i disagree on this one my friend
"Know your enemy and know yourself, and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster." - Sun Tzu
The only way this could work is if they make a cheaper shield. Don't know how much the shield will cost in the full release but it is possible for an expendable option.
A Sun tzu quote is crazy lmao. What are you even meaning by the quote. I feel like shields having some form of being able to have parts chipped off could be cool though. Adds some form of strategy instead of being able to just fully block everything forever
It means that if you know your skills and your enemies you have no excuse for losing
:| I know what the quote means. Just don’t understand the context of saying it in response to shields being able to break
He's trying to say that if you know how to deal with shields, you can beat shield users without breaking it
Oh 🤦♂️
Although I find the idea of shield breaking really cool
In medieval/ancient warfare, there were shields designed to break so they would lock their opponent's weapon
from a gameplay standpoint while it is a cool idea the rounds are far to short it makes no sense rewarding non-technical behaviour while punishing the shield user
I mean
Rounds are so short because we have no armor atm
That’s gonna change once we get it
Heavily
Adding different types of shields wouldn't hurt right?
of course not
A wooden shield would break far easier than a steel shield for example
Their cost would be different
The way you use them would be different too
i think the main cost element are weapon or shield effectiveness
There's more to shields than simply blocking moves
Deflecting, trapping weapons, parrying
The move editor opens up a lot of possibilities
this is true
are you joining the tournament btw?
Maybe yes
you should
who knows sometimes the newbie trumps the seasoned player for they are completely unpredicable
thus making them the most dangerous
Unpredictability can only do so much with the weapons' limited moveset
If you train enough, you can prepare for every possibility right now
That's gonna change with the full release tho
The game speed makes a huge difference too
"The musical notes are only five in number, but their melodies are so numerous that one cannot hear them all." - sun tzu
"You can only fight the way you practice." - Miyamoto Musashi
I've been procrastinating reading his book since forever
But his quotes are really good
I've read Vagabond's manga tho
Inoue's adaptation of his biography is great
Vagabond was great
namaste
you want to do some practice?
I can't use the pc rn
i see okay
I misunderstood this one
same with sun tzu
This is funny because one of his most popular quotes
Talks about abandoning your own body but preserving your honour
Shows up 6 hours late to a duel stinking like shit
Lmfao
my kind of honor
Honour is really subjective for Miyamoto
he doesnt really explicitly have a feeling about honor or dishonor
winning is most important
He does talk about it
Twice apparently
In both he says that you should give up your life but not your honour
I think he's talking about not straying from your Path
yeah i think i agree with you there
he was obsessed with the path
After my gladio mori sun tzu video im making ill probably make a miyamoto musashi one
perhaps you are right
You can
You can get the menu editor now and it’s funny lmao
You can’t change moves so they’re pretty useless still cool though
how?
Dm
Tbf the strategy is to bait the shield into a wrong position
You can strafe the head from above, force the shield use to shield high then just stab them
Or leg sweep once theres a better leg sweep attack
pretty cool becouse there be more options than cool ahh dance
'bout that "shields can be bypassed with skill" talk and the "a newbie can defeat a master with unpredictability", they remind me of the notion in gaming that skill is divided into 3 categories: body (how well you can do the inputs/how long you can play without starting to falter from exhaustion), mind (how well you understand the game) and heart (how well you can predict your opponent's moves and be unpredictable). bypassing shields works such that usually your best bets are attacking from above and sweeping the leg, but the one with the shield can protect against either. good players can bait enemies into putting the shield in the wrong place, and newbies are unpredictable by nature, making it so protecting yourself against them is really tough.
anyways shield breaking lets you bypass all that
not a fan. rather have the weapon remain the same throughout the duel
