unrelated but i reimplemented the ejector seat for both left hand drive and right hand drive v55 cars, i also tweaked the tyre grip so it doesn't feel like it's on ice and feels more like v55, the difference is very noticeable, it also feels more responsive like it should
god implementing rhd on my scanvan will be a nightmare

i might just make the scanvan always right hand drive
i guess that could be a second fun gimmick alongside EVA

fun fact for a while the v55 car was a seperate vehicle when i was making it (before i got round to making it a replacement) and its display name was "Worse Cruiser" and the keyword to buy it was "badvan"

as of v70, in the complete mess of a state and weird position that it's in, it should be way way more expensive
i think you could remove the damage system from the truck and it wouldn't be that much different from the v70 buff
that's how much of a tank it is right now
on the version-55 car, now if you simply are standing in the seat (don't have to be sat down in it) you can be ejected
appears like RadioBrowser might of shit the bed, unless it's an intermittent temporary server issue
RadioFurniture seems to either sometimes work or throws a nasty stack trace error
my truck seems to just always throw a stack trace error

turned out the original code never even checked if any of the 3 servers were good, and it was defaulting to a server that was down most of the time

i've significantly improved giant protection (at the cost of the truck becoming less compatible with multiple vehicles spawned at the same time at any given time, which is fine i guess, since i doubt it'll be a fleshed out thing) and i also fixed being immune standing on the cruiser while the back door is shut
if the cruiser is also flipped over you should also be protected in the back, unlike in vanilla
as long as the doors shut anyways

i could not tell you why this happens, only when it happens, which is when you start descending
When it starts descending it destroys map objects, one of the recent updates was to exclude specific objects that are needed for v70's radar map which would cause error spam. If it destroys your truck when descending my best guess is that it's finding something that needs to be destroyed in your truck's hierarchy?

my shock when i ascended and found my truck on fire and in the water
i wanted to see what was going on

In that case I don't believe it to be a true transformation
Because of the round-the-clock nature of the map it will have to despawn enemies at some point
And it's possible it registers outside hazards as enemies
(In which case it might be a good idea to have a list of objects it cannot destroy when turning over the day)

because not only would you need to put all the work into the gun, but then you've got to do all the vehicle up as well

yeah there's not really much of a point unless you introduce big enemies that you get value out of defeating with it
sure, something like my saab could also be argued as impractical and a little unneeded, this and that, but unlike a jeep with a chaingun it would have:
room for 4 seated employees
an enclosed trunk for loot, maybe even with a roofrack for extra storage

i'm considering trying to rework how vehicle collisions that hurt the truck and people inside work on my truck, i'd like it to be more the speed difference when the truck hits something, because grazing a rock at 70 mph but losing like no speed shouldn't kill you instantly
found it especially annoying on maps like tauralis where you have to slow down to grandma speeds to go up the small bumps on some of the bridges, because the rear scrapes along the bridge slightly
i'd like to be able to just fly down a moon, like Tauralis, and not die from the loading step slightly touching the floor
idk i'll see, maybe i'll try a combination and see what i like best

on another note, i'm working on with the whole "speed difference" for determining whether to hurt the car and damage/kill players, just need to finetune it

just jumping back to this real quick since i played with CR the other night, clients seem to be unable to see big jim deliver a vehicle, they see the vehicle spawn in and it's perfectly usable, but they just don't see big jim

they also hear the ground rumble when ordering a vehicle, but nothing appears for them

it's way way way more fun to drive
so so SO much smoother
however, because of its large size, it does collide with way more terrain (esp on vanilla maps) but it can still be used on them if you so wish
from what my friends said it feels very different to drive
they said they're going to need time to get used to it hehe

basically, you can watch the tachometer go up and down as it cycles through the gears when driving
it's not just one gear in drive like the Cruiser

the cruiser in vanilla is an automatic
i think people muddle up the terms automatic transmission and manual transmission
a manual transmission requires you to row through all the forward gears manually using a clutch
an automatic is like park reverse neutral drive low two one etc
my truck is still an autobox, it'll row through gears automatically in drive
My car irl is manual so I don't actually know how automatic ones work tbh

my idea for nerfing was adding a force, in the direction that the user is jumping, aimed towards the truck
so if you boost up to the left, the truck will barrel roll to the left
instead of staying perfectly upright
it would allow for using the boost in a situation where it might be absolutely required (although i've been finding the lurch feature just enough from my playtesting with friends) but won't allow you to easily fly across the map
thats honestly a good idea
it helps you escape but at cost of flipping your cruiser and damaging it
well, if it's like a forward boost, or just an upward boost, it won't be as fatal
as rolling over
i was trying to think of a better idea for weedkiller than using it as "engine lubricant" and i think i have an idea forming in my head here
i think it'd be really funny if the truck had a "leaky washer fluid reservoir" and to keep it quiet you'd have to keep putting weedkiller in it

this mod got me thinking about there being a vehicle that'd be cheaper than the Cruiser and used more for traversal, something like an ATV that can only be occupied by 2 people or maybe even just the driver
but being restricted to only one vehicle since there's one magnet makes such a thing feel not worth it
regardless of what type of vehicles come to LC, with how the games built and due to the litany of mod incompats you'd get, you'd only ever really be allowed one vehicle spawned at a time

even something small like this, you'd only be allowed ONE car at a time
or even just an ATV, you'd only be allowed one vehicle, at a time
since certain functionality only works for one car
there's only really, one way right now, that you could own "multiple vehicles"

store one vehicle, then pluck one from a list of owned vehicle and it gets delivered by dropship at no cost

it works for the truck because it has a big flat storage compartment, but for any other vehicle with any curvature on its bodywork, it looks so weird

seems a little unneccessary to have two seperate trucks, virtually identical, but one has a different transmission
a manual transmission doesn't necessarily mean better acceleration, especially when compared to the current autobox on my truck
top speed maybe, since it's based on the gear ratios/final drive etc
but even right now, it can already comfortably cruise at high speeds
my trucks engine is pretty powerful

im glad that some vehicles finally comes to the game, since the hauler have been added,it really adds some fresh now way to screw around
the Hauler is dope, i really hope Train irons out some of the issues it has right now
the biggest one being the sunroof
it's causing all sorts of erratic behaviour with the trucks physics
making it borderline undrivable
there's also the issues it inherits from choosing to use vanilla CC code for alot of stuff, so i hope those could get worked out
you can use CI which irons out alot of the issues with the vanilla truck, which then transfer over to the hauler
but it's not the most ideal way
it's just an issue with one of the colliders, i know that much
causes the truck to do all manner of weird shit especially at high speed
other than that it's awesome

speaking of vehicles, i've been having some thoughts about my actual car, and what direction i'd like to take it (which is why i've been holding off working on it)
i'm not sure i want to use the Saab model, for specific reasons, so i've been thinking of doing something else
i've been envisioning a station wagon, something 80s, maybe 90s, american wagon, with 7-8 seats (2 bucket front or 3 row bench front, 3 row bench in the rear and 2 rear facing seats)
it would be heavy, slow, impractical (but practical in terms of amount of loot it can carry and the amount of people it can seat) and i just think it'd be fun to lug around

I'm currently trying to break up the vehicle animations into 3 layers (left arm, right arm and main body) and it's such a pain lmao

If it works, it should allow for alot more flexibility in my animations

just playing around with it in editor and it looks like it might work really nicely
i haven't animated the first person arms for the radio animation yet, but my layering looks like it's working nicely

i know replacing the animator is a risky thing to do but, in the case of stuff like vehicles, i don't think it'll cause many issues
the animations look like they're working pretty nicely, will just need to adjust some of the conditions on the left arm and then test in a multiplayer setting
and then i need to code the radio one in
testing in MP is the one i'm dreading, i hope it doesn't look horrible
First person animation, it looks a little funny (I might make the camera move to make it feel like the player is actually reaching over, like the full body animation)
just need to test in MP now
i also need to add a delay to toggling so it lines up more with the animation
but it's working!
i might also have to adjust the duration of the employee turning the dial
camera seems to shake a little when the players hand is moving the dial
yeah i know, it's because i was matching it to the players actual head model

had a chance to play with my group last night, i didn't realise i created the "Scandal's ⢠international vehicle space program" where if a host sits in a passenger seat, and a client gets in the drivers seat, then hops out, the truck very slowly flies into space for no reason
Other than that, everything seemed to work fine, including the radio animation, which was the one I was most worried about

Config maybe, YouTube I dont know, I know one mod adds YouTube support to the cruiser radio, but I feel like the live radio is plenty enough for this
i have noticed that lurching the truck forward can sometimes cause the left arm to "float" into the air slightly, but i'm unable to reproduce it consistently, i know the root, and it's caused by me splitting the animations up, but i'm just a little unsure on a solution for it other than just keep the jumping in truck 1 whole animation instead of split into 3 parts like the rest of the animations
it's like, a minor issue, but i would like to fix it if i can
for now i've just made the jumping in car animation 1 whole animation, it's one of the exceptions for the meantime and that's fine, it doesn't really need to be split anyways
i also adjusted some of the materials for the radio
made the slot for the cd and the display screen... ...stand out more..? have a much less dull black material

Same system as RadioFurniture (RadioBrowser API), it picks from a database of stations across the globe
The signal on screen isn't the actual frequency of the station, it's just a randomised number between a min frequency and a max frequency

i can't gaurantee that one station will work the next day

i'll play around with it, this is a really neat idea, i'd have it so you can have 8 presets
since y'know, there's 8 preset buttons

i wouldn't say it's sketchy, there's so many stations it can pickup so it's not easy for me to say X station worked one day then didn't another, but there is always the possibility
the worst case scenario is that it would just be stuck displaying PI SEEK with static noises, which is fine i guess

The Cruiser is a complete nightmare to use on any form of racetrack

i had thoughts about trying to make it driveable, and while it's a neat idea, this model just needs so much reworking to make it a fully fledged out vehicle, and i'd rather do up something else as a driveable car

vehicle hangar seems like it could possibly be suited to have vehicles work inside, although you would need to figure out how to make the vehicle reliably teleport inside/outside, and make it play nicely with indoor monsters n such (idk how well it plays with them rn)
