#Artifice Blizzard

i do not know
my gut intuition is probably, but have to find out and see
it should work with rebalanced moons, at least
Immediate blizzard after setting its weight to 6%, during an eclipse no less
Cool rng, no pun intended
still begging and pleading for fog to be able to be denser than 2.4
What's Blueish variant comparable to? Vanilla Titan? Chameleon Titan?
"bluish" is the same hue/saturation as brightblue
but with the value of "neutral"
if im being honest there's not a huge difference, because the dwarf star lighting makes everything look kind of blue anyway
brightblue is a huge difference though
it uses the unused fog color from the scene (which actually originates from rend's scene) and it makes everything look way brighter than rend/dine
So BrightBlue is closest to Zeekerss' original design for Artifice?
it's actually likely that Neutral is closer to the original design
when i made the original version of the mod, it used BrightBlue by default because i thought it was a leftover from an earlier version of the artifice scene
But BrightBlue is what Zeekerss left over, right?
but then I discovered that same fog color is unused in the scene for both rend and dine
Huh
meaning it has been unused since at least zeekerss finished rend (before even v9)
because we know that dine's scene and artifice's scene both started out as duplicates of rend's scene
before zeekerss gave them unique terrain
the tldr is that I used BrightBlue by mistake in earlier versions because I thought it was a leftover from artifice
but it's actually almost certain that it was never used on artifice even before v50 released publicly
i changed the default because of that
one problem is that we have no idea how dense the fog on artifice used to be
I'll use neutral then
you will have to just guess what number feels good
I use 25.0 since that's what Artifice uses by default
because zeekerss just cut down on the snowstorm fog when he changed artifice's looks
the original number isn't available anywhere
Rend's whopping 3.7 I feel like is too low for a moon that lacks any sort of guiding light
assuming he didn't change it until he redesigned Artifice, it would've used Rend's value of 3.7 by default, but Dine uses 8.0 and it's the only other snowstorm map he worked on in v50
Dine also used 3.7 in v49
etc.
Speaking of, how come your Artifice blizzard isn't plunged in constant night like the other ice moons, or is that just because I have the fog set too thin?
i guess it kinda depends on what you're seeing vs. what you're expecting
but this mod should make artifice look visually almost identical to rend/dine
with default settings
this is artifice with rend's fog values
jetpacking kind of completely cuts through the fog
overall pretty similar to rend
Neat
Old birds on blizzard Artifice have so much aura for no reason
yes i think old birds are like 1000x cooler in blizzards
which can only happen on dine in vanilla
and even then it barely happens because most of the time all the spawn power is just instantly occupied by giants
Aren't old birds on Titan too?
oh wait yeah you're right
i forgor
they are kind of lackluster on titan because of how small and empty the map is though
True
also he reduced their spawn rate on titan before v50 released and they are extremely uncommon there too
Blizzard Artifice gives them weird forced perspective when standing next to say, like a warehouse
They look HUGE
It's weird that they're more common on Dine than Titan, considering Titan literally went to war
he added them to dine and titan with the same spawn chance
well, same spawn weight
but in one of the betas he decided to reduce it for titan
it's actually not that significant of a difference now
the main thing that makes them more common on dine now is the fact that dogs got reduced in v60
anyways
@neat dawn The sky from this mod still applies despite the blizzard variant not being present?
Atlas incompatibility maybe?

pretty sure this is a vanilla oddity
It is?
are you talking about the sun color?
because if so yes, this is a vanilla thing
it happens sometimes depending on the moon's current weather from what i've seen
what weather was it?
I believe Clear
did it ever change to anything else?
like through weather tweaks or anything else
I told him to come outside, I asked him the sun color, and the player I asked told me it was red, while the same sun I was staring at was blue
I was playing client-side on a vanilla public lobby
So, no
I'm kinda stumped then
from MY experience the sun color on artifice changes depending on the weather
probably because zeekers forgot to change the sun texture for stormy and eclipsed, just zeek shenanigans
but i've never seen it blue on clear
I get why you might've thought it was this, then
lol that's funny
i never knew that
but yeah
whenever there's overcast weather
the sun reverts back to being the dwarf star
yee
("overcast" meaning flooded, eclipsed, or stormy)
iirc during eclipse it uses embrion's sun I think?
actually nvm i forgot eclipse uses its own animation clip for the sun
it's fine during eclipse
ain't eclipsed and stormy different?
ye
oops lagging
there
anyways that is really bizarre
artifice blizzard replaces all the sun clips with the snowy ones
because i assumed vanilla used all the normal clips
(and then a player just "wasn't supposed to question" why the sun turned into a dwarf star during a blizzard)
but honestly this is even stranger
because even without mods the sun is constantly changing based on the weather
irl it's a mistake but I like to believe Artifice's system has two suns and that's it
hehe
smth like this
ignore embrion and arcadia being there
in reality you'd be able to see them both at all times, but don't think about it too much!!
this is kind of a completely unrelated tangent but i think it'd be cool if there was a weather effect that was just the "overcast" animation without any negative effects
mrov weathers has a "cloudy" weather that's basically that
it completely changes the feel of a moon
oh i see
it's just the stormy volume with no extra effects
i think dopadream told me about that actually
(if you turn off weather multipliers)
tho maybe they're off by default now, i forget
probably!!
