there were other companies that did something similar, but i think Chryslers was probably the more ""advanced"" implementation of it
as long as you aren't being like, an idiot with the truck, you generally won't hear alot of the messages haha
especially with the durability buff, it won't go critical so easily and play like 5 voice lines all universally telling you that you're fucked
if you're a really good driver, never leave the keys in the ignition before getting out, never leave the lights on before taking the key out, never leave doors open, etc, then the only message you'll ever really hear is
"ALL MONITORED SYSTEMS ARE FUNCTIONING" on startup
just going back to this, i would like to make the SAAB a manual transmission with clutch only, think that could be a fun "gimmick"
would also mean i can implement the "put gearstick in reverse to take the key out" hehe :)

my truck already has a gear system, but since it's an auto, the forward gears are shifted through automatically
the Cruiser doesn't have gears, it's just a 1:1 direct drive

fergandalion is the best cruiser moon imo
a nice amount of variation in terrain and it's pretty big
driving is almost non negotiable unless you bring multiple jetpacks
there's also some cool stuff
I tried it when it first released and there were some parts of the map I really didn’t like but they’ve probably changed by now judging from the screen shots

I just gotta make sure to disable random landings because I have found that causes issues on moons you’re required to drive on if you land on a tricky spot with problematic installed
I don’t drive the vanilla CC too often on account of it toppling really easy
I tend to just drive the hauler when I can
the vanilla CC is super stable
especially after v70
it got a self uprighting feature and passively tries to keep its self upright
I still have found a way to flip it almost everytime
even before that it had a super low center of mass
Tbf im not the greatest driver in video games
My favourite thing to do so far is drive in rainy weather with the hauler

my truck muffles out audio if you're underneath colliders that are layered under Vehicle, so rain gets muffled too

I feel like if zeekers were to add another vehicle to base game it would forsure be a quad bike

with the way zeekers code and does things he only makes it harder to add an extra vehicle if he wished to
although knowing zeekers he would also just hardcode it in instead of making a modular system

you can't just deflect that with saying "he's a solo dev", i'm not disregarding that
i do blame him, he's making his life unnecessarily harder

I was so surprised because it felt like it could of been for an entirely different game
Especially with how basically no moon base game really need a cruiser that much
but also with the way he codes certain things like enemy interaction with vehicles

that's why i buffed the durability to v70 levels lol
vanilla CC rear wheel
roughly in its normal position, but hidden so you can see the outline and the body
also it clips into the storage compartment lol
this doesn't cause any issues other than just being an annoying visual thing
then again the CC has a laundry list of issues with the model
Your truck makes up for it by having a snazzy side door and whatnot
The coolness balances it out

i first had to fix every, single, issues on the vanilla CC model

Jalopy is just too janky/buggy and Long Drive is too bare bones and linear
I want to try pacific drive, i don't know much about it otherwise

I find it very enjoyable to try to control the car with the added difficulty and finding ways of drifting or just driving it like a real one

even my truck, which uses alot of the original CC stuff as its basis (since it's based on the CC) has been a pain to work on at times
just to get things to behave properly takes so much fiddling and small adjustments
i literally just came outside the vow fire exit

anyways i fixed some animator transition stuff with the horn anim
does the truck actually have like, fuel and coolant and stuff or is that just like for flavor/immersion lol
they just light up on the dashboard if the car is under certain hp
or the corresponding voice lines
they also light up briefly when putting the key in (dashboard sweep) but that's more just an immersion thing

since you have to put weed killer in the engine to heal it
also, since this car is not replacing the original cruiser in the shop, will it cost more?

i think the way the weed killer item has been kind of orphaned from its original purpose is funny
it uses spray paint code lul
like it was originally added as a counter to the vain shrouds/kidnapper fox, while also having a secondary use as a lubricant type thing for the cruiser

i did add some things to my v55 car that were never in the base game to begin with
like the chance for it to spawn with the wheel on the other side
the v55 car also had grippier tyres

also, v55 never counted items as collected in the truck and the truck never blocked LOS
but i'm not implementing those on mine

i also got a bit of a hacky workaround to make old birds see you drive again on mine

kinda shows two things, but it was to show old birds being able to now see the truck
and locking onto it if people are driving it
right now in vanilla the truck has colliders that block los to old birds seeing you in the cab
i added a threat type to the truck and a visibility if people are in the seats
so old birds lock onto it
i think it's only fair and just makes sense
it 100% was not an intended feature for them not to see you
the second thing it shows is right hand drive lul
there's some other small things i added, like animating the vertical column buttons and giving them a sfx that was missing

honestly old bird rockets launching you out of the drivers seat is so frustrating but it makes sense
the whole goal with the v55 recreation was keep it as authentic as possible while fixing all the issues, whether code related or model related

the most viable system is one that would delete the previous vehicle (and store it) and spawn the one you want in
it probably wouldn't be hard to just pull the list of vehicles in the terminal and save them by ID numer

a vehicle has to be near the ship
you store it through the terminal
it just despawns

there's some disused code that basically never meets the conditions to work but putting the truck in park at speeds is supposed to damage it
however the conditions for this are like if enginerpm > 3000 and the cruiser would have to be going like 4x its max speed to reach this
the enginerpm on the cc code doesn't work like actual enginerpm
i altered these conditions on both my scanvan and v55 cruiser to work how i imagine zeekers intended it to
if you put it in park while it's going quick (and the wheels are grounded) it'll damage the car badly
also the biggest thing for me is that most the moons i play in are not even cruiser friendly
also the vanilla cc has some weird code, with similar conditions but even higher enginerpm, that is meant to damage the car if you're simply going fast in reverse lol
so even i f i wanted to learn i cant haha
