They're used for mod compat regardless.. That's like the only use for leaf item tags
Generally speaking item tags will ensure that your mod does not have weird conflicts or missing data when used with other mods that intentionally use tag items for things like recipes or other features
Not adding items to their proper tags is just unfriendly to the modding ecosystem

I mean sure you can make a tag for them in your pack or you can actually tell us what it’s used for, sometimes there’s exceptions and that’s fine @near plinth

Once again I am referring to the item tag which is literally only used for compat
I don't think there is a single instance of the item tag being used for anything BUT compat lol

The most useful thing TelepathicGrunt ever taught me is that I should put my blocks and items in as many sensible tags as possible
And additionally after looking at the tag, leaf tags are not actually controlled by decaying or loot
They are just used.. for other things..

Creative only obtainable block right? Can see it going either way. Though tagging as leaves for make JEI/REI/EMI item search easier as can search by tag to see all leaves option available (for building or whatever)
But when these items do become survival obtainable, definitely tag them so things like idk, leaves eating mobs can work or tree veinminers detection working properly, etc
