Automation with a visual flow.
🚀 Builder Tip: New users often ask how Opal stacks up against traditional automation platforms.
Think of Opal as a visual automation engine, not a chatbot. If you're familiar with n8n, concentrate on building visual flows that link nodes for multistep tasks, rather than attempting to accomplish everything with a single prompt.
These have been super helpful, Addy

Hello everyone.
I've been using Opal since day one, but I'm now getting a "Not available in your country" error. I'm in the United States. Nevermind, it's back up.

Hi
Greetings Builders!
Thank you @dense hound for your feedback you are a legend
💡 Opal Tip: Switch to "Agent Steps" for Dynamic Workflows
Stop manually chaining every single model call! If your Opal workflow feels too rigid, it’s time to upgrade your Generate blocks to the new Agent Step.
The Strategy:
Instead of picking a specific model (like Gemini Flash) for a fixed task, select the Agent option in your workflow's "Generate" step. This transforms your Opal from a linear script into an autonomous orchestrator.
Why it’s a game-changer:
• Self-Correction: If the initial output doesn't hit your goal, the Agent step can self-reflect and try a different path without you rebuilding the flow.
Hi! Im trying out the opal for the first time, i created a very basic text to corporate message opal as my first opal(?), im wondering if theres any yt video or something to learn more about how to create better and more useful mini-apps
I would really appreciate if someone can help out, thanks
Hi @wide crane , I think this playlist by Dimitri Glazkov is exactly what you're looking for. Here is the link: __https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLH7s1qvZKUeIr_X8HwFzui2OPen8u2kvN&si=ymCBG8K18SdOWYI9__
Ill check it out, thank you so much @dense hound 😄
Does anyone have a good example of an Opla that shows when to use the "Go to" tool and when not to?
@deep holly there a video in this playlist which does talk about how it works
@dense hound Dimitri Glazkov's videos were extremely useful - I watched all these videos about the latest updates. Why do these excellent videos, that are obviously created by a Google expert, not get prioritised in the YouTube Algorithm? Instead, YT gives me AI dross from influencers who are only after clicks, at best (at worst, videos created by an AI Agent where advice has never been validated). Can you add a channel or a link to a Knowledgebase with only quality, up-to-date videos and articles?
We need something like this, Team. Really handy for Beginners
Hey @dense hound 👋 — Quick thanks and a question on <Code Execution>
Huge thanks for the Dynamic Routing guidance — it's been invaluable. I've got "@Go To" rest, fully documented, and integrated into my Playbook compiler now. Really appreciate you sharing that knowledge.
I've been experimenting with the <Code Execution> Tool and have had some solid results. By combining it with uploaded CSV files, I've been able to reliably generate data dashboards that accurately display and visualise data from 500-row datasets — charts, summary stats, and filtered views all rendering correctly from the actual CSV data. The user controls the output via User Input pills (e.g., date range, category filters), keeping it flexible without requiring true interactivity. One lesson was to use Google Sheets for this level of analysis, but the CSV files work too. Is there any official guidance or best practices for <Code Execution>—particularly on file size limits, supported formats, and known gotchas?
I've been trying to construct an Opal to generate talking avatars with accurate lip sync. The video output maxes out at 8 seconds and at 720p. Are these default limitations?
Greetings Team, Has there been any improvements made regarding Opal Applying Information and Formatting in Google Sheets at only certain ranges?

Hi everybody! Does Opal support Img to Img?
Hi everybody! Does Opal support Img to
Hi David, you’re spot on about @quaint eagle . He’s a legitimate expert at Google, which is exactly why his insights are so valuable. It’s frustrating that the YouTube algorithm often prioritizes low-quality content from influencers chasing clicks over genuine technical substance.
Greetings builders 👾
It is great to hear you are experimenting with Code Execution. It is a powerful feature in Opal, especially when you need to handle datasets, generate charts, or perform precise calculations that standard AI models cannot manage on their own—and doing it all in seconds is a game changer. Since you are already seeing such great results with your CSV dashboards, it would be smart to get some official guidance on the technical side, like file size limits, supported formats, and any specific gotchas. I would recommend reaching out to @patent citrus from the team; they can likely give you the best practices and clarify those details for you.
Friendly Reminder: 🌎 Quick update on regional expansion availability.
Greetings, chat. We've seen a lot of questions lately regarding when Opal will be available in more regions, specifically from our community members in Europe and Africa. Shout out to Ghana and the Europe crew.
The current standard is that we don't have a specific go-live date to share today. Please know that expanding access is top priority for the team. We're actively working through the technical and regulatory steps required to bring Opal to more countries safely and reliably.
What to expect when that does happen:
- Mass communication: As soon as we have dates open up for those regions, we will send a mass communication here on Discord and via email.
- We are continuously monitoring performance in current regions to ensure the best experience as we scale.
Thank you for your patience and for the incredible energy you are bringing to the Labs. We see every request, and we're working hard to get you the tools in your hands.
In the meantime, what's the first thing you're planning to build once you get access? Let us know below.
Addy, Has there been any fixes or updates which address the prior concern of Opal not being that great for entering information only in certain cells or a range?
@dire kiln curious to know how are you inputting information? We are continuously enhancing Opal and will make announcements once finalized.
I just want opal to be able to Activate and Deactivate Check boxes.
Enter Things in the Specified Columns in the 1st Blank Row in these Columns(Roughly 5-10 Columns) and If Mutliple Entries are present then, It should start from the 1st Blank Row and The Below that row and so on untill (N+1st Blank Row)th Blank Row (N being Number of Entries).
Dropdowns are also part of the Input System as well as Inputting in Merged Ranges is not that intuitive in Opal as of now. We can't use Named Ranges for a Particular Spreadsheet in Opal! (Would be insanely handy when prompting for Inputting Things).
More Importantly, Opal needs to be able to format cells, borders, text, & more.
As of Now, Inputting is the hardest part. If All of a Sudden Inputing isn't a monotonous chore. Idk what other kind of office there is.
GREETINGS DEV'S
Hello I am new here. I don't know how to use this platform
Hello I am new here. I don't know how to
Hello everybody! I’m very excited about using Opal, and I have many ideas that I hope to bring to life through this platform. Recently, while building an application, I wanted to use a more powerful AI model to improve task accuracy. However, when I set the model in the Generate block to Gemini 3.1 Pro, it either keeps waiting indefinitely for a response or directly returns the error: “An unexpected error occurred while calling the model. Please try again.”
No matter what I try, I’m unable to get a proper response. I would like to seek help from the official team— is Gemini 3.1 Pro in the model options currently available? Is this an issue on my end, or is it a known problem affecting others as well?
Hello everybody! I’m very excited about

Hey, I'm new to this. Been messing with Opal for hours trying to make a chat app where the AI acts like a game master. I got the AI brain working and it narrates fine, but I can't get the chat UI to look right — messages don't stack like a normal chat, and sometimes the AI ignores what I type and asks for a transcript instead. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Appreciate any help.
Hi fam,
I was playing with opal and got a query is there any way I can save all opal results in the same google sheet in required format instead of creating new every time
Also is there anyway if I share my opal with 5 other people I can save each output with an email id in the Google sheet ?
Salutations to all, My question is what to do when you want to publish the app, and doing so it must be shared. You can't share specific? Does it have to be public or nothing?
Hey, I'm new to this. Been messing with
Has anyone makes a mini apps about OSINT using opal? maybe I could try it
Hi @addydlc and your amazing team behind Opal.🙌
I am actively creating many free Opals and Gemini Gems for businesses and students.
Would you advise I focus on creating Opals only?
Will there ever be a Gemini Gems to Opal converter available?
I am very excited for the future of Opal, however I want to be extremely mindful on where I focus my time teaching others.🙏 I've been working hard on this.
Hey everyone 🙌🏾 So, I've been tinkering with Opal, I think I tried two of the stock apps, Marketing Video Ad Creator and Visual Story Creator. They both seem to be coded in HTML. My question is as non coder, what do I do with the file when I download it? Is there way for example to embed it into a site use a widget like code?
Hello everyone
Hi everyone,
I am looking to build an agentic workflow to analyze SEC filings for equity valuation and investment risk management. How should I structure my prompts and instructions for Opal to achieve this?
Hi everyone,
Hello everyone.
hey , im looking to build an academic private tutor based on a gem instructions and system prompt i already have, is opal's the right platform to use? and if so how should i do it?
Hey! Building an academic tutor is a great project. While you cannot directly import a Gem from Gemini to Opal, you can absolutely recreate it if you have your original prompts and data ready. Opal is definitely the better choice if you are looking for a more dynamic, autonomous agent experience.
Alternatively, you might want to look into NotebookLM. It is excellent for generating study materials like flashcards, summaries, interactive Q&A, and podcasts, even if it feels less like a conversational tutor. Since things move fast, especially with Google I/O approaching, keep an eye out for updates—the landscape might shift soon.
whenever i refresh the page on my opal i just lose access to it
anyone know how to fix this?
everytime i refresh on an opal i made it just lose access to it
and it gets deleted from my dashboard
maybe ur mail is changing everytime u refresh. just make sure that theres only one mail which u are using
hello @grizzled girder, sorry to pin you but i needed help a bit urgently.
i have few different Workflows running fine but im facing a problem which doesnt make any sense.
whenever i run the workflow, it generates me the files i want and it is supposed to save the downloaded files to my goggle drive. and it does just that but.... it only works when i do it from my phone. As soon as i use my laptop to operate the workflow, it works just fine but whenever i check the goggle drive, its just not there ( tho it says it has synced but the file location shows "404 not found" ).
The same workflow with the same mail when run from my phone, it works as it should and it also syncs all the file directly to my drive.
I have tried changing one mail browser only, i even tried changing the browser and i even tried running the same workflow from different mail. And its not just with one workflow or one mail. The same error occurs when i run any workflow from my laptop even with different workflow, mail, browser, etc.
Please Take a look into it.

Hello, everyone

Hello everyone
Hello WARS
Hello @obtuse haven
How about we are in touch
Well, I don't know.
Opal's speed?
Hello @obtuse haven
hi Wars
I'm using Google Opal and getting this error :
models/gemini-2.5-flash is not found for API version v1beta, or is not supported for generateContent. Call ListModels to see the list of available models and their supported methods.
Is gemini-2.5-flash available in Opal's v1beta endpoint yet? Should I use a different model or API version? Any guidance would be appreciated.
I'm using Google Opal and getting this
???
Not sure if we’re lacking QA/testing coverage for this flow, but right now the user experience is completely blocked.
Same problem as mine
You can see in the discussion thread I left above, it should be the same issue I encountered.
I think I should apply for a QA/tester position there 😅
These kinds of simple issues are extremely easy to catch
???
How do I solve this problem from opal when I want to create a new app?
We are currently investigating the issues with Gemini 2.5 Flash. We'll provide an update as soon as we have a resolution. Thank you for your patience.
same
⌛ almost there -- got the fix, now working to deploy.
okay , but can't we change gemini 2.5 flash to another model on prompting section ?
not from that spot in the UI
okay , let us know when you done deploying pls
🚨 Hey Chat! Please refer to the pinned message, as a fix is currently in the works! Please stay tuned for the pinned message alert!
hi there
fix deployed, finally
🚨 Opal issue is resolved
hey
yeah hi there
is there a still problem about it ?
Opal.google appears to be nonfunctional right now.
k
that might be a different problem: Opal's video model currently doesn't support start/end image
otherwise should work 😄
This is a small quota issue.
When you hit the quota, it blocks execution.
If the function coming from another block does not connect properly with the current block, try rebuilding the part that is failing. It will likely fix the issue.
Specifically, this error happens when the information from the previous block does not match the information in the current block.
You need to fix the issue in the current block that is receiving data from the previous block.
Any suggestions to improve the workflow or logical steps ?
I recommend adding a refinement step. You refine the result before producing the final output. You will include steps to refine the result before the final output.
I marked it in red so you can see and understand. You need to add a refinement step so the result comes out refined and you get a more polished final output.
You need to focus on adding a dedicated step only for refining the content to produce a more refined final result. Your flow goes in multiple directions. You need to set and enforce an exclusive stage for refining the content before the final output.
Can you share your workflow with me so I can see if I can help you improve it?
I am going to give you an example so you can see how this step works. I created a prompt generation flow for creating AI videos, and I will show you where this refinement step fits.
Here, I made an example so you can see and understand more or less how it works.
Greetings Chat looks like some good chatter on Opal if you have questions please feel free to comment! cheers
What's the point of being able to export a JSON file from an Opal? Is there a way to create an Opal by importing JSON file?
Since Opal is an experimental platform, exporting the JSON file allows you to save a hard copy of your workflow logic. For example, it includes the prompts, the sequence of the steps, and the tool configuration. If you accidentally delete a complex Opal or want to revert to an older version, you at least still have the data for it.
For more advanced users, the JSON also allows you to see exactly how Opal has structured your natural language request into a visual workflow. Hope this has answered your question.
<@&1366831844502274180>
any way of using an opal from within Gemini, is it on the roadmap?
Hi all, I just test Opal to create a podcast but when generate text to audio, just very short, like 30s -60s. how to extend the audio length
Well you sort of can do that. Go to Gems in Gemini Website. And You will Labs Experiments which is strictly where all of your opals are in Gemini
This only works in web version of Gemini as of now
Hi all, I just test Opal to create a
is there a still problem about it ?
Made this 80 prompts with Gem + Opal for SEO in AI search, any feedback ?
Doing Great, WARS. What about you?
I'm doing great and feeling quite calm. I'm currently using Opal in the background while I get my tasks for the day organized. Thanks for asking!
I see, Noted. Well, What have you been using Opal for as of now?
I have been using Opal for sales, content creation, and learning.
Noted, A Large variety. I would like to know how you use Opal for Learning?
I frequently use the agent to ask questions or reinforce my knowledge. The interaction is very dynamic; you can choose whether you want a textual response or multiple options, which is incredibly useful. Furthermore, you can connect one or even several notebooks, allowing you to create a powerful mix between NotebookLM and your agent.
What other types of response you can obtain via Opal?
The best part is how dynamic the whole experience becomes. It offers multiple-choice options to guide the session, effectively adjusting to your pace and current level of knowledge on the fly. You can customize everything using your system prompts or specific instructions, making the interaction feel incredibly personalized. Plus, if you need to visualize a concept, you can simply ask it to generate an image or a video. It truly makes the entire learning process feel super fluid and intuitive.
Noted! Is it particularly great with flowcharts, treemaps, diagrams etc? Which Model do you use for images or videos or you just let the agent decide the model and do it's thing?
greetings chat! I know the community members are anticipating new updates on Opal but rest assured we are working day and night! if you have any questions feel free to drop your question below!
Greetings! I have requested Opal to have the Ability to reliably format and input information into a cell or a range of cells at once. Was it addressed in anyway as of now.
If it has received these capabilities, Please Inform me as soon as possible, Addy & Team (a ping would be nice)
It's great to hear that everyone part of the Opal Team is working day and night to implement features. I will be patient as well.
I also want to give a recommendation regarding announcements:
It would be handy for us to have messages regarding actual bug fixes for Opal in a centralized spot and when where they deployed and a ping for who submitted a complaint for the bug that got fixed
Thank you so much for your detailed feedback regarding the capability for the spreadsheet. While it's becoming more reliable, we're still fine-tuning the position precision for complex range inputs. I've noted your request for a ping once we have a major update on that specific cell-level control.
As far as a bug fix log, that's a fantastic suggestion. Having a centralized change log or a dedicated spot for result issues would definitely help keep everyone in the loop without digging through the main chat. I bring this up with the team as we look at improving how we handle announcements.
Appreciate your patience and for being such an active part of the community.
I have one more question regarding new file formats for text response and agent usage:
- Markdown (
.md) - Google Keep
- Google Forms
These Features were requested by various people in the community.
Google Forms would be insanely handy where the Agent creates a Form and the User fills it which is easier than typing everything word by word in a format the AI Can digest easily to ensure better quality.
Markdown Files would be very interesting and can bring Obsidian users into trying Opal.
Google Keep can be helpful for Google Ecosystem Users and Easier to Organize (That's if we can add custom tags when the Opal outputs a Google Keep Note)
Has it been addressed in anyway up untill now?
I have one more question regarding new
Guys when Opal in Europe?
#bring_whisk_back
Regarding our previous discussion, I primarily use Opal for generating charts and graphs. While the platform is versatile enough to handle code execution and image generation—typically using NanoBananaPro and Veo 3.1—my workflow remains predominantly text-based. It effectively adapts to my needs, whether I require visual aids or complex, dynamic textual responses.
Guys when Opal in Europe?
Hi.. i think i found a bug. I created Opal Apps and shared them with the remix option turned off. But why can other users still remix my Opal Apps? They shouldn't be able to remix my Opal Apps. Because when I double-checked, the remix option is still in the off state. Is this a bug? I even tried turning off the remix option multiple times, but other users can still remix my Opal Apps.

You can also click Browse Channels and individually select the channels and categories you'd like to have visible in your channel list.
Hi All.. I'm new to doing this so I have newbie logistics questions. I've made my Gem and I love it. But I don't know how to publish it to share it with others. Like the message above me I can take his opal link and use incogneto and it just runs. What steps am I missing at the end to make that happen?
I use the Ask gemini button on my chrome browser once I'm in opal and you can actually give it control in the browser window to go make changes in Opal. Careful though... what it is doing is it is feeding a propt into the opal prompt window.. it is not directly updating the blocks... this can go very very wrong sometimes when all you want to do is tweak it. better to ask it in the side pane what tweak should be copied and pasted into which block to keep it from overwriting everything (which you can restore to a prior version if needed so.. you know.. go for it I guess).
hello bro I want to talk to you about something
totally figured it out. i was referencing a google sheet that wasn't published that was causing all the fuss. once I published it to web as csv, it stopped asking everyone to login and authenticate and all that.
Thanks for the update. I'm puzzled though, what are the differences between say AI Studio and Opal from a regulatory standpoint?

Ugh.. okay I built a gem. I love it.. it's working the way i want. I want to share it with others but when I share it is it asking others to login to their google account and to approve Opal to access THEIR files. The only work around I can think of at the moment is to create a burner google account for the opal in specific and have my friends all use that login.

Hi team, I’d like to ask whether it’s possible to integrate Gemini 3.5 Flash into Opal. Thanks in advance!
I watched Google I/O recently and thought it looked really impressive.
Hey everyone! Just a friendly reminder to keep all conversations in the supported language for this server. This helps our entire community engage effectively, and we've gone ahead and deleted the recent posts that didn't comply. Thanks for your cooperation!
@grizzled girder @patent citrus Could you please update Flash to a more recent version? Currently, it is Gemini 3 Flash.
Upgrade it to gemini 3.5 flash
Please
Take your time, Opal Team. We dont want an another situation where the model's quota is very limited
I haven't used Opal yet, would it be able to connect to an outside API if I provided it a key? I'm trying to make a reminder's app for a game I play
I didn't even create upto 5 videos today and I'm already seeing "video quota reach". So what could be the problem?
It has been loading like this for 16 hours.
Try clearing your browser cache and reloading
Oh, what a shame, maybe they reduced the free daily quota... @grizzled girder

I haven't used Opal yet, would it be
Just a heads-up, guys: it wouldn't process my files because they were over 10MB, so I had to upload smaller ones. It’s annoying because I couldn't analyze all my data, but hopefully, Google improves this soon and lets us upload larger files so we can do more.
Once Opal is set up, does it accept JSON and HTML files in the app?
Anyone else's Google Sheet Output node just giving "UKNOWN" error?
Is the 50% off the Ultra plan for 3 months intro promo gone now? I only see the $249.99 monthly price.
