i finally got UnityExplorer to work for me, and i was messing around looking for the stage lighting matty mentioned to me a while ago.
i started to figure out how to change the positioning of each stage light, and while i havent fully wrapped my head around it yet it is promising

if i can get more familiar with changing the lighting (and figure out how to increase the resolution or camera position, because it wouldn't let me do those), i will be able to improve various icons that currently have poor lighting or are very zoomed out
camera position cannot be changed as it get's computed live
if an item is too zoomed out there is probably some mesh that extends that far
yeah a lot of items have some invisible thing that makes it technically very large (*cough* wesley child's drawings)
does that mean you couldn't zoom the camera in on some items like this?
unless you manually trigger the Stage functions the framing cannot be changed, only the rotation

well at least being able to increase the resolution could be a workaround for that so it should be fine

those are all the Layers that will count for the framing. if you have invisible meshes please put them on a different layer π

the tongue scrap is dropped upside down
as you can see there's like a ridge when the tongue is drooping down in your hand
the same ridge is visible when the tongue is dropped
i noticed that ridge recently but didnt know it dropped upside down, thank you zeekerss
you could just flip it over but maybe zeekerss did this because the gravity would look weird if the tongue was right side up

i ran into an issue with me not being able to see any scrap icons on the radar at all
it must be an incompatibility with some other mod i have but idk i didn't thoroughly check, disabling that did work for me though
fyk, from v1.1.36 of MattyFixes ( currently in experimental ) the item names in config will likely change to accomodate for DawnLib support
and rotate_on_spawn?
i thought that would make it so the item rotations i gave didn't apply to naturally spawned items until i picked them up and dropped them again, but it didn't do anything

the worst part of a new config update is having to manually move individual items* over to my 6 profiles with matty fixes

one my moon mods for whatever reason
has copies of the vanilla scrap registered
which seems to break the chain of set icons somehow

I noticed the issue popped up when multiple of the same items were being found by imperium
no issue with icons when its just the vanilla one
but when others popped up is when the rotations wouldnt apply

there's also the standalone version which doesnt require LLL and is grouped under "Unknown/"

anyways these mods are deprecated since terraformer9x disappeared from the community (both servers) some months ago
but they do still function in v73

also apparently the reason gorgonzola and sorrow icons dont work is because i forgot the individual moon paths
because for some reason if you have 2 mods by the same person they get a different path than if you have only 1
so gorgonzola by itself has items with the path LethalLevelLoader/130 Gorgonzola/[item]
whereas if i have gorgonzola and sorrow then they both use the path LethalLevelLoader/NikkisMod/[item]
interesting that this one has an item that is not included in terras scrap, the golden bolt
it does sort of suck that it's in the unknown path because with fairly generic item names it's a bit more likely they would conflict with other items from like a dawnlib mod

i'm very surprised it has taken this long to happen (this is something i had worried about back when i first was doing coderebirth items), but it is the walking canes from UsualScrap and CodeRebirth
hopefully there aren't many more conflicts but i guess i'll see. nothing i can do about it until runtimeicons gets dawnlib support

encountered a new odd issue. i was doing LethalMin items and just could not for the life of me get this image to apply to the Glow Seed. quadruple-checked that i didnt make any typos in the json/file path and it's all fine. i've come to the conclusion that this specific image file is just haunted because i tried renaming it and applying it to other items but it still wont work there
nevermind. it's because i didnt fucking downscale it to 256x256 i'm just a moron
only condition for override images is them being square. you can have a 4kx4k image if you so want π¨

i encountered an issue yesterday playing with cookie and alex
apparently there is a (random?) possibility that the dine gore scrap can have flies on the icon
im not sure if it's related to item spawn order, or the order in which you pick up the scrap items
but i wound up encountering a day where every hand item had flies in its inventory icon
and i had to manually refresh with runtime icons to fix it
since the current design principle seems to be "display the default appearance for an item" i feel like this is an issue
im not sure if there's a way for you to get around that without just pre-rendering the icons, or maybe pre-rendering the icons is a satisfactory solution for you, idk
but i do think it makes sense to change

I just realized, i'm not sure why i never gave the laser pointer a consistent angle with other flashlight items
This is what that would look like, thoughts? (i might want to angle the laser pointer closer to the front so more of its light is visible, but this was just an initial test)

I mean there are a fair number of honee icons that are already "outdated" in the rotations they were based off of - airhorn, hairdryer, hair brush, ribcage, big bolt have all notably been changed in base BR since then
not all of them followed the original rotation anyways though, such as the yield sign, masks, and hand
I think it would be nice for some of these to be brought more up to date though, as the "outdated" ones are less of honee's artistic choices and more of mistakes made on my part.

the easter egg had been irking me for a little while because it previously felt weird how it was so perfectly vertical
so now it's actually been made to be more similar to how honee drew it, i like it quite a lot

So I can have it say "debbicar" instead of "debit_card_debit"

the last you've shared has jetpack at 70,-90,0 which makes it drop weird after v81 changed it
just changing it to 0,-90,0 and giving it a manual vertical offset of 0.02 seems to be good

I just realized, this mod supports the Golden bolt from my Black Label Core thing?
You might wanna remove that since that mod is more than just something that adds scrap, plus it's pretty outdated at this point >>
i only added that because buttery used it lol, plus there's no harm in keeping it unless literally nobody uses it
or unless it conflicted with some other golden bolt with the same path, but that seems to not be the case quite yet

Yeah, the mod was made at a time where I was dissatisfied with LethalQuantities and wanted a mod that just changed stuff to the spawn rates I want.
It did also give me the bit of freedom to do stuff like interior dependent spawn lists.
But of course, people will install it and not really think better of it.
