1 possibility is a corrupt save file. Disable "Steam Cloud", then move all of your .sav files into a different folder.

You can try restoring the backups. If you find the specific .sav file that's causing the problem, I recommend uploading it here so the devs can take a look at it.

Your first backup doesn't crash for me. If PlayerDataSlot2_Backup.sav is the only .sav file, the game will load it.

I think it's crashing because of this None.CustomSaveData string. I wonder how the game saved that in there.
