Even Masked Hornets will be getting color differences in the Butler skins
Honestly not even sure why when I added skins for those entities I only added 3 for each
you told me you didnt feel like adding too many bee, locusts, and hornet skins cuz you didnt think theyd be noticeable
and that you just got lazy with the manticoil
Fair, though I've long changed my mind about that ever since we started doing colors for the masked hornet in Extra's butler skins
Like sure they're small and they don't pop out like every other entity but I think it is somewhat noticable. And also thery're extremely easy to make colors for, so đ€·
I think every entity should get the minimum every other entity has followed
Would definitely like some input on this set of butlers, I'm not totally 100% on it
I've discussed with Disco about considering reworking the removed butler with the blueish skin into a more unique frostbite skin for Extra some point in the future

I looked back on the Snare Fleas and I sorta agree with the Gray and Red one in particular, I like the subtle hint of brown/red the original gray had and just the overall color of the original red.
I've since reverted the new gray to the original and readded the original red
Much better tbh, except maybe the pale blue skinned one he looks like he's really sick there, I think for the Icy Butler maybe a pale white would look better
Foxes are one of the easier outdoor monsters to kill, and barely harder than inside monsters.
Pretty sure the normal map if I'm correct on thinking this was broken before cus they heavily lacked detail

Sometimes, subtlety is more. I think that's ultimately what my gripe was with the original Coilheads and Thumpers, saturated colors on them just don't fit them all that well (ignoring the purple thumper cuz that one's just funny)

So I'm testing with tulips a lot and was thinking instead of just a random assortment of colors maybe there could be "sets" of colors like what the vanilla tulip snakes have? Maybe 3?
Wanna stress these in particular are still WIP, I'm messing with colors a lot for tulips
The vibrant color and diversity here is much nicer, however some of them are pretty boring as they're just washed out variants of their vanilla skins. They, mainly their frills, should Idk include more unique colors, like purple for the cyan jungle one

u know how many icons ive made for LLL moons? that's how many moons i'd need to configure 1 by 1. now multiply that by the amount of vanilla enemies + kidnapper fox in the game
not to mention that the moon selection list and skin weight section dont share the same order
the only issue i've ever had with tags is one moon using an incorrect tag which i reported to the developer
i can be quite particular, too; sometimes going off of moon lore

Any plans for adding skins for modded enemies? Or do you want to avoid that?
the skins from this mod use an API called enemyskinregistry, its not up to blaze/disco what monsters get skin compatibility
but beyond that, the maker of the API cant make modded monsters compatible

I am aware of the API. But this mod might as well be the only one that uses it. I don't expect Distinct or custom entity makers to account for each other, but still wanted to ask.

It technically can support modded enemies if enemy mod developers register them to the SkinRegistry

If enemy mod devs were to register their enemies for the registry I would be interested in possibly making skins but it would depend, since I probably wouldnât be able to use enemyskinkit to make skins easily. Itâd probably also be its own mod and not tied to Colorful/Extra

There are some cases where you wouldnât since the sides of your screen donât scare off the bracken. Not sure how much that really counts though if you can see its glowing eyes.

Masked arenât we support in enemy skin kits so it isnât even possible
Besides Iâm 90% sure it isnât something DistinctBlaze wanted to do
if you really want masked skins, you can use generalimprovements' setting for them to use player suits
There are plenty of other settings like copying peoples cosmetics, removing the mask on their face, whether they show player names, if they put their arms up near players, if they spin on the monitor and a chance to make it look like they have items on the monitor
i dont like making masked perfectly 1:1 copy players (aside from their weird shoulder movements which no mod tries to improve afaik)
it feels more rewarding to the player to learn and memorize how to differentiate masked from normal players
As I said on the Chameleon thread when suggested the idea, most mods that does that just copy the skin/cosmetic from other players. And they are mostly required by all clients or hurts performance. I'm trying to suggest masked enemies to have random suits, not different masks
Not interested in them, just the masked having more variety aside from orange suit or copying other players
Iâm not sure if there is a mod to make them choose a random suit
Hope there is in future. Always preferred that idea for vanilla+ modpacks but never bothered to check

the person corrupted by the mask is not the monster, its the mask itself
and the masks dont have color variants in vanilla
so only seeing them on corrupted players would be weird

The mask is a scrap (with paranormal properties). The monster "spawns" when it has control over a host (body). The body is just a player, theorically it should be able to apply suits to the body

I think ultimately it would better if it were its own mod where naturally spawned masked can spawn with a randomly registered suit. That sort of stuff is out of scope for this mod (and probably EnemySkinRegistry as a whole)

theres a default list that applies to every moon without its own config
theres only set ups for those specifically

I'm not sure, I don't think it's much to ask to just go in and disable all the skins? (I know barber has a lot of skins but even then)
IIRC Clay Surgeon completely overrides the skins anyways except for the sound on the scissor man skin so you only really have to disable the one skin and Clay Surgeon will work fine without disabling everything else
I could maybe just put a notice in the Readme regarding the skins and Clay Surgeon compatibility, but splitting the Barbers out of both mods into their own mod feels odd đ€·ââïž
well, you did say you wanted to make independant skin mods for each monster to massively reduce how much data people have to put on their computers
i know, i know, that would flood the thunderstore uploads and be harder to maintain
but it is a good idea to do that for at least colorful, not doing it for extra i get

Shroud Gray (left) already had very close colors except leaves so I just use that and tweaked it. Trying to push how much I can differentiate the contrast between them but it's kinda hard without making the white one stick out in the dark

bozoros' christmas update introduced a skin for butlers, them as santa, and the knife is replaced with a candy cane
initially it was a bit jank, since it turned back into a knife if you left the moon, closed the save file, and reopened it
but the team working on it managed to make them be separate items entirely
needless to say, it is possible to make monsters with items also have skins for the items
The thing is that we use EnemySkinKit for our mods and therefore we can't really do it unless we stopped using it and added the skins manually which would be a huge undertaking

SkinKit has it's limitations since it's a codeless approach to adding skins. If you do the skins by code and manually add them to the Registry you have a lot more freedom with what you can do with them, like how Antler's nymph skin uniquely carries players on death with their morecompany cosmetics and everything
Coding for Lethal Company has been something I've not tackled yet nor really have the motivation to learn atm

its not the API's fault, its just dependant how many skins you actually have
you can disable skins taking resources by clicking their icon in the config to make them unable to load at all

canyon is used by assurance and offense, if you set a nutcracker skin to spawn on canyon tagged moons, it can be on both of them

ZedFox is, well, a fox, and eyeless dogs aren't canines to begin with
Plus kidnapper foxes need some love in the extra skins department
The reason we havenât really done Kidnapper fox skins in ExtraEnemyVariety is because they have both the messiest texture and are the hardest to judge how the skin would look in game
We canât check in blender like we usually do because we donât have the shader material that gives them the raised/puffy moving fur
there's also the fact that theyre no longer a vanilla enemy, meaning not as much reason to reskin it if not everyone has it
Personally, the fact they arenât a vanilla enemy doesnât really deter me from wanting to make skins for them, Iâd like to, itâs just how tedious they are
The removal of the Fox is still a Crime honestly, although that moment where it pulled you out of the ship as it was leaving I can see why people complained

Oh, and in addition, because we canât really mess with the material (only replace textures) that also limits how much we can do with the Kidnapper Fox

Fox being removed was probably a major contributor to Zeekerss feeling burnt out. Itâs a shame too since towards the end Kidnapper Fox was feeling more and more balanced.
With the vain shrouds spawning bugs fixed from YesFox and the cheaper weed killer ever since v60 Iâve noticed the fox is a manageable enemy.
Most people overreacted, but I can see why. In the beta every moon had a 20% chance to grow shrouds every day.
And unlike in YesFox the iterations were unreasonably high.
