they were meant to be ambient enemies originally, they'd just follow you around and stop when you look at them like coil-heads
but I tacked the lightning gimmick and explosions on them after the fact to make them more interesting
and Cc did those additions quite fast too so it gave me a ton of time to test how they played

Ye there's two ways
You hit them with a shovel as you run past them; while you do this make sure you have some distance between you and the crab before running so you're at full speed
The other is grabbing a trusty ol' knife and sitting right on top of one, then spam LMB a bunch until the thing is dead
If you manage to hit it before the explosion charge ends every time it won't ever actually blow up, so with a knife you can basically stun-lock them
The explosion's damage is also determined by how close you are to its radius
it goes like... 100 if you're on top, halfway through it goes to 50 and then when you're out of the radius it's at 0 obviouly. I forget the exact numbers but I know you get one shot when you're standing on the explosion

the main thing that got me stuck w my pack was the fact that I added a lot to tje oveworld but there was practically nothing in the nether or end so it felt super boring, and whatever I found that looked good for the nether or end did not fit the vibes I wanted
I ended up just cramming so much shit into both of those dimensions that the mod count was at like 215 😭
it was sooo much content bloat
but last night I wittled it down to just 124 + 11 resourcepacks
I ended up basically removing nether and end content and blocking the dimensions entirely to make the overworld more interesting and fleshed out
I found a few workarounds for getting (some but not all) nether items like a peaceful mode crafting recipes mod and some other tiny mods, and now the pack's got a few places you can approach progression from that all end up in the same place
main goal of the pack is to gather enough firepower to take down the wither (using one of those mods that beefs it up)

Adds ability enchants, like killing a mob will freeze it and send ice shards outwards that damage other mobs
Removes durability
You can only have 1 enchantment on each tool and you can choose it in the enchanting table instead of just RNG
Treasure enchantments though can only be gotten from enchanted books still
its completely configurable too, really fun mod

Yeah theyve worked for me, it's likely a mod incompatibility then, I'm guessing here but it seems like they just add values flatly to the player stats but if you have another mod that does stuff with player stats it might override it
