heres some reference images while i patch the project
gonna try and get the areas as 1:1 to the source as possible, but expect changes to be made incase things need to be adjusted to fit LC

I remember watching madoka ages ago and while I have my issues with the show I will say some of the visuals/environments (esp around the witches) were cool as fuck so having all that in lethal will probably be one hell of an experience

So it's being spliced up like a Yume Nikki dream world. Nice. I see different whimsical themes all at once. Arts & Crafts with fruit scattered about, Trippy flooring with sweets on hooks, bottled treats, etc.

(HEAVY madoka magica spoilers in this message be warned) ||Considering the labyrinth is a reflection of the mental state of a magical girl who fell to despair and probably had a massive sweet tooth prior to the fact (or maybe the sweets were part of why that happened) there's probs a bunch more stuff you could do with that info||

Her mother was ill and she was planning to wish to cure her illness, but she was abusive to her to the point that he tells her that having given birth to her is the reason for her problems, so instead she wished to give her a cheesecake. She doesn't even like cheese, but it symbolized the love she wished she had received from his mother, and wanted to use it give her mother that love. But then her mother was killed by The Sleepingwalking Ghost and never received her cheesecake, so she sold her soul for nothing. When she became Charlotte, she was surrounded by all kind of sweets but no cheese, symbolizing that she never got the love that she wanted. It is implied that she also mistook Mami's hair for cheese.||

loot circles? as in just how does loot generate?
Yeah. The main issue I've seen /w all custom interiors is poor loot circles, but if it's good enough to where you'll consistently find a decent chunk of scrap throughout the day (Like the Factory, Manor, and Mineshaft), then its tiles sizes shouldn't be an issue
technically interiors dont have any affect on loot spawns at all, what i assume is happening is 2 things:
- loot is either spawning in impossible to reach spaces, or hard to spot spaces making it feel like theres less loot
- tiles are larger making the overall pool spread out further
the tiles here are... relatively normal sized i would say?
theres no particular "loot rooms" so it wont feel like you stumble upon a room of 10 items after 30 rooms of nothing, which depending on the person is a good or bad thing

Well interiors don't decide what enemies spawn when you make a moon however then you can decide what enemies spawn in LETHAL

All I'm saying is that if you're gonna have custom enemies have them mixed in with vanilla monsters too since moons with only custom enemies tend to glitch or break

im just gonna do the same as my other interior where each moon the interior spawns on it adds the custom enemy weights

It's also fine to make the ship land somewhere in the city and have the rift to the labyrinth close by and have no monster spawning aside from maybe the harmless ones, would be more lore accurate but I feel it's a bit "meh" gameplay wise

the more i think about it it would just be a city and thats about it
could be more fun/interesting as "part of the labyrinth" instead

My best advice would be to go for a light and colorful mood for the moon and very eerie for the interior

but theyre small and you dont really get a good angle on it to make it super obviosu they are

yeah, when youre actively walking around it and looking at it it becomes jank
the more i work with stuff like this the more i appreciate the original work and how they set things up
theres sparkles around the ceiling that sparkle
and the way they did it was pretty clever
its controlled by an animation that just adjusts the texture offset
instead of having mutliple sprites and swapping them it just says hey, look at a different section of the same sprite
fun way to learn creative ways to do different things, just look through how other people do things and analyze their methods/tricks
the models are also mapped quite well for the interior, i can put all kinds of different textures on the walls and itll tile well

the diff textures arent even made to be on walls either, its just mapped in a way to where it works

only enemies I see being a lil annoying with the tight corridoors in the interior are hygroderes and maybe maneaters once they get big
I'm not sure how they choose their target, but they'd just catch you off guard while you're trying to outrun a levi

reason this happened is i forgot to set the tile that enters that section fo the labyrinth to only spawn later in the generation
and i set the entry tile to that area to only spawn once, so it just entered right away and never exited

How feature complete do y'all want the mod before it's first release? Currently tiles are in and fully functional, only scrap is the one plushie, and no custom enemies
I plan on adding those weapons, more scrap, more tiles, and lots of little cool things but do y'all want an initial release out soon with what is currently done?
ill also likely be releasing a madoka models mod to play it with using the PSVita models
a release with the interior and one scrap would be good enough, like that we could give you more feedback on how the mod's doing in games
Up to you, I personally prefer to try out more fleshed out mods, but it's also nice to beta test and go bug hunting as well XD

speaking of worms, the sand worms seem to be broken on the exterior and after some research it might be because of the floor layer
i set it to puddle to match the fact its basically like a cream youre walking on, but i think the sand worms get confused and dont attack because of it
so adding another collider right below with a different layer to see if that helps them figure it out

gah DAMN who turned the fog up (i reduced it a bit)
in order to make flooded actually slow you down i had to change the tag of the ground to snow, so now it sounds a little off but flooded works and you make footprints in the cream floor

how generic and wesley do it is they put a trigger on the front door that activates it
like a 10% chance of it to happen and it rolls the chance once per day

didn't have those issues with the weather or the store for now, I should have a multiplayer run tonight or tomorrow so I'll be on the lookout for weirdstuff happening
for the quota and day left doing weird stuff it can happen when the moon timer don't have the default value
one of the moons I use had a 0.75 day speed multiplier and it usually caused 2 days to pass on one shift. changing the value or using the moon day speed patcher can solve the issue
However this moon has the default value so it might be something else

also dustclouds is a vanilla weather (doing nothing aside from some very light dust clouds, thx captain obvious, think of harmless foggy) and isn't shown on the terminal unless you use a mod like weather registry

The item on the moon was received warmly by my now former friends 🤣
The only issue that nothing can be done about is that you must be inside the ship when leaving, otherwise the ceiling/wall will push you 🥲
And a small review from the buddies, the interior feel a bit empty, especially the main entrance area, interior way too big and not many scraps to be found (could just be bad luck), and there are barely any items in the second area (where you can fall), the turrets are the biggest threat there, you can barely see them and they can take you down from very far.
Two times we had items spawning out of reach in one of the corner of the room with all the flying bottles.
Just to give the first impressions, and yes I told them it was work in progress afterwards, telling it was from the same person who did Tartarus was enough to reach a general "must try again"

and hopefully fix that clipping issue when landing
turns out i wasnt even using dungenplus in the mod this whole time, now the generation is different by having 2 main paths
the tilesets themselves are still pretty basic, this will be improved over time
turrets no longer spawn in spotted area, fixed the navmesh issues in spotted + bottles room
increased overall scrap slightly, turns out its was a little bit under dine/rend, now its just barely under
ill likely also add another fire exit before this update is out, somewhere up high

textures are.. well, the scuffed part lol
theyre just drawn by me in photoshop
but due to the low resolution and ingame filters they dont look too noticable
its also meant to be a plush anyways so they look fine
i really didnt want to rely on my "modeling skills" tho 😭 im trying to make a new tile with a pit in the middle but i got these weird stretches on the walls cuz idk what im doing

im trying out having only room tiles on cream area, no hallways
cone will be more hallway forcused and cream is lots of whole rooms
i wanna try and make it feel less impossible to navigate, and make each area feel a little more different
one of the main problems with navigating is its hard to make mental notes of where you are without landmarks of sorts
vanilla interiors you can make a mental note "ah yea that direction is the apparatus room, the other way is that huge room, and past that is the server room"
here a lot of tiles are just "uhhh that way is a hallway, the other way is a hallway, past that is a splitting hallway that goes into two hallways"
this is a landmark though, you can mentally point that out from other rooms
this hallway now has a chance for each direction to become a pit (each direction individually is a 50/50)
yes they can be traversed while holding some heavy stuff
and yes you can just walk right through the walls because i forgot to add colliders like a silly
Since you are using assets from an old game it's understandable
But adding more rooms/pits and stuff to get more variety like you are doing now is really good, both from the fun value while playing and having an easir time knowing where to go next and/or go back

about 10
there was 2 areas, the waffle cone like area, and the spotted area
the spotted area originally had a different skybox but with this tile system it would look weird
so i opted for what looks like endless void
the only internal objects that differentiated the tiles were those little props here and there
and there was overall less tiles
(makes sense cuz youll only be in there for like 10 minutes anyways)
i cant really use assets from the other stages either as theyre just far too different
etc
tbf dungeon crawler games don't have very varied layouts in general, sometimes there are interesting gimmicks or big rooms tho
and yeah the other ones don't work for charlotte's labyrinth for sure x_x
gonna do some more testing with QB to see if i can get him working tomorrow
