Well the game doesn't need optimization, it runs fine vanilla
just that the code is a spaghetti mess
sure, but ironically that would be really bad for the modding community

I hope it's also compatible with coroner
So what I have left to before an initial release is:
- team text chat
- spectator role
The ship I'll leave for now, though I'll make a pvp free zone around it
I also need to stop the quota somehow and restart the game after a set amount of rounds
Some things I want to do as well:
- Better interface for viewing and managing teams and settings. Using the terminal is a bit annoying and also requires you to know all the commands. It also doesn't provide real-time updates on the standings, unless you constantly run
list-teams. Right now the match settings also need to be configured through LethalConfig. What I'm envisioning is a TV/computer in your ship (similarly to the terminal) which has a world space UI on it. - Making only one team able to choose which moon to go to. This would be configurable so either the team who lost the last round gets to pick, or it cycles through all of them.
Oh also I had an idea about a more involved "survival" gamemode further down the line. In this mode each each team would have their own ship, dropship (and cruiser i guess), currency and quota to fulfill. The team who survives the longest wins.

iirc the old comp company had credits given to you immediately after collecting items, so that at the end of the day or even during it you could buy stuff immediately w the money you gathered

my idea for a competitive mode for this style of game was to use instanced versions of the game where only people on the same team are syncd with each other so each team can land on seperate moons but have the time of the days advance all the time so they just gotta get as much as they can within the time limit but would have an option to either make it full rng or same seed for all teams for each moon pre-generated before they even pick any moons or ye just full random which will then make it for whoever gets a better seed wins
but ye to do this it be too much work for a mod in my opinion and the amount of cheating that be possible with it being instanced versions is oof
work around be to generate all the levels in one level and when they pick one it just takes them to the location its at instead but ye

Team 1 pulls lever and doesnβt get a bonus. Team 1 is put in spectator, Team 2 has to get back to the ship in one hour as if it was voted in spectator
I feel like giving a bonus to the team that puts the other team on a time constraint would be a bit weird
also what if the hotbar changed color to signify your team

Depends on which "old" system you're talking about. LC uses the main uGUI system which usually doesn't do stuff every frame unlike the imgui system
but an animator can absolutely do that
also not very good for performance since it dirties the whole canvas every frame
