I don't know why, but my generations have started to become higher quality. Maybe I am just learning how to do it? Anyways point being it has gotten better since this morning, and I have been switching between Veo 2 and Veo 3 a whole lot while making my short film.

Basically, here is how I do it.

Do I need character specific dialouge? Veo 3 if yes.

Is it a new scene? Veo 3 if yes.

If I do not need specific character to speak, I use Elevenlabs for narration

If I do not have a new scene, I take a screenshot of the last frame, or second to last, and put that as the frame.

If I need character dialouge, I use Veo 3, and use text to video. But I use Gemini 2.5 pro to explain in extreme detail the scene that just happened, and add "Do not generate the previous details, they were for context" and then write what I want it to do. This makes it vary slightly in exact details, but it is close enough.

I do not use frame to video in Veo 3, it makes it grainy, oversaturated, and there cannot be dialouge.

I hope this helps for anybody trying to figure out a strategy!

New strategy to improve your videos / short films!

This uses a lot of Veo 3, but also Veo 2 Quality mode

Characters:

Upload your image of characters to whisk, and copy and paste the character description into the top of the prompt for Veo 3, and it gets the character right most of the time.

Scenes:

Again, upload the description from Whisk into the prompt, and again most of the time it gets it right

Extending with Frame and Text to video:

Enter the previous clip you made into Gemini 2.5 pro and ask for a super detailed description of what happened. Then, pass your characters and scene through whisk, like screenshots, then put those into the top of the prompt. Then write "The information above is details of what just happened, do not generate that" and then describe what you want, and then attach a screenshot from your previous clip

Dialogue:

If you need character specific dialogue, use Veo 3 and the extending frames, if you do not, use Veo 2 on quality mode and use Elevenlabs to generate the narrator voice.
Be specific in what tone and enflection you want the character to speak in. Phrases like "The teacher is depressed" will make the teacher speak in a more lonesome tone, and make it sadder

General Tips

If you want a montage, use Veo 2 quality with just the starting frame and a text prompt, and use Suno or MusicFX to generate a backing track, or find one.
If you need to go from one scene to the next, I recommend not using the start frame end frame, instead, use Veo 3 with the start frame, not with the trick above, but rather with your characters at the top only, and the screenshot of the last frame, and then guide the model to do something like "The doctor runs into the examination room" Then completely "clear the context" by putting in a scene description, and your character, and then what they do.
"Hollywood film quality" makes it a lot better.
Saying "They talk about [subject]" reduces or eliminates subtitles from videos.

Hey Rice! You can try using the SceneBuilder its custom built to extend with more than just the last frame! Hover over the clip and press "add to scene" from there you can press extend and type what you want to happen next!

In SceneBuilder, use "Save as Frame as asset" , make sure the slider is moved all the way to the end

In scene builder, if you start with a frame then it defaults to veo2 (even in Ultra subscription) and audio is not generated. Or am I missing something? This is really painful in its current limitation.

When using "jump to" in Flow with Veo 3 to essentially extend the shot, I am sometimes not getting audio generated? Since it is technically using frames to do this, does that mean the audio can't be generated for any but the first clip with Veo 3? Is there a different way to achieve this? I was testing out Veo 3 and kept getting an error and flow did not want to generate the video. I added a photo of a girl and said generate a video of the girl walking in the woods talking about how she was having a good day. I would get to about 75% and then get an error saying it could not generate and maybe the prompt was not allowed per guidelines. Just curious if anyone successfully got a photo of an individual and animated the person.
