you could make the texture appear on solar flare with one of the JLL weather scripts iirc
it's fine, i did activate the SunTexture and deactivated the MeshRenderer and it seems to work

pretty sure by disabling suntexture you're also breaking a part of the daytime animation

- Made the sky a bit brighter early on during the day
- Tweaked the fog and added a bit more fog to the bottom of the pit

i ended up changing it to another ambience that did fit better (but thanks to your suggestion i also fixed row's problem with a certain audio)

- Lowered the volume from the pipes
- Lowered the max particles that come out from the pipes
- Removed the particle collission from the one pipe that had them
- Instanced some textures/materials that were used repeatedly
- Fixed the pipes and thunder event to be on host call only instead of on all clients (Thank you @stiff imp)
- Fixed the textures on the walls, now it looks a bit nicer (Thanks Jacob (again))
- Reduced the time between pipe events to take into account that change
- Reduced the time between thunder events to take into account that change too.
- Optimized size a bit
- Optimized lights render distance
now lingering problem: there's a reverbtrigger that spawns under the ship that is exactly where some terrain is, becoming laggy when walking there. Since it's not in the scene itself i can't deactivate it temporarily while the ship's on the moon without code (i can't do that)
so in the meantime i recommend ReverbTriggerFix (https://thunderstore.io/c/lethal-company/p/JacobG5/ReverbTriggerFix/) with the experimental option enabled as a half assed fix to that problem
i'll... uh... ask around if someone nice and beautiful help me make some custom code for kiln so it does the deactivation thingy hehe

I decided to check out Kiln, as I would like a volcano moon for my modpack but previously have not found one that scratches my itch. I think this moon is very well-done!
I like its vertical design with split paths, I like its general aesthetic, and I like the steam pipe gimmick. I usually am not a big fan of gimmicks, and dislike a lot of the ones on Wesley’s moons, but I think Kiln is an example of a good gimmick alongside Deadlock and Harbringer.
If I were to suggest improvements I have two in mind. The first is more of a fix, which is that the ladder on the pipes (below the front of the ship) has odd player positioning when climbing it, I would love to see that fixed. The second is that the pipe obstacle in front of the Fire Exit staircase should be raised slightly so you can crouch under it, it is just barely too short right now.
This moon is up there with DemonMae’s Praetor as the best volcano moon imo, and I was hoping to have a non-DemonMae moon for this too. If I can make room in my modpack for Kiln I will make sure to add it! One more thing, I do not know what the golden fish thing is all about, what is that?

i'll look into the issues you said, the weird positioning on the ladder is mainly because it is a bit tilted (and the game hate tilted ladders)
the other might be tricky since all the pipes are connected to each other, rising it a bit is going to be a bit complicated but i'll see what i can do
about the gimmick, i kinda treat it as its own "outside enemy" (since kiln does not spawn any)
I would honestly prefer if the ladders were vertically mounted to the rock face like in vanilla, it gives aesthetic consistency

I thought that the pipe that runs beside the ship would lead somewhere. If you wanted to expand the moon at all, making that pipe lead to a small path with a second Fire Exit would be interesting

Large mountain where to get to the entrance its almost like climbing Everest
favoring the cruiser but would be viable on foot, imagining its more about the journey than the destination, having a small interior with smaller bits of precious loot but with the path there and back being treacherous. the idea would end with the facility being above the clouds with under the clouds being a dark and rough snowstorm but once you hit the peak its sunny as you are above the storm, being able to look out upon the vast amount of clouds (this paragraph is old so this is kinda like ascention but a MUCH larger scale)

Only thing that bothers me is not being able to crouch under that pipe I mentioned. Also, being able to climb the ladders with 2-handed items is jarring, I personally would just have a path to the ship other than the ladders. You actually could use that pipe next to the ship I mentioned, changing it to snake along the rock face such that you can parkour on it to the ship (like Beanie’s Storage Complex interior if you played that)
I actually like this idea for the pipe more than the second Fire Exit

You know that reverb trigger under the ship, the one that determines when you jump out of the ship while taking off

And lucky me, it coincides with parts of the terrain in kiln, so walking there makes the FPS go brr
If only that reverb could be deactivated while landed and reactivated on take off it would be godsent

i feel annoying recommending this as a method since its just gonna sound like im shilling dawnlib but you could edit the landing animation to turn off that trigger and edit the leaving animation to turn it back on

paco might also look into the landing and leaving stuff but idk if he wants to, but its a possibility
iirc batby's issue with it was that he believed the patcher incorrectly exports the animation for the ships stuff so anyone replacing the animation would have a faulty animation

yeah exactly, honestly the ideal script is written a bit different where its not hardcoded and you can choose whether to disable or enable it but that's also just a minute of writing code at most, it's preferrably bundled within something like JLL or Itolib since they already handle that stuff, im sure someone will get around to it when they can
oh also this is how i grabbed the actual string path, when you click on an object it tells you at the bottom of the hierarchy
there's also this option i have to copy hierarchy when i right click a gameobject, but i've never seen anyone else have it so i dont know where i got it from

I'm going (to try) to stop making pack updates for just 1 moon unless I deem the update absolutely necessary and instead update 2 or more at the same time when I encounter small bugs or tweaks for moons.

did a bit of a rebalance to Nostalgia (i still think that it's a bit overtuned but i'll keep an eye on it) + other changes:
⦁ Optimized the volumetric clouds
⦁ Fixed sudden low FPS after 3PM
⦁ Changed the skies to a gradient-base one (yes, again)
⦁ Changed fog values
⦁ Reduced a bit the size
⦁ Tweaked the sun's color to not resemble an error texture
⦁ Fixed the interiors being lit up when a gradient sky was in place
⦁ Rebalanced the interior loot weight/dungeon size/power numbers (it was a bit too profitable)
⦁ For that: Increased the difficulty rating from C- to C

ok so i have the concept of 2 moons in the work and the early ideas for a Taldor rework to get it in line with the newer maps

but as I have probably said before it's not really a priority until I get my hands on progression or I finish the moons I have in mind
So it's going to be a while before that
Thought I may leave old taldor in the old saga for people that like the current one (And rename it something similar) but probably won't have an standalone
