A rework of the interior flooding mod called OopsAllFlooded since it broke with update v60, and I don't think it is going to be updated anymore but I absolutely loved the concept of the interior flooding with flooded weather and combined with the Oxygen mod it created a great atmosphere. There were only a few things I disliked about OopsAllFlooded which were the fact that it didn't affect enemies at all and it was generally just unfun to walk around in the water because of the stamina drain you get from simply just touching a water source.

My idea was to either make certain enemies avoid water altogether or slow them down as well, for the stamina problem, simply making the player a bit faster and not cause stamina drainage by just walking.

It would also be cool to add the (V60 spoilers) ||water leaking effect from inside the caves in the new interior|| to flooded interiors so it would feel more dynamic.

Other than that OopsAllFlooded also wasn't very configurable which was a shame but i really hope someone remakes this because I found the mod to be very underrated :D

I too would love a more configurable OopsAllFlooded, the problem is that how would it work with different interiors? Currently it makes many interiors unplayable

Probably would need many configs, like:

  • Water level on different interiors
  • Rising/Lowering water speed or maybe even static
  • Weather conditions

OopsAllFlooded checks where the entrance is and makes it so that there can't be water above that point, if you were to download OopsAllFlooded right now the water would still be visible it's just not functional anymore, but from my testing the way the water starts and rises is fine on most interiors

I also tested some interiors both modded and vanilla with the broken OopsAllFlooded mod here are some images:

Both sewer interior screenshots were taken at the start of the round while for the grand armory it took a lot longer for the water to appear

Some idea's i've come up with for a rework

Dynamic weather effects for flooding:

∙Vent floods
This would cause some vents to open up and spawn a small waterfall-type effect which would increase the rate at which the water rises.
∙Roof leakage
The effect from the ||mineshaft interior|| where water droplets or an entire stream of water will drop down from the ceiling upon entering an interior which has the flooded weather.
∙Breaker box short circuiting
When the water reaches the breaker box it will become broken and the power in the facility will go out
∙Items short circuiting
various electronic items could short circuit from taking them underwater, like the walkie talkie for example

New items:

∙Helmet walkie
A more expensive but also more useful walkie talkie that works as a suit upgrade, instead of having to keep it in your inventory it is directly built into your helmet making it usable underwater without short circuiting or a loss of audibility.
∙Helmet Flashlight
Same idea as the walkie, long battery to combat the fact that you cannot recharge it.

Mod compatibility:

∙ImmersiveVisor
The visor cracking would cause your visibility to go blurry underwater and Helmet walkies will start to sound distorted.
∙Oxygen
Very self explanatory.
∙Surfaced
config so that the enemies and traps from surfaced can only spawn underwater?

Configuration:

∙Speed at which the water rises
∙Whether water is static/dynamic
∙Stamina/stamina drainage settings
∙Whether vent floods take up power levels and how many

Ways to combat the flooding:
∙Water valves
Having different colored pipes that leak water instead of fog/gas which you can close up with a valve which would spawn opened on the map to slow down the flooding.
∙Closing vents
The ability to close vents which have been opened by monsters or the new flooding mechanic, either with your bare hands or by adding a new screwdriver item.
∙Drains
Adding various drains on the map which would be located on the floor, by interacting with them the flooding wouldn't slow down as with the valves but instead it would reverse and take away a certain height of water.

Well... I'm not really interested in those new items, especially since it doesn't relate to the flooding mod in my opinion and Zeekerss will be working on Scuba Equipment at some point for Liquidation, so i would recommend leaving the equipment aside and focus on these cool ideas such as leaking water into the facility, breaker box circuiting, water valves and drains

i find the vanilla flooding to be more of an inconvenience than a cool feauture

it's has nothing unique going for it, the water is basically just quicksand from the rainy weather but less deadly

Being able to "fight" against the water with water valves and drains is a cool idea, because you give some purpose and challenge aside from running away from monsters inside the facility

yeah that's also what i thought, just hope someone with actual skills decides to take up this idea, because i don't know if you've used OopsAllFlooded after v60 but it's completely broken, someone i talked to decided to issue it on the creators github but it seems that that person just stopped working on it entirely since it was last updated 7 months ago

I used with Oxygen too, i stopped using in v56 actually because the oxy-canister was so fucking bad that it was pointless

Also, I do wish that the monsters had more interactions with the water

Some seem to just ignore it exists

oxy-canister doesn't work if you have the oxygen mod installed you have to use the oxy boost then

Some monsters should be able to ignore, like Forest Keeper, Thumper, Coilheads

Others should just avoid
