#Skinwalkers-like mod using AI

that would be really cool
Someone else has a thread on this. There's a few potential issues: voice cloning people might be a bit legally dubious. You'd really need everyone to consent and installing a mod doesn't traditionally come with a user licensing agreement.
It's also a lot more involved process- if you are running it locally, your going to have to install several tools to make it work, and may cause issues on low end machines. If you want to use an external service, it's going to cost money, someone is going to have to pay for.
It's just a lot of hassle and questions for something that skinwalker really does like 80% of already.
I guess here's a counter idea: skip the ai voice cloning, but if you could use a voice to text transcriber- usually a lot smaller, to identity what people say in game, and have it look for specific keywords "open" "help" "come here" etc, and only used phrases containing those- it would make skinwalket even more effective, not require as much tech stack.
Good idea didn't think of the legal questionability but yeah that substitute is better
Also, i'm not sure if skinwalkers saves soundbites between games.- if not, it should within certain limits. I'm pretty sure that LC has to be able to tell who is speaking - it has to for proximity right? so it could tag files with usernames- so it could make sure to reuse quotes from people you've seen before n a previous gaming session. i don't think i've caught it reusing audio from days before yet - so maybe it does and i just haven't noticted
If this was a feature I would just stand in the ship saying stuff like "dang there is so much loot" and "hello can you help I'm lost" and "balls"
Could make the AI not resemble anyone's voice, instead being a generic, randomly generated voice
And you can opt to give it your own voice which it will use if it can
But like no one would fall for it
