#Support gear upgrade collection

Someone's post made me think of an improvement to the support gear system.

It would be great if support gear had their own collection, maybe it could even upgrade your support gear.

Of course, only looted support gear could be turned in for collections.

Do not give account stat bonuses for those collections.

Support gear would never get rolled stats, but it could just be slightly better over time

Turn in a few dozen pieces of looted support gear. Upgrade your generic support gear with a +1 etc.

Open the collection only accepts that specific piece of gear to upgrade that specific item, a green battle ax only upgrades the green battle ax.

And make it account wide. So any of your characters that can use a green battle ax support item can use your hard-earned plus one green support item.

Until then, If you die in support gear, it's like giving the finger to the person that took you down.

Or, hear me out. You cant take support gear into nm or hell. Even in hard you replace at least a quarter of the the gear mid run.

That's the hard part. Lose your main kit and buy a new one, lose it twice in a row, buy a worse new one.

Going back to hard mode to scavenge gold for gear would be rough.

Currently support caps at Blue rarity, it has no place in hell and is pretty terrible in NM but it gives you a chance to rebound from a loss.

I dig the idea of long term grinding goals, if a psychopath collects and turns in a few thousand blue support zweihanders, cool, give them a +4 blue zwei. They won't have a good time taking it to hell but at least it will tickle like a purple.

Stats matter way more than gear scores. You're better off fighting in a lower level using gear with good stats than using trash stats in a sweaty difficulty.

Hell, take it an extra mile and let your support gear unlocks give you the item as a cosmetic for the player that wants the dirty peasant look while rocking amazing gear.

It just seems like it'll promote a bad gamestate. Most people in nm and hard runs are already running support gear. Give them the chance to upgrade it and they'll never make actual kits. Making the gear "worth" looting to complete collections gives you a bad reason to pick it up and clog your bags as itll never outshine that 300 gold purple you can buy at anytime off trade. I think peoples frustration would be alleviated if they had more starting space in solo. I noticed in hard and experience it in nm all the time. 5-10 seconds and a barbarian or wizard has blown down the door to my spawn room and is looking for me. 20-30 seconds and another has joined. 2 minutes in and were either in a 4/5 way or one person is cleaning up the lobby. Solo right now is a pvp experience akin to an arena rather than a dungeon looter with pvp encounters. Which is what I think the majority of the current playerbase wants

That's fair, with the speed and aggression of rank grinders there are other issues in play. I appreciate the intention behind pushing players past hard mode to earn higher ranks. It's a different topic but I'd like to see BD rank require Hell+ if you're going to try for top rank, play the hardest mode. Now when they launch PVE mode players get to rampage against goblins all day with less worry about the min/max stat optimizing Bouncing Barbarians or Zapcasters ruining their day.

I see a zero worth item for a collection as a choice for players. Get loot that is valuable or take junk for your collection. If you know you'll be picking up valuable loot from the dungeon vs garbage loot from players people will prioritize.

DnDM is figuring it out, as are the players.

Crown but… man I worked 8 toons to BD in normal grind. I don’t enjoy the competitive PvP. My risk aversion is high.

I get why they did it though. It was nice to get the plat while it lasted. (Still there is 500 at platinum rank so maybe I just get there a couple more times before reset getting all the auto BD is slower than to plat 5 anyway…)

Ranking is 💯 about loot extraction. That’s why I was pressing normals- can leave with the same full bag of blues- and more gem stacks than NM: often the same rank^. The crown is 💯 just loot in the one list- that is some of way KoT nerf. Leaderboard was dominated by rats when extract.

The recent patch was made to push players out of hard farming and into NM/Hell, with no more rank^ lower, it was an attempt to fix exactly what you mention.

Is there a reward for or leaderbiard tracking kills? I see people talk about in global chat but haven't looked for it. I assumed there was an event or reward attached to most kills for the season

It might cease being an issue when they open the arena and pve mode. I struggle to conceptualize how the game will work with 3 different modes and at least 9 different lobbies to queue in

I hear you, and not all classes can solo well in NM or Hell to hit BD.

The rank is supposed to get harder as you go up. So hitting Crown is a real achievement if you're running Hell as opposed to running PVE in normal mode.

If you're having fun in normal, rank doesn't matter.

Also, leaderboards for kill count, extraction count and whatnot don't really matter either.

If you're trying to optimize your grind, start the best solo PVP class, hit diamond, start another character of the same class, hit diamond, just repeat until you're out of slots. I don't actually know if a character delete resets progress but if it does, you can do it as many times as you want to farm platinum without using your wallet.

Another note, if you want real cash to spend on the game, just look at Google Opinion Rewards or something to get a dollar here any there for a survey.
