On Platinum and above we shouldn't lose rating on Hard, and then on Blood Diamond we shouldn't lose rating on Nightmare.
