Welcome Research Technician
RND stands for Research and Development, and your job is to collect "samples" for the company.
This is a modpack that focuses on diversifying and expanding the core experience of Lethal Company, while maintaining its horror, cooperative aspects, and feeling of progression and discovery.
Additionally, this modpack is an attempt to highlight the best mods I could find, without sacrificing performance to an unbearable degree.

Key Features

  • More store items, scrap (200+ probably), enemies (12), interiors (19), moons (22), weathers (4), gameplay mechanics, and even custom music. More everything, but hopefully not overwhelming.
  • Some rare events added, such as malfunctions, go discover them!
  • Each moon you go to should feel unique in every single aspect: scrap, enemies, interiors have all been adjusted and pre-configured.
  • New strategies: finding crates, hunting enemies, progressing Late Game Upgrades using the apparatus. Find the strategy that you think works best.

Key Mods

  • Central Config: the backbone of this modpack, configures every single aspect of this modpack and offers novel gameplay mechanics.
  • Facility Meltdown + Pizza Probability
  • Late Game Upgrades: has been toned down but still plays a key part in game progression.
  • Lethal Moon Unlocks: randomizes moon selection.
  • Weather Registry: more weathers and weathers improve scrap value and quantity.
  • Lethal Phones: good fun, a nice vanilla-esque way to commnicate.

FAQ (I made these up for now)

Why does the modpack not work?

  • You might have to re-download the modpack on a new profile, or not update the mods added by the modpack. Sometimes new updates break central config which causes some lame outcomes (no enemies).
  • If you have a problem, send me a message in this chat.

I have more than 4 players who really, really want to play?

  • I haven't tried it, but I heard that Morecompany might work, it might cause some title screen glitches since NoMoreCompanyLogo exists.

When I made the post, there was an option to add an image in the top right. I don't think I did anything else other than that

some kinda audio desync where sometimes a player can't hear another despite others being able to hear them, I assume it's phone related

Oh yeah, I think I have had that happen before. Does this occur when talking on the phone or in general proximity chat?

going into space, solo run on third day, can't land, can't route to moons, even tryin inventory fix and more, quitting loses my progress from the day

I remember having an issue like that a couple times, I fixed it by restarting the game but it sucks that you lose the previous day's progress. I will be doing some play testing this week before I drop the 1.1.0 patch. Let me know if it is a frequent issue! Or if there is already a known fix

Also a suggestion: scp (forget which one), country road and rolling giant are kinda OP, it's your pack, but I'd personally

  1. Remove the SCP

  2. Nerf the rolling giant

  3. Only spawn country road creature on higher tiered moons, namely paid ones, I get them pretty consistently on March it seems

Yeah that’s fair,
I am always afraid to go to moons with the rolling giant.
Country road creature should be a rare spawn on every moon (with the cloudy weather increasing this chance) but I can blacklist it from some of the early moons so it doesn’t blindside new runs. Also, I have had a weird inconsistent central config glitch that makes only the shy guy and country road creature spawn on a moon. I am pretty sure I can fix and future proof it though.
In my limited play testing I have never ran into the SCP so I have little experience with it. I’ll try to run aquatis tonight to run into it.

  • Phased out General improvements by adding:
    • Buttery fixes
    • OpenMonitors
    • BetterShipScreens
    • NoSellLimit
    • SnapRotateFurniture
    • Matty_Fixes

  • Added CabIn, forgot this on initial upload somehow.
  • Added more RND Assets, and lowered the volume of the voicelines.
  • Removed SCP966, was kind of difficult to deal with in general, especially in the liminal pools interior.
  • Partially reworked weather rarity: WeatherTweaks' crazy weather is half as common. Looking into other changes for the future.
  • Nerfed the rolling giant, much slower, but a little less predicatable as all of its AI types have been enabled.
  • Nerfed the spider: back to vanilla speed.
  • Cleaned up cental config: some of the moon time scaling was weird.
  • Adjusted enemy spawns on most moons: there was a jester outside on solace? nahh.
  • Adjusted Late Game Upgrades: Each apparatus you pull should be one big upgrade rather than 2.
  • Updated mods.

That probably wouldn't work by itself as all of the scrap is preconfigured for each moon in this mod pack, so adding scrap mods will not do anything without extra configuration. If you make a list of all of the scrap you want to add and then format it for central config (ScrapID:Rarity,ScrapID:Rarity), I guess you could insert it into the "Add scrap to all moons" section under "Global" within the central config configuration file.

i found issiue i cant leave lobby

This is a known issue. I get the black screen whenever I change the config file for Central Config. This also causes interiors to be scrambled and probably other weird things.
I still need to look into if it is a mod issue or a mod conflict.
I fix it by deleting all my save files and restarting the game, but obviously this means that progress might be lost on updates to the mod pack.
As for the game freezing and taking a while to close, that might be a side effect of all of the mods being loaded. I have had certain mods be more problematic than others so it might be one mod causing the issue.

1.2.0: Restructuring and Debugging

  • Migrated dungeon injections from Central Config to Lethal Level Loader
    • This might fix several desync issues I have seen and have had reports of. Let me know if they still occur.
  • Added more RND assets:
    • Ambient music for Snow moons. If you are gonna stay outside, it better feel cold audibly.
    • Voice lines for 0 days left to quota, and FIRED
  • Made solo play overall harder:
    • Dungeons now have a minimum scaling of 0.8 times the original size for 1 player (was like 0.6 originally).
    • This will spread out scrap and enemies. And make the apparatus more difficult to track down.
  • Changed solace's difficulty rating from B-? to just B-. It just looked like an outlier, and the lore implications have already been removed.
  • Adjusted moon descriptions for rosie's moons. Awesome lore, but it isn't consistent with the other moons. Left some of the important notes though.
  • Changed Terra rebalance config to remove conflict potential with buttery rebalance.
  • Changed buttery rebalance config to remove conflicts with Central Config.
  • Fixed oversight with CabIn being common. It was added with moon tags accidently.
  • (hopefully) Fixed oversight with cloudy weather not even being configured.
  • Disabled BepInEx logger. I like the logger, just in case the game locks up. But it can be distracting. Enable it in the BepInEx.cfg file to check for errors.
  • Removed rainy weather from aquatis. It just doesn't look right.
  • Disabled and removed Liminal Pools. blah... Just heard the stinger and I was already on the fence.
  • Added Castle Interior to aquatis. Let me know if there is a better interior for aquatis (besides Atlantian Citadel).
  • Adjusted an enemy on rend...
  • Adjusted some interior-themed enemy spawn weights and types.
  • Probably messed with some other configs that I forgot about.

Oops, I will update it in the post. You can also download it from the thunderstore on a new profile. I think just updating the RND mod will work too, but I haven’t tested that yet

Been really enjoying the modpack.
Does easy mode lower the spawns? The only complaint me and my friends have had of RND is that there are sometimes multiple days where we just don't run into monsters; the spawns seem very low

Small update: 1.2.1

  • Added End of Day Count Down for when a meltdown occurs
  • Added Loadstone
  • Adjusted some interior size restrictions
  • Adjusted some enemy spawning stuff, just some fixes, and maybe one rare thing
  • Removed Coilhead mod (the teleporting one), It caused problems.
  • Removed dynamic dungeon scaling based on player count. It looked like it was causing problems with the Xen interior.
