Hi! I saw that daily limit was reduced from 100 to just 15 for my account. Is this a temporary measure? It was 100 whole time. Region is in available list and payment was made from same location and account is not enterprise. What can it be?

Greetings all. I'm sending two example pages of a UI design to Jules, which is picking up a codebase from OAI codex, which had produced a thoroughly uugly design itself.

The export seems to work (I see it stream in HTML/CSS and the reference images from stitch), and it generates a plan and goes to "working."

Shortly after, the task when selected in left nav says it's waiting for approval, but I see no call to action anywhere. I checked to see maybe that works via PR, but nothing.

Am I missing something or is this a bug?

As it happens, for my very first two attempts to use jules, it was stuck with the working spinner and the big green approve plan button didn't appear. When I prompted it about it, it then presented the approval button. I suppose it's possible I failed to try to scroll all the way down, but I'd just been sitting and watching the thing run, present the plan in output, and that was it.

Ever since then it's worked as (I know understand) is expected.

honestly, having bugs like this from time to time is not a huge problem.
the responsiveness of jules is more of a nuisance because it's a permanent issue (meaning conversations loading, lagging etc).
i think most people have an understanding that a (likely) small team like the jules team can push buggy code from time to time, it's absolutely normal and.. yes, who wants to get hold up with testing every time..i get it.

if i see correctly, while jules does have an open source licenses section, that seems to apply to the installed / used toolset within jules, while jules (the ide) itself is not open sourced.
that is a shame because your power actually lies in the VMs, the google infrastructure, not the frontend code.
maybe you can leverage the community here.. i mean.. not the jules community, but the open source community, the actual developers, and have them help you out a little, i am sure a lot will be happy to jump in and help the gigacorporation make a better and more expensive product.

I think this is a separate issue from Gemini 3 being shut off, but I agree that the focus should be on making the core functionality reliable and the differentiator is running the tasks on the VMs asynchronously. Having to enter the UI at all is very frustrating. It would be better to make the API fully featured and allow people to build on top of it.

@Rue Thanks for all the updates! On this particular subject, I think you are conflating a few different things. The primary issue mentioned in that comment can be resolved without any additional open sourcing from Google; simply make the API complete. Developers can build on top of the API.

There are many different ways of interacting with Jules right now, but most of them are incomplete because the public API is incomplete. For certain interactions, users are forced into the Google provided UI which is slow and doesn't work well. Meanwhile, the core product has bugs and reliability issues. The focus should be on making the core product reliable, while giving users a way of interacting with the product more directly.

As a side note, if the Jules CLI was open source, then you'd probably see better adoption and people could improve that tool directly (I personally have not even tried it because it is not open source), but this is a secondary problem and a bit of a distraction.

Any open source tooling would be working with the public api, so as long as the api is incomplete and the core product behind it is unreliable, additional open sourcing is ineffectual.

1. Delete tasks/sessions (very annoying to do in the UI and it was just made more annoying)
2. Set/update custom environment and vm snapshotting (this feature currently somewhat broken even when used through UI).

I've been hitting some walls with Jules. Here's my experience with it:

• It keeps making athe pps throw a script return error, and it hasn't been able to fix them even after multiple attempts. Sometimes I noticed that the app was working perfectly in the background but the popup of the script error was still there for no reasons.

• Its self-testing is super basic—it only views the starting page and completely skips checking if any of the buttons actually work when pressed.

• It also often forgets to display the screenshot sometimes (especially in long context conversations). When I ask for it, it tends to add the screenshot in the files list on the right.

I received this with the Gemini 3 model. But I think had the same bugs with 2.5 pro model as well befor

so, at the danger of advertising for google megacorp 😄 what i found was that, if you have a google ai pro subscription of any kind, you get some usage of gemini-3 preview in the cli, which is pretty cool, or you set up billing + api key and pay a fortune (1 day coding constantly with gemini cli was around 8 dollars for me if i recall correctly).

the cool thing is, gemini is able to run cli commands for you, so it doesnt just tell you what to do, it actually runs the code and generates mid-tier results that will take longer to do manually. i feel it's more capable than jules because it can actually leverage docker and all the stuff you install on your machine, for example in jules, the sandbox is constalntly rate-limited by docker-servers, i assume because the anonymous acc is based on the ip of the datacenter or something similar, and all jules users get the same rate limiting pool from docker.
which.. yes you can work around by giving it your credentials so the next data breach can spread them around or something.

what i want to say is that, the cli does some pretty nifty work and it feels more capable than jules, though the cli often falls back to lower-end models for some tasks where i'd say these models are not a smart decision, and i don't think you can decide what model it uses for what part of the task you give it

so, you can do it "without paying (extra)" if you already subscribed to jules, if not, you'll pay, and not a minor sum either

no, you'd need to make a new task, the VM destroys itself in 30 days if I recall, can't upgrade model midtask and it might be too old. Just make a new task, you can have ask jules to look at your git history for refactoring opprotunities or just the whole repo generally "investigate our repository and write up an architectural report to onboard a new developer"

@swift karma A quick fix I found with: copy the vm setup script, and put it in your repo as vm_setup.sh. Run echo do setup for the new snapshot.

And start your task as usual, but ask to run the vm_setup.sh script as well.

As I said, you can circumvent the issue by resetting the VM snapshot in the environment tab of the repository.

I've been having some issues last night or roughly 12 hours ago till now with Jules stalling out on tasks, where as 3 days prior it was a lot more speedy.
Sometimes Gemini 3 gets stuck in a thought spiral forgetting instructions, if this happens, do I pause the session, give instructions and unpause?

I'm using a separate plan.md for every stage and separating the tasks into smaller stages and then tasking Jules synchronously stage-by-stage to accomplish the tasks. I'm aware that my use of Jules is experiemntal (nix develop/gcc/cmake) for C/C++ dev.

I have entered a phase of development where requesting small changes be made for incremental progress is no longer enough to have a productive day. Now, what occurs when I try to make requests change-by-change is the models will overshoot the goal by making changes not requested that are based on reasonable assumptions which were never voiced. This leads to impossible attempts to undo the unrequested parts but keep the good parts by requesting the language generator operate in reverse. This is first done without purging the context and eases into feeble attempts to convince the model under a new context that the unrequested changes should be reverted.

To avoid all of that, just co-author a markdown file with the model outlining all the expectations you have after a change has been made, before ever writing any code for the change. Use that markdown under a new context (once completed) to guide the initial prompt request. If the markdown is broad spanning then ensure you specify which part to focus on getting done during the current session but still show the model the full markdown to ensure you don't begin working in reverse.

Yeah, that's why we (unlike frankly insane Antigravity/Cursor/CLI users) only ask for work on fully and easily revertible git repos. Sometimes it makes good deletion decisions (like a big server.log you don't want in shipping containers, or one time test scripts which won't work anymore) but what I really hate is when it nukes maintenance comments because it doesn't understand them. Today it deleted the comment "TODO: eventually just SL" from a list of admin email addresses which kind of ticked me off.

I love how thorough testing is compared to Codex Web. It always curls its own devserver to examine pertinent output on any code changes; for complex interactions it does Playwright! I never have time for that. And it uses vision to check CSS changes -- even refactoring -- with screenshots. Fix the response failures and a handful of cosmetic bugs, and we will truly be in the future.

Also the independent code review agent is fantastic compared to how Codex Web does it -- I am always running out of Codex code review quota way before I use up actual tasks, and they take two weeks to renew.

Yes sure, so I was working on a GitHub repo called SMDA, and I asked Jules to clone the Ghidra repository, locate some specific files, and try porting parts of that code into SMDA. I also generated a codemap URL using Devin and asked Jules to review it before proceeding. However, the task eventually got stuck.

My gut feeling is the resource allocation to Jules agents is in constant flux, and this in turn massively affects the output quality. Not sure if it is more hard resource limits or cost control, but I've noticed even when there isn't "an outage" being discussed here that multiple agents will start walking off cliffs and driving into walls concurrently. Conversely, if I start having a couple sessions knocking it out efficiently, the output is excellent and I can't even keep up with keeping the queues full with new tasks.

programming concepts and ideas go a lot further and if you don't understand something you can always ask the AI to explain it to you and learn to get better at asking for things you want, they'll write the code for you quite fast, understanding the output helps you verify what you want and don't want but you can always just ask for code reviews additionally

technically you could even get jules to automate building your app for you with github actions if you need it, but that depends on what you have (desktop/mobile app/website).

an example would be getting python projects to be packaged as a single binary by github so you can run it as an executable, this would happen every update so it can be a nightmare if it takes too long for github to finish the job and you constantly update your main branch
