this is random but i know blaze said before they would potentially be down to make skins for modded monsters if they added compatibility to ESR/ESK
and with the new update for the mysterious harbinger, skins for them would be even more sick, since it now spawns reality fractures that can also have a skin to go with the harbinger's

then had to setup all te replacing logic for each enemy

the thing im looking at rn isn't the values of % for each skin but the actual value you feed the 0 to 100 to get a skin out of it, which is somehow the dev's responsibility and not ESR's responsibility

it might've been how you said it was before, since the documentation kinda hints that the host syncs it all, but the actual code implementation veers way off because the code in the documentation doesnt exist
according to docs you just give the enemy's ID and it gives you a skin, assumingly sync'd between everyone

Honestly, I don't know. Right now it's fine, the only problem I know of is that one time a while back Lunxara said something about EnemySkinKit apparently throwing errors and that it was going to be optimized (before Antler left)

Yeah, I get that. If the update comes (or any update for that matter) and breaks ESR/ESK though, me personally, I don't think there would be much I could do. I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of trying to pick up ESR/ESK, I've done quite a bit of coding, but it'd still be entering new territory for me and it'd majorly depend on how an update would break the mod. And splitting off from ESR/ESK would not be ideal given how much work would need to be done (220+ skins) and the loss of registry's configing
like 1-2 minutes for Extra & Colorful, less for Distinct & Moon (it's actually not that bad)

Mostly material, I only do texture for a few enemies because replacetexture can be unreliable
Like there's a bug where if a tulip skin that uses replace texture spawns, all tulips in that round will also spawn with that skin
I did for 34 moons, took me probably 3-4 hours in total haha

i did 4-5 per each individual spawn of each moon
with like 2 exceptions that are 3 iirc
and then i set the chances to be almost all the same

with two common skins, an uncommon, a rare, and a very rare
I think that only that come to mind are the Fox and Hydro given we cannot get their shaders
Those two are partially the reason that feature even came to be

Would you guys who do enemy skin replacements be interested in either A:
Something like ESK where you do the replacements in unity but you can only do simple things like texture/material replacement and only some audio replacements like death and hit ones.
Or would you rather a guide that's fairly involved and takes a decent bit of work for an enemy dev to make the ESK-like setup of stuff for their enemy but its potentially got a lot more replacements options

all you gotta do is import this into your project with ESR, and fill out whatever fields you wanna fill out

the way this works as well is it creates its own config so if someone disables a thingiemajig it just wont load it to begin with so you can have as many texture mods that use the dll with it

Another request: Could there be a variant of the Jack 'O Cracker skin where the nutcracker themself (The eye and muscle tissue) aren't changed?
What I like about Wax Replica is that it feels like a different set of armor for the nutcrackers, and I feel the same way toward Jack 'O Cracker. However, it's never really made sense to me why their biology would be any different.
Same could also apply to Impending Doom for jesters /shrug

Both it and the baby seem to use the background as their body/egg(?) but I've yet to mess with them yet, currently updating my project
The feathers on the Sapsucker is just one feather texture and the eye is a simple emissive map

if you're painting on teh texture manually i can see it being a pain but using a 3d paint program for it should be fine
Yeah but since a lot of the Fox's visuals is carried by the shader it's hard to really judge how the skin will actually look unless I constantly build the mod, import, open the game, and look which is still a pain

And usually when we use the Blender for 3D paint it's only to find out what parts are what or do rough outlines of WIP skins to do the finer details in our 2d paint program
