it'd be awesome if monster crew still had the disadvantages of their monsters

#

eg: eyeless dog will only be able to see players that make sound

#

also some characters should definitely get nerfed - iirc you can just shotgun spam with nutcracker in control company

#

wellllll not necessarily

#

earthworm, for example, could be perfectly fine being unkillable

#

old birds tho could use soe balancing

#

maybe they could have some sorta energy system? like you spawn with 100% battery and the more you move/use weapons, the more it depletes?

and when you reach 0, you self-destruct

perhaps if the apparatus is pulled, t=your charge could be refilled to 150% or smth

#

ohhhh....

jester.

how would jester work, like at all

#

yea that seems like a good idea

#

thats what i was thinking too - blocking stuff with jester could be kinda balances presuming jester would be killable now

but i mean after winding

#

oh i have an idea

#

maybe while youre winding, you can slowly walk around but you cant body-block

and you get a lot more hp while you wind

and when you finish winding, you get maybe like 15-20 seconds of just running around at increasingly higher speeds and slaghtering everyone

so, for the employees, the task becomes either to:

  • leave the facility so your winding is reset
  • kill you before you finish winding
#

tl;dr: winding jester = walking bomb the players have to defuse before it explodes and kilsl everyone

#

almost kinda yeah,

#

maybe

#

i think the jester should have an absurdly large cooldown before it can wind again

#

so you only have to deal with this "tank" once or twice in a match

#

and going jester would be a sacrificing since you wouldnt be going as other monsters

#

hmmm i assumed you could choose which monster you were

but having it be random could also be cool

#

maybe you could have a choice between choosing a random enemy, or choosing a random enemy but you already know what enemy it is beforehand

#

kinda like: "do you wanna go hoarding bug or spin the dice"

ok so i've thought about how (some of the) monsters could work:

  • Baboon hawk: spawns in small swarms. The leader (you) would control the whole mini-army
  • Barber: invisible to anyone standing outside a radius, but can only move every second or so (also has instakill scissors)
  • Bracken: only has 1 hp, but is silent until observed. Can instakill via neck snapping
  • Spider: can place webs. Whenever a player steps in a web, they are slowed and you recieve their location. can also climb walls to an extent, but your movement speed is slow and you don't deal that much damage
  • Butler: stabby stabby but only when there's one player around/you get attacked. Upon death, spawn butler bees that you can control
  • Butler bees: unkillable, but die after like 20ish seconds, can only spawn from dying as a butler
  • Coil-head: can only move when not observed, really fast, deals pretty good damage (needs improvements)
  • Earthworm: can launch self out of the ground to consume someone or to dive-bomb someone from above (needs improvements)
  • Dog: can only see things that make sound. When someone makes a sound relatively nearby, you're alerted of the sound's location via a marker
  • Giant: lots of hp, decent speed, can pick up players and eat them (needs improvements)
  • Ghost girl: can only affect one player at a time. Has to modes: "phantom" and "manifested". Phantom mode is basically minecraft spectator, manifest mode is when you actually appear as ghost girl. Has an "energy" meter. Energy burns over time while manifested, and can be used to walk through walls while manifested. When no energy is left, you go into phantom mode. Energy regenerates while in phantom mode.
  • Hoarding bug: can fly to some extent and can steal scrap.
  • Jester: see above, but could use some balancing (needs improvements)
  • Kidnapper fox (if enabled with YesFox): can create bushes for enemies to hide in, and can use its tongue to reel players in. Can only kill while in a bush
#

ty (im making more bc discord word limit)

full horizon
#
  • Slime: idk (needs improvements)
  • Maneater: not sure how that would work (needs improvements)
  • Masked: basically acts like a player that's on the monster team, can use items and such (DOESN'T have instakill vomit)
  • Nutcracker: can only see moving things, has a gun and an instakill kick
  • Old bird: has battery power that it uses up to fly, move and attack, maybe it regenerates? (needs improvements)
  • Snare flea: can move on the ceiling, can fall on top of a player to start suffocating them (needs improvements)
  • Spore lizard: can emit a large spore cloud to obscure players' vision (a bit boring) (needs improvements)
  • Thumper: decent hp, decent attack, can bust down doors (even locked ones) and make turrets go into overcharge (that thing that happens when turrets are hit with a shovel)
  • Tulip snake: can fly, and can latch onto players to carry them into the air (one tulip snake would be enough to lift a player), can enter and exit the facility
  • Circuit bees: I don't think they should even be included tbh

IMPORTANT SIDE NOTES:

  • Unlike regular control company, your POV would be first-person, not third-person

  • There would be a forcefield surrounding the ship. When a monster enters the forcefield, it gets damaged (the longer a monster stays within the field, the more it gets damaged). This is to prevent ship-camping.

  • As you might've seen by reading the text, not all monsters have the same amount of health and damage as they normally do.

  • Masked, tulip snakes and ghost girl are able to enter and exit the facility

  • Hoarding bugs should not be able to drop scrap in inaccessible areas such as death pits

  • Nutcrackers should be able to kick soccer balls :3

#

ghost girl could use some code from the poltergeist mod maybe (the mod that gives you freecam when you die)

#

yea

#

thats fair

main plover
#

Have y'all considered that just not all monsters should be controllable

#

I meant jester

#

Like how in left for dead nobody controls the witch

full horizon
main plover
#

That's not true

#

Otherwise, the witch would be playable

#

Or, in LC's case, bees

full horizon
#

well by as many options as possible

#

i meant as many options that would be fun

#

bees aint fun

#

manticoils + roaming locusts dont do anything

#

everyehting else could be incorporated in some shape or form and be interesting

main plover
#

The Jester is super witch coded

#

Audio cue indicates danger, gotta be mindful of it, then when it becomes dangerous it's a super fast insta-killer that makes a beeline straight toward you

#

Idk how you'd make player control of the jester actually feel interesting I guess

#

funnily enough tho it'd be more fun to play an adult maneater

#

than the jester

#

how would you make the Bracken fair for that matter

full horizon
full horizon
#

for jester, i had this ide abut idk if it's any good

full horizon
#

i mean ye im thinking thered be several types of monsters: attack, defense, support (like in any fighting game)

#

support could be stuff like spore lizards and brackens

#

attack could be monsters like thumpers and ghost girl

#

defense could be worms and giants

#

yeye thats what i was thinking

#

attack: kill players
defense: prevent players from getting scrap and bringing it to ship
support: assist everyone

#

slight difference but its there ig

full horizon
#

ATTACK:

  • Baboon hawk
  • Jester
  • Masked
  • Nutcracker
  • Old Bird
  • Ghost girl
  • Thumper

DEFENSE:

  • Kidnapper fox
  • Spider
  • Sandworm
  • Dog
  • Giant

SUPPORT:

  • Tulip snake
  • Spore lizard
  • Hoarding bug
  • Barber
  • Bracken
  • Butler & Butler Bees
#

heres my rough class grouping, not fully accurate but i think it fits decently

#

i mean like i dont think this should be official catgorization, this isnt tf2 💀

#

just a brief outline

#

of how you'll probably play the monsters

marsh storm
#

being able to play any of the instakillers would make this absolute ass to be an employee. if they're being controlled, they won't be limited by a set of rules the monsters would otherwise be limited to.

full horizon
#

well depends how the instakill happens and the monster's disantvantages

but i see your point

#

gimme an example u thiink might suck tho

marsh storm
#

imagine never losing a giant's aggro.

full horizon
#

yeaaaaaa theres some monsters like giant which i just havent figured out yet at all ._.

#

giant, maneater and a couple others - i have no clue what to do with them

marsh storm
#

there's a reason left 4 dead keeps the tank as a sometimes playable in versus.

full horizon
#

maybe giant's speed and visibility could be limited somehow

marsh storm
#

and the tank can't instakill unless you're by a ledge.

full horizon
#

i mean giant doesnt have to instakill necessarily
just because he does so in base-gane

#

maybe giant could just pick it up and straight up throw an employee lmao

marsh storm
#

or maybe it just shouldn't be playable

full horizon
#

would need a lotta balancing tho

marsh storm
#

that's just the driftwood giant from giant subspecies

full horizon
#

wait they added a new giant??

marsh storm
#

not vanilla

full horizon
#

well duh

#

i mean the mod

#

all ik is redwood

#

the huge one

#

ive only played the mod like once tho

marsh storm
#

driftwood giant has been there for a while

full horizon
#

damn i rlly havent been catching up

marsh storm
#

but on that note, at least if that mod's active, giant players would have a real threat

full horizon
#

ty for telling me

marsh storm
#

either that or coderebirth since the redwood giant there is better than the GS version

full horizon
marsh storm
#

yep

full horizon
#

but ye normal giant may be among the few that prolly shouldnt be there

#

along with maneater, snare flea and maybe earthworm

marsh storm
#

i agree with tiltedhat, tbh. jester should be on that list.

#

same reason witches aren't playable in l4d.

full horizon
#

yeah ok thats fair tbh

marsh storm
#

unless you code in the ability to one-shot it with a shotgun.

#

because that's how you deal with witches.

full horizon
#

i meannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

#

there are mods that give death anims to enemies

main plover
#

I actually think the snareflea could be playable

#

setting yourself up in good trap spots

full horizon
#

maybe maneater could have some capabilities adult maneater doesn't? baby makes it easier to get into position where you can transform or smth like that

would be funny if employees could still pick you up, maybe transforming takes a good few seconds that's clearly telegraphed or smth to give the employees a chance

main plover
#

you're slower than employees so you can't just obliterate them

full horizon
#

i like the trap idea

#

what i dont like is possibly the waiting

#

ig it encourages yout to be more mobile tho

main plover
#

and then just make it so like

#

you can only headgrab for about 5-10 seconds after dropping from the ceiling so you can't just like

#

crawl up a dude's ass

full horizon
#

ye fair

#

it could even kinda act like attack and support

#

do u wanna:

  1. stay on for shorter but do more damage
  2. stay on for longer but do basically no damage, instead just obscuring the player's vision
