and even when i'm using the version-55 cruiser which has an ejecto seat, i park at main anyways
i think people didn't use the hauler because of its unwieldy physics

i don't really know what additional gimmicks i can add to the hauler would be, it's just a late 2000s GM Chevy truck, they weren't really packed with features from factory

To keep it alive, price is my only issue. A starter vehicle should be durable, but a expensive vehicle should be treated carefully bc of the features

it had super nasty tendancies to fly into random directions and kill you for no reason

in fairness cruiser is viable for assurance fire exit
it is faster to use the eject button and you can drop stuff straight on to the roof
i think it is "unnecessary" but definitely not useless
cruiser is absolutely good for offense though
because of the eject tech
i park the truck at main on offense anyways
and if i use my truck i have no choice hehe
i like using cruiser at offense main too but it is still one of the best ways to cycle in and out of the fire exit
and the geometry of the fire exit makes it easy to park in a spot where you can eject upwards to it and also drop stuff on the roof without moving the car
anyways i do think the lack of ejector seat impacts possible viability but the hauler's other bonuses can help in other situations
my scanvan has no ejector either :3
and also i just think it is aesthetically really cool so i dont think it is a massive deal
but that's for a good reason
(the middle passenger seat eats up the center console, so the shifter goes on the dashboard, in place of the button)

Honestly remote magnet trigger might be valuable, ive done hundreds of artifice runs with my friends and someone forgetting to turn it back on sometimes causes disaster
I did originally plan on doing a built in CB radio but i realized it was useless because you can just crouch in a seat with a radio item
the super horn is super useful for baiting dogs from across the map which helps justify the price imo but it is difficult to communicate to the player that thats what it does
...but when you're sat down, you don't want to have to get out and then crouch in the seat and then use the CB

I did toy around with the idea of a blue variant of my Scanvan ages ago, but it never looked right to me
There's two variants of my Scanvan, one is red (normal one) and there is a special/rare/fun gimmick variant which I haven't showed here

It would, but it would most likely be preset colours, and having to bundle a bunch of different 4k textures with different colours would bloat the file size
For the Hauler, id have to bodge the texture as I don't have the original pdns
For the Scanvan, since I redid the texture, I do have the original pdn
Colour is just one of those things that is hard for me to get something that looks right, like on the Scanvan for example
The primary colour is a slightly more faded red than the normal CC
i guess you could try the “its a white texture and you have a color picker” option
and set the default color picker color to how you want it
that way people can use any color without bloating size

Currently toying around with LethalElements compat, so far I've added "zones" to the truck, that being:
On top
In the cab
In the back
I'm hoping the code I wrote for them is reliable/consistent enough (Using OnTriggerStay on an interval check, and OnTriggerExit, with some cheap fallbacks)
Anyways, right now, so long as the engine is running (so the cabin fan is turned on) and you're in the cab with the doors and windows shut, you can cool down and not be impacted by the heatwave
This is still a WIP, I also plan on compat for blizzard, if everything goes according to plan
The fan will probably become a toggleable thing rather than being tied to the ignition, as I would also like to add a functional heater system to the truck
Or I could make the fan turn off if the heater is on, and vise versa, that would be simpler, we'll see though lol

The Chrysler voice alert doesn't have any alerts for the heater/ac, and I don't get why the car would randomly just say "Air conditioning" for no reason, that's stupid

It could tell you to close certain doors/the trunk, it can tell you when the engine was low on oil, oil pressure, engine coolant low, when the engine was overheating/temp above normal, transmission fluid low, fuel level low, the charging system not working properly, brake fluid level low, it can tell you when the brake disc pads are wearing low, washer fluid being low + rear washer fluid low, it can tell you to check operation of the headlamps, taillamps, brake lamps, it can tell you the parking brake being on if you try to drive with it on, it can remind you the keys are left in the ignition and it can remind you that you left the headlamps on, it can remind you to put your seatbelt on, and finally it can say "Thank you" for the user complying, and if everything is working properly upon startup it'll say "All monitored systems are functioning"

If you switch it to cold, for some reason you immediately freeze up, rather than a gradual freezing, so I need to look into that

I do need to fix not gaining coldness while in the truck with the heater off, but that should be easy
For reference, if the on screen inCold is true, you'll notice normTemp drop into the negatives, this is the player getting colder, otherwise, it goes up to about 0 and stays around there (yes the number freaks out, no this isn't an issue afaik and neither is it something I caused)
maybe i'll add this to some degree, but it'll just be a basic "how long since the heater was turned on/how long was the heater run for" type thing

Just tweaking the heater right now, adding in cold exposure multipliers that are based on what like, windows are open, and they can reduce the effectiveness of the heater
Well, that's the idea anyways, I think for the doors I'll just make the heater have no effect
New issue, need to fix getting cold even if the vehicle is under shelter and you're in the truck with a door open

Okay, fixed some issues with having doors open/etc when the vehicle is under a building and a player would be classed as "sheltered" although having the doors shut and blower on cold will freeze you up ofc
You will no longer freeze while in a vehicle that's under shelter (as long as the player would usually be classed as sheltered in that building) even with the heater off
Some slight alterations are required but it's "mostly working"
so if the doors are closed and the blower is on cold without heater (on a snowy moon? idk) you just get snowgraved

So I don't actually think Snowfall has the same temperature mechanics as Blizzard, but it appears you can still give yourself frostbite by turning the blower to full cold, lol, fun
Next thing I need to figure out with LET is whether I can add my weather blocker objects to snow drops, so snow doesn't leak into the cab/rear compartment

I think for now I'm going to just look past the "snow leaking into cabin" since I'm not too familiar with visual effects, and from what I can tell, the best way would just be disabling particles in the cab, which I'm not too keen on doing

that would just be a collider issue assuming pacoo's particles have collisions
its possible his particles dont take into account whatever you are using as the roof for the scanvanits

Oke, going to flesh out the heatwave heater stuff now, the Blizzard functionality is pretty complete and I'm happy with how it works, and I think I ironed out any issues with it

Had to get a little creative, but the heatwave heater stuff is "mostly working"
I had to patch the SetPlayerTemperature method instead for the most part to change the heat transfer rate
Only if the Heatwave is active though, and you're in my truck
This also now means the heater speed does have an effect during heatwave
And you can cook yourself alive on full heat full fan speed

oh, and I added a config for streamer friendly radio music, and enabling this disables the live radio system

I've also realised just how much the file size becomes bloated from radio music, so I'm going to look into reducing that at some point

trying out the hauler with the new wheel colliders, also experimenting with a smoother steering system (still manual recentering) i actually kinda dig it
the truck is also rear wheel drive, but it's still kinda capable, and with this, it also feels less like a vanilla cruiser
not sure how the player animations are going to play with this steering but, we'll see
i was expecting him to just start flying into the sky like a plane taking off

regarding the scanvans radio, mainly for the sake of file size, i think i'm going to bite the bullet and make the music copyright free by default, however the original config to disable it will work as it did before, but if the user has no custom music installed then the screen will display "NO CD" (this config also unlocks the live radio system)

also fixed some further issues with the radio, primarily when switching radio type back and forth

yup! you can also enable "automatic shifting" like most arcade racing games
by that i mean, pressing W goes forward, S goes backwards
rather than W just being the gas and S always being the brake pedal

resulting in "my wheel is angled 190 degrees to the right but my car is going straight"

both cruiserimproved and bettervehiclecontrols have an identical "fix" but cruiserimproved also syncs the position of the wheel for clients if they also have cruiserimproved installed
since it's also desynced in multiplayer

i'm just saying they both apply an identical fix but it doesn't hurt using them together

we tested a bit with it, and uhm 60 fps loss from what's been reported on the boys' modpack
my truck has 1 extra mirror, but zaggy helped me make a bunch of performance optimisations to them
the hauler has no optimisations, and they're extremely laggy
i mean sure they run at a reduced framerate and this and that but i think they're "fine"
just turn the mirrors off in the config for now
