#Small recap for Ranger

Ranger is in a BETTER spot now for sure but loses against any similarly geared martial combatant with equal skill unless they get the jump. Its damn near impossible to get away and if you built for damage(why would you stack vigor on a big damage from far away class?) you're only 1 to 2 jump attacks from death at any moment. But do I think they need a change? Not necessarily. Bugs need fixing 100%. However their kit and rotation is solid now, they even have their very own meme skill.
Fighter and particularly Barb need a tone down, I'm not very good with my cleric yet so I cant speak on if theyre overtuned. Making warmauls weapon skill harder to dodge THEN giving it to Barbs was also a step in the wrong direction.
They already have several chasing tools, (a perk that makes them immune to slows, a perk that increases MS when they deal or take damage, a chase ability that can potentially have 2 charges, access to the battleaxe weapon skill, the throwing axe, and undying) not to mention how strong falling attack is in just support gear.
Fighter isn't as rough but they have a similar amount(and some of the exact same) tools in their kit for chasing as well as arguably the best long range chase skill in the game. As well as access to falling attack like Barb.
Rangers bows slow them down a ton, and the MS debuff from drawing is ROUGH, their roll is kinda cheeks too, but that I understand, it reloads the shot gun(with the relavant perk), which is very strong when aimed properly(the big tradeoff being that you are risking eating whatever big sword man has in store for you if you get that close)
Martial classes are in need of similar tradeoffs, they sacrifice very little for big damage and the ability to stay in the face of their opponents. They don't need to stack damage as their base damage is enough, all they need is 4-500 hp and they can outlast most other classes, locking then mowing them down with weapon skills and falling attacks.
And bubble shields need to not affect cc at all, that's just bad balance. Why give access to tools that can level the playing field if they dont work so long as someone spent a few gold at the merchant, or can hit a button every 60 seconds?
I'd like to see the following tweaks to the longbow: increase base damage (support gear) to 45 from 34 so it's more than recurve but less than the pyre bow. I'd like to see the magical damage of the fire arrow increased to 200% from 175% magic power, the fire arrow does 100% damage on hit and fix the bug where the fire damage doesn't register on some players.
Traps also don’t work on people just some of the time. They can jump out of it or sometimes just walk out of it normally. They need to bug fix the traps…
Traps require too much upkeep and camping
fire arrow lowers your DPS so it's only good for zoning or groups imo
kick feels like I got stubby little legs with its super short range in this 2 handed meta
Roll has always been garbage literally copy paste anyone else's mobility skill here for a buff
Arrow placement issues
Hold up though, If you build pure magic power and mdb you could run trap and 2 longbows and potentially be effective in dungeons, cant imagine it'd be good in arena though.
And you'd have to pre-plan all your encounters Odysseus-style.
The cooldown is shared of you bring the same weapon in both
Also I'd rather it just scale off what I actually build for so my normal attacks can still do something, magic archer sounds cool but it should just be aesthetically magic not in build imo
Oh, I had no clue and I've been playing since launch lol
Yeah I tried during S1 to run double recurve haha
Well, roll, LB and a windlass to peg then and run when it doesn't work
Idk man clash has insane reach but in the right environments it would work
I like knock backs for ledges personally
I used to run windlass in gob caves purely because watching people fly off ledges was hilarious
Forceful shot has let to some hilarious kills
Like the million trap floor/ceiling in the big room on gob. I've knocked so many players into those things
I think I was one of them.
They wanna dodge arrows and just get shredded
Rip lol
Did it with wizard freeze once then froze them on a trap after haha
Ouch
Yeah definitely the most hype wiz moment I've ever had
