Would love this. Vanilla flashlights having a low capacity makes them finicky to use by turning them on and off constantly to preserve battery, this would be a nice variation with its own perks and drawbacks.

I would say that it uses stamina to charge it, right? So if your cranked light runs out of power while you’re deep inside, being chased around… Well, that’s a danger.

It could take time. Like the circle progress bar you get when interacting with a door. Maybe make it where it takes some time, you can't move, and if you cancel it to do something else you have to redo the process. Just spitballing ideas though.

In addition to using stamina, there could be a small radial bar above the slot the flashlight is in, filled in depending on its rotation

You spam R while holding the crank flashlight to spin the radial bar, and each full rotation charges the flashlight

R is basically just the reloading hotkey, so why not spam R to spin it?

Idea for the downside: the battery doesn't have to be very long since you can crank it, and in my experience those kinds dont last long irl. so when you're carrying something twohanded it'll die on you

It's also possible to make this with configurable values so you can make the light as crippling as you want to be, and perhaps price it accordlingly too. Always good to let players tweak things how they like as long as it isn't overwhelming.
