deploying a ladder underneath a spike trap will cause the ladder to deploy and brace itself against the spike trap, making it to creak,wobble and groan instead of smashing down.

The ladder will not retract while it is doing this, but theres a (configurable) 3% chance for the ladder to loudly collapse everytime the spikeplate tries to trigger.

Thumpers can probably smash into the ladder by accident, knocking the ladder over

... and lootbugs will probably try to pick it up, like they do with most items.

I actually This. Like REALLY like this especially for areas where it might be impossible to get past it in normal generation.
