Hey folks! I'm probably a bit overdue with joining this server - but hey, better late than never.
With that in mind, here's a post for keeping track of all of my LC modding endeavours!

My Mods:

Sound rework for the Company's Autopilot Ship (Work In Progress)

The Jester's got a Glock in his Rari! Changes the Jester Sounds to 679 by Fetty Wap (Wind-up is a Music Box version)

Looking forward to posting various development announcements/updates, notes & and whatnot here.

Any feedback for my mods would be greatly appreciated - and suggestions/ideas are more than welcome, too!

In other news: I still need to fix the audio being too quiet now in Immersive Ship SFX...

Gonna head to bed now, but I'll probably try to fix it tomorrow by sitting in the ship again for 15 minutes whilst not doing anything, to see if the volume feels better then.

Happy to hear you're enjoying it. I did get around to increasing the volume of some of the muffled sounds just a tiny bit, since some of them were basically inaudible unless it was dead quiet.

[Immersive Ship SFX] Minor Patch 0.3.1

@ 2025-02-28

- [FIXED] Fixed my bad math on the sound percentages, because apparently I couldn't count to 100 last time.
- [CHANGED] Increased the volume of the muffled sounds slightly to mnake them more noticeable.

Decided to push my audio volume fix on its own. The planned new voicelines will be their own update, likely 0.4.0

So, I may end up shifting dependencies from LC Sound Tool & Custom Sounds over to Sound API

Undecided yet, but given one of my other WIP projects is a Facility Meltdown sound replacer using Sound API, and LCST still seems to have weird compatibility problems and [random false replacement bugs](#game-clips message), I'm starting to actually consider whether SAPI is the better and more future-proof alternative here, given its ties to Lethal Resonance which will probably be around for a looong time.

Shouldn't be a huge task to port my mods over, but will probably be a bit annoying for updating existing modpacks.

may or may not have, during my porting to sound api, added an option that recreates the buggy eyeless dog behaviour for Glock In My Jester

Also, adding two additional config options for GIMJ:

  • Config for toggling the Jester sound swap as a whole (in case you only want that eyeless dog thing for whatever reason?)
  • Config for Censoring, where instances of a certain racist word gets bleeped out in the song.
    • Enabled by default so the mod is hopefully more clip-friendly, but i know people tend to get divided over this so the option to set it to false and use the "raw" music like is the case with v1 still exists.
    • Also affects the eyeless dogs if that setting is enabled.
    • For an example, see #game-clips message where I manually did the bleeping in editing (which is how i got the idea in the first place). The ingame bleeping sounds basically identical to how it is in the video.

Right, got distracted with stuff, but I did start work on porting Immersive Ship SFX. If i have time tomorrow I'll work more on that.

I marked it as incompatible with LR because it essentially replaces the same stuff LR does (well, in the ship at least)

I know, whether or not that’s the case, a configuration option can be added to specifically disable LR sounds related to the ship to make room for yours🤷🏻‍♂️

That would be sweet - im also in the process of adding configs to toggle individual parts of my mod with sound API

Makes sense, I think as it stands, ship ambience and thrusters aren’t where they could be. With LR the net is so large, it’s difficult to get heart and soul quality not just in the actual sound itself, but the ideas behind how to really make each part more immersive

I love to see people trying to improve it, that’s why we’re huge on comparability too, whatever makes it a more immersive experience for everyone

Coming from KSP modding, the ship thruster sound for landing/takeoff was the first thing i replaced lol

I wish there was a way to play one sound on takeoff and another on landing

I had created one earlier on, but ironically during the soundapi changeover from customsounds it seems to have been lost/broken

I didnt look too closely into soundapi's conditions yet, maybe i can make it work somehow based on time

Conditional sounds was one of the biggest focuses of why we got loaforc to make the sound api for us

I’m sure you’ve noticed, like creatures have usually 3 different variations of sound instead of just making one “better” sound play. The variation is what made it immersive. If that’s the way you think too then you’ll love the new api

Difference is, instead of a random rng pull, you can have conditional rng pools

but yeah, the list of ambiences is large and i did add like 4 more sounds in my current dev build (not listed here because im not at home, so i just took this screenshot on my laptop). And thats just that ambience sound for in orbit. Theres a few more for other stuff too.

That part is all beyond me personally, I’m just a sound designer that found people to bring the vision to life. The programming stuff is not my strong suit

Again, huge inspiration for mine. Getting the explosions timed right to the actual shockwaves outside is difficult though

In any case though, once im home on Sunday i'll try and see if I can get the soundapi ports for my mods finished and pushed to TS.

Will let you know once they're out, you guys could then theoretically add a config check on your end that looks for if my config is enabled, and disables your ship sounds if it is. Or you just add an option for it in general.

For posterity and as a followup to what i said about releasing the update soon

Im sort of holding back the release a bit with the hope that Loaforc addresses the problem with the ship thruster sound not working, whilst also working on adding some more new sounds

Oh I missed this, my bad - as it stands right now, I would advise against it as LethalResonance uses LoaforcSoundAPI, whereas the current version of my mod still uses the old LC Sound Tool + CustomSounds method, and LC Sound Tool currently tends to bug out when used together with LoaforcSoundAPI.

Sadly until the thing in my message above yours gets addressed in LSAPI, I'm not gonna be able to actually do anything about it I'm afraid.

(The update to migrate my mod to SoundAPI has been sitting around in my dev folder ready for final testing for a while now, but I don't want to release it when core parts of it dont work, so im still patiently waiting for Bongo to release a fix for this. I've been on a LC break for a bit in the meantime, but happy to return when a fix is out.)

Though what I can say is, there was a discussion about adding special compatibility with LethalResonance once this fix and the update comes to be.
