And unfortunately he can also see you from ages away that means
i guess so, if that's how you see it. however he's always visible and unlit.
Does he act like a ghost or can everyone see him?
If you do need a unique mechanic for what baldi can do, considering (to my knowledge) he’d only just chase you around, he can probably start off slow, and increase his speed every time someone takes scrap out of the facility, similar to how notebooks work in his game

Will there be other things that it does or other types of mechanics or will it just be basic AI chasing me until it touches me and then I die.
If you're doing it via scrap collected, would be interesting if one of these two happens:
- Upper limit is more tailored towards higher moons (like let's say every 4 collected = +1 to speed, caps at +8 speed kind of like in the original game)
- Percentage-based on scrap on the moon (will mean he's a menace for early moons)
Unsure cause Baldi at least in the original is basically just that, just with the added caveat he gets faster the more progress you make in the game
Here I got an idea. Because of right now he doesn't really know where I'm at (Even though I'm nearby him) make it so every door a player opens baldi can hear it. (He will go towards that sound if not chasing a player already. If they are not chasing a player they will head towards that area of where the door was opened. Cause for some reason he won't patrol around the building. Including vanilla interiors.)
It's that + the obstacles you had to deal with (Principal, Jumprope Kid, GOTTA SWEEP SWEEP, etc.) that you also had to deal with alongside with evading corporal punishment
I don't mind the other mechanics from Baldi's not making in to this mod since it's focused on Baldi and mechanically, he is pretty... basic
Arguably Lethal's other entities and hazards make up for this so no biggie tbh
Actually now that I think about it doesn't he just wander and travel to a source of sound he registers in the original? (Until he finds you, then just chases you)
currently he somewhat roams (atleast he's supposed to) until a player is within radius of him
if i could figure out how to make him to towards any door that opens, that would be perfect
I also thought about making sure there's a cap so it doesn't get too fast
Math has to be implemented somehow! What if you get a math prompt when bringing scrap back to the ship sometimes, and answering wrong makes baldi faster!
imo that would make the mod very annoying to play with

How about the You Can Think Pad as a rare unique scrap that prompts the math? Third(glitched) question could also spawn Baldi in the facility if he doesn't already exist instead of speeding him up

though we reeeeally should fix smallfry so he's not being downloaded for being broken

He has excellent hearing and knows when you pick up scrap. Unplugging the apparatus makes him angy

yes he listens for doors and his move target gets set to that door's location. once it finds a player, he'll lock onto that player ignoring doors.
You should make him do his iconic laugh or voiceline to warn players of his speed increase

What if you can type a command on the terminal that gives you math questions, if you answer correctly, baldi slows down, if you answer incorrectly, baldy gets faster?

Was just trying to think of a mechanic to slow him down so he doesn't get unfair
he's got a minimum speed, it can't get any faster than that
his speed is based off how many items are grabbed
so it calculates how many items there are and how many have been collected
however It's based off value, so if you pick up a key, he'll barely speed up. if you pick up a gold bar, he'll speed up exponentially
Guess I can't judge it till I see how fast he can get for myself
His max speed is goofy but still able to be dodged.. which is kinda unlike the real game where he gets so fast you just die at the later part
Does the way his value check works just go off what's in your ship? Seems like an unironically really cool gimmick to make you NOT want to horde too many items at once
Its based on how many items you've gathered from the current level. He get angy when you touch stuff

I don't know if anyone has suggested this but what if when Baldi catches you instead of instantly killing you, you need to solve a math problem with a limited amount of time or you will just die. If you solve the math problem successfully Baldi will get teleported to a random part of the map and maybe have a temporary reduced speed? And the math problems could get harder the more times you get caught during the same round.

Yeah I think it's when he's chasing someone and he sees them go out of that exit
The Jester has a similar problem sometimes where it just aggros permanently
but it sends the player super far away out of its range
it should stop targeting at that point

if no players are in range he'll just stand still so if you leave a door and all your buddies are dead or on the ship then he's gonna camp that entrance

Oh there is just a set of nodes for interior and exterior points easily available. Yea, if Risk wants me to, I think I can basically copy that into both smallfry and baldi and make them wander when idle
Could you add a setting to add Baldi only to specific moons?
The LLL config:
find baldi's name through something like LethalQuantities, and use that to set the spawn weight of him with the LethalLevelLoader config for whatever moons you choose
I ended up using Central Config's per dungeon enemy injection
I'd love to make Baldi wander around, it would be alot better and prevent door camping lol. I thought implementing the door hearing mechanic would be good enough lol.
As for Smallfry, I guess we could make him wander too, I just like his little idle animation.

I'm thinking about packaging up the common features that Baldi and Smallfry use into an enemyAI extension package that all enemy modders can use

so baldi keeps baldi-ing my logs full of nodes he wants to travel to and it's causing the game to lag a bit with all the spam that's happening
I know we left logs on, but that shouldn't affect performance. does it @delicate copper ?
Uh, that looks like he's changing target like 5 times a second.
Under normal circumstances he won't do that so I wonder if he got spawned in behind a locked door and can't make it to any of the nodes he's selecting causing a loop where he looks for another one
That many logs / second could cause a bit of slowdown so maybe we should shut it off since he can get confused
is the mod stable to use as of know? 🤔
Baldi should work unless he gets stuck in a section of the map he can't escape from. We can always push a hotfix and just disable logging so he doesn't spam the log when that happens but otherwise I'm sure he works fine
